May 29, 2007, 2PM:
Another donkey

Here is a good one.  I was dealing a couple of days ago and mister agro comes over to the table.  High and mighty kid, probably 23 years old.  Sits down for 5 minutes and already bitches he is not getting any cards.  I reply...."it has only been five minutes...and a real poker player finds a way to win, cards or not".  That set the tone.

So, he acts out of turn a couple of times...doesn't know how much to bet or raise (damn 2-10 spread players).  And is constantly being a jackass.  Asked to see a hand after he just sucked out and hit a two outer on the river to make a set.  I asked him if he was serious, saying it was impolite to ask after you have just beat someone.

So a few minutes later he gets in a hand with another fellow heads up.  River comes and he shows the other guy the ace of hearts.  Three hearts on the board.  The other guy...kinda old and mean...but deep down good guy says, :what is that supposed to mean?" Kinda gets pissy and starts to throw his hand away.  Does not say fold or anything and then snatches them back up.  The other guy turns over his other card showing the bluff, and the old guy raises him.  The agro then gets pissy and says his hand is dead, and I explain to him that it is not a dead hand if the person can retrieve it before it gets to the muck, and there is nothing verbal about folding the hand.
He then calls and the old guy turns over the staight! I push him the pot and the kid goes off.  The table loves it, one person even said, "that one backfired on yah, now didn't it!"

So, being quick witted as I am...I had to get y two cents in.  I could have been a rude bitch, which I can...but I was in a good mood and wanted to have some fun.  I said,"You know, we can get you a copy of the rules of poker for you." He stated that he already new the rules.  And of course, I come back at him with, "obviously not, with you acting out of turn, splashing your chips, etc..., you need some work!" Now I am just needling him after that.  "I am only trying to help you out by making you learn more about the game." Good times.....just thought I would share.  He wented busted a few hands later and everyone cheered as he left.

May 29, 2007, 1PM: Played 30 minutes, Lost $23.00 at Big Daddy's
$20 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (23rd out of 34 Players)

I was getting bored, so I went all in in the dark UTG.  People looked at me funny and laughed with me when I turned over 82.  Just had too much on my mind for the day and didn't feel like playing.

Donating to my patrons is always a good thing in the long run....and it makes the table have some fun and realize that it is only a 20 dollar crap shoot anyway.

I am sure I will here about it tomorrow when I go to work! LOL

May 27, 2007, 12PM: Played 1 hour, Lost $23.00 at Big Daddy's
$20 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (7th out of 29 Players)

Didn't even play a hand till I blinded off.  Not too shabby for never playing.  It does prove a good point about playing tight.  Yes, I dodged some bullets along the way to get 7th, should have been 9 or 10.  But still fun to see how far I could make it playing like so many other do.  Tight and don't make moves to try to accumulate chips.  That is the problem with the novice player these days.  You can't wait for cards to make it happen.

May 14, 2007, 9PM: Played 1 hour, 15 minutes, Lost $23.00 at Big Daddy's
$20 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (6th out of 29 Players)

Ahhh, the bubble.  I was in really good playing mode.  I sat down at a table with mostly people I knew, and several decent players.  I played just fine, raising at the right times and stealing some blinds.

First bad hand was six way action, I was in the BB.  94 off suit flops me two pair.  THE WERM flopped top pair with JK.  I let him bet on flop...nothing on turn, so I check raised him.  He calls and catches his two pair on the riv....I knew he put me on a better hand, but the young one just couldn't let it go. Ah...he will learn someday.

So, I battled back and made some really good plays to make it to the final table with probably 4th chip stack.

Down to six players, I am in BB with 33.  UTG moves all in...if I cal I have 5 chips left and can make it through the blinds.  Everyone else folds and I start asking question.  I asked him if he had a big ace, he said yes, I asked him if the jack was a kicker, he said yes.

I think to myself, if I win the hand, I win the tournament...instead of blinding off and screaching it out, I decide to make the call. He rolls over AJ, everyone says "goooood read"...and he catches his J on the riv.

Good read, bad ending.

May 13, 2007, 5PM: Played 15 minutes, Lost $80.00 at BD's (OTC)
$4/8 Texas Hold'em

Got the game going again.  Lost first couple of hands on flush draws.  Busted with top two...guy catches bigger two on turn.  Ugh....oh well...still got juice for the day.  The boys are on there own now...really wasn't in the mood to play today anyways.
