December 31, 2005, 12PM: Played 45 minutes, Lost $23.00 at Big Daddy's
$20 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (17th out of 35 Players)

Started out playing well, made a good bluff and a good read in the early round.  Then I crippled myself with 1010 in early position.  Betting half my stack, and then two people go all in in front of me.  I layed it down of course.  After that, I just didn't have enough chips to do anything with, so I wen't all in utg in the dark.  The table got a kick out of that, and I lost smiling.  The problem with our tournament is the blind structure goes up too fast, and you can't really play stack maintanence very well, unless you have a huge chip stack.  But, it is popular for our players and they like it, so I won't complain.  I think I am going to put more focus in live action than tournaments, because you just can't make a decent amount of money over a long period of time in tournaments.  Especially in Spokane.  So, anyway, I was getting bored and decided that it wasn't the right time to jump in the live game.  I was going to play all weekend, becasue I am playing well and running well, but I might not as much as I thought.  I am going to occupie my time with a few other things, and not be cooped up in the cardroom all day.  See you next year poker log!

December 31, 2005, 12AM: Played 45 minutes, Made $149.00 at Lilac Lanes
Texas Hold'em

Started out cold for the first 20 minutes, seeing a lot of flops cheap(which happen a lot in 2-10 spread).  Then, I decided to play Q-rag suited and caught my flush, but someone had a bigger one.  That cost me bout 70 bucks.  I grinded back a little bit, then caught a monster.  88 utg, 7 way action, 12 before the flop.  Flop 832 two hearts.  I check raise and narrow the field, trying to get the weak draw out.  Flush card comes on the turn and I through out a tester.  I get raised and just call of course.  "Pair the board", I am thinking.  I used an old tactic, once you see the very tip of the card come out of the dealers hand and you know it is a board pair, you come out firing.  It through my opponent off, and he raised, I reraise, and he finally slows down with his flush.  "Nice catch" he says.  I told him nice catch on the turn.  Then I politly tell the table " Where I come from, we call that suck and re-suck!" Got a few chuckles and the game went on.  I was going to move up tables, and decided that the game was way too big and loose at the other table, and I wasn't really in that much of a mood to gamble anyway.  Cash out and went home.  This game was interesting to analyze.  You have 9 other people sitting at the table that think they can play like pros.  Everyone of them tries to get reads, pause before they make big moves, and all in all just annoying.  They are still calling stations, and still make bad bets at bad times.  I can see me self making big profits in this game, as I have in the past, before the online poker log days.

December 28, 2005, 7PM: Played 2 hours, Lost $12.00 at BD's (OTC)
$3/6 Texas Hold'em

Got the game fired up again.  I new it was going to stay this time, so after an hour, I clocked out and played some real poker.  One of my buddies hung around to start the game, and we had some fun with a donkey that was not well liked.  So, I guess I played a little target poker, but I didn't go balls out on him.  I got a read on him when he beat me, I had a marginal hand anyways.  Then, I called hime down twice with bottom pair when he had nada.  I could tell it got him a little steaming.  So, that was fun.  I was never up more than 20 bucks in this session.  I really played solid today.  Layed hands down, read players well, and kept the game going.  No negative emotions, and I had fun with the players.  I am really doing well with focusing on how I need to play and analyzing the game as of late.  Feels good when everything is working out.

December 28, 2005, 4PM: Played 1 hour, Made $51.00 at BD's (OTC)
$3/6 Texas Hold'em

I was being way too generous.  We played 4 handed for about an hour, and I could have busted the game several times.  Showing my flush on the turn, giving free cards etc.  It payed off in the long run, because I came out more ahead than I would have if I broke the game.  Well, needless to say, the game broke anyway.  I stunned the table when my boss had raised on the button, and it was heads up with me in the big blind.  I looked down at my cards, and saw pocket aces.  Boss had been getting beat up, and I knew that only a few more beating, and he would cash out and go home.  Sooo...I layed the bad boys donw face up.  The table was stunned, Boss shook his head and we moved on.  "I fealt like i would have got beat", I said, while laughing a little.  Bet you don't hear bout that every day.  So, we played a few more hands, picked up a few more winners, and Boss did exactly what I said.  Game broke! This is one of the few times, where taking it easy on the players and keeping the game together paid off.  It ussually goes the other way.  It was fun though.

December 28, 2005, 2PM: Played 1 hour, 30 minutes, Lost $39.00 at BD's (OTC)
$3/6 Texas Hold'em

Ahh, another day of keeping a game going at BD's.  There is a pattern here, I am playing on wednesdays, but that is ok as long as my co-worker comes through for me like he has been.  Today start, was a little loose.  I just bought in forty, and pissed some chips away down to 25 in a 5 handed game.  Then, I got crippled flopping top pair and my opponent catching runner runner, no big whoop though.  I bought in another hundy, then tighten up and stayed even till the game broke.

December 27, 2005, 12AM:
Bad Hands

I just saw on another post that I helped a player understand how to dictate your player in a certain low limit game.  Lets get something straight here kids.  If you see me play J3 suited on the button, it does not mean that you should play J3 every time in every position of a 3-6 game.  Poker is all about position, pot odds, and if you believe in it, it is about timing and heaters.  That day was a good day for me because I slipped in cheap with some "bad" hands for cheap, and got lucky with them.  When playing in any game, you need to analyze every facet of that game.  Some games you need to play tighter, some looser.  Sometimes, playing a hand is a gut feeling for me, but it doesn't happen every time I get a face rag suited in any position.  If you played every one of those, you would be broke pretty quick.  Don't think that you can keep playing 95suited and continue winning with that hand.  You were a low percentage to win and did on that particular day.  Position is another key in the hand selection category.  If you need to, read up on a few books, and figure out what hands are right for you in certain positions.  Now, you need to calculate your chances of winning, considering the money in the pot.  That is where the real fun begins.  Good luck, and stack em' high!

December 26, 2005, 2PM: Played 1 hour, 15 minutes, Made $52.00 at Big Daddy's
$3/6 Texas Hold'em

Good session here.  Short, but accomplished a lot in this one.  I played one hand poorly, and it cost me 20.  But, this is a good win for the time played.  Managed the table well today, making the most of just about every situation.  Only got beat by low percentage maybe twice, and even then it didnt hurt me too bad.  I have a high hand pending, I don't think it will hold up! Just another note.  I really do play so much better, when I am sitting in the game wiht one of my close friends.  It really settles me in, and I play solid when I can do this.

December 26, 2005, 12PM: Played 1 hour, 15 minutes, Lost $23.00 at Big Daddy's
$20 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (15th out of 30 Players)

This was an interesting tournament. This could have been won by myself if I just loosened up a bit in the first couple of rounds.  I was on a heater from hell, and I didn't play a single hand during that time.  The thing is, I was never ahead before the flop on any of those hands.  I guess you can't really look at it that way though, and I know this.  I made all the right reads today, and got out of big chip situations with medium hands.  Played solid the whole tournament, no mistakes.  I ran into a guy who was tired and "wanted to go home".  Of course, J5 always beats A10, lol.  I was shortstacked after that hit, went all in with A8, and got called but A2.  You know the rest of the story! Overall, I played well, no doubts at all.

December 23, 2005, 2PM: Played 1 hour, 30 minutes, Made $183.00 at BD's (OTC)
$3/6 Texas Hold'em

Heavans to Betsy! No low percentage draws getting there. I was playing well and beating the donks! I stayed controlled and passive like I used to play.  I fealt great.  I got beat with KK and it didnt phase me.  Game got full and I cashed out.  I did give a few breaks to a player or two because of possibly breaking the game again, but that goes with the territory.  I will remember this session!

December 21, 2005, 3PM: Played 4 hours, 30 minutes, Lost $90.00 at BD's (OTC)
$3/6 Texas Hold'em

I said I wasn't gonna play for a while, but I feel like there is too much of an obligation to play when it is short.  And, my co-worker understands the responsibility of returning the favor.  I didn't play too bad today.  Ran into a donk fest at the end of the session.  I had spurts of playing loose and tightening up, but I had my buy-in limitations in mind the whole time.  I know I will be better off by not chasing a loss, and taking my wins when I can get them.  -90 looks bad on paper for me, but I know that my co-worker will come back and play tomorrow or Friday to return the favor.  It all averages out, and we both make a decent amount dealing locked in on our days.
Made a couple of good reads today, and called down a few hands that I should not have.  Kind of a roller coaster ride! Oh well, not bad day though!
