February 13, 2007, 7PM: Played 3 hours, Made $1,020.00 at Full Tilt
$250 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (23rd out of 1074 Players)

First big hand...after increasing my stack to 3500 i had 8d7d in the SB and saw a 5-way flop.  Ad 10s 9d...great flop obviously but i decided to check b/c the ppl have been pretty crazy and paying other players of with mediocre hands so i decided to wait to see if i hit on the turn...Kd was on the turn and i led out half the pot and was promptly pushed all in, a second person called and so did I...one had AJ and one had the straight (both drawing dead...I am sittin at 9200 now with 350 to go.

First break i am 55th out of 254.

60/155......46/122....42/86...can't get a hand...41/70

23/26...need to make a move soon but have been card dead for about an hour and a half.

Just lost...I was in the cut off seat with 14 times the BB and 55.  i raised standard and the button and SB called
flop came AK2 and after two calls i figure i need to take one shot at the pot that would essentially increase my stack 250%...i bet 6k leavin myself with 11 and enough to fold if raised... the button folded and the SB called...the turn was a J and we went check,check...turn was a Q to make the board A K 2 J Q and he checked to me...there was 27k in the pot and i thought he could fold a weak A or K in this situation for my 11k so i pushed and he insta called with A3.  he didn't have a lot of chips and i want to just call him an idiot for calling but i don't know...i don't think i played great but 23 out of 1074 was good i guess.

Any comments out there on that last hand?

February 12, 2007, 12PM:
Play Money Series of Poker

I thought of something that would be a lot of fun for us play money people.  I am also aware that it is extremely unlikely that any poker site would incorporate this idea because play money, obviously, doesn't bring in any profits.  However, a Play Money Series of Poker would be a very fun event to offer the play money players once or twice a year.  A site could run, say, 12 events of varying buyins and different games culminating in the "main event."

This event could be one week long, two events a night for five nights followed by a larger buyin event on the sixth day and the main event on the seventh.  The site could run satellites nightly throughout the year for players to win their seat into the Main Event.  Also, like the WSOP, the winner of each event could win a "bracelet" in the form of a colored bar on their avatar (or something like that).  They could also keep a "Player of the Year" leaderboard, and the winner's avatar could be fitted with a "'07 POY" poker jersey.

Trust me, I am aware of the near impossibility of this ever happening, but a guy can dream can't he.  Some of us college kids can't risk losing our tuition money and this would be a great way to bring a more realistic level of play to the play money games.  Anyways, back to homework, and reality.
