July 12, 2006, 8PM: Played 1 hour, Made $650.00 at Hard Rock
$225 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (1st out of 10 Players)

Played solid, agressive with chiplead. Pissed off rich dude, dont care. No bad beats to speak of either way, few stupid calls and bets with 4 players left. Put a player back into the game with nearly half my chips once it was time for heads up, but elimited her after the first hand of heads up play. Flopped top pair, she calles with middle pair and a gutshot straight, i boat on the river anyways. The 650 includes expenses - Red Bull, valet

$225 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (1st out of 10 Players)

Aaaand the cards change. Not gonna lie, got lucky to end up in the money, but with previous beats, i dont feel all that bad. Luck wins include all in with 5d8d, call of Q4, flop shows queen, i runner runner the flush. A 10 up against AJ and As9s, i have both players all in. Flop hits me hard with A 10 4. x x falls and i over double up. Solid play to make it to heads up, and we chopped it.

Fifth Hand. Pocket 10s. Flop come 8JQ. Semi bluff all in, calls with 9 10. Wonderful.

$225 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (10th out of 10 Players)

Second hand. AK, flop A88, turn J, river K, call all in, lose to J8 offsuit. Sometimes I wish I was stupid enough to play rags. (Oh, I raised to 250 (of 1500 units to start) preflop.)

July 7, 2006, 1AM: Played 1 hour, Lost $225.00 at Hard Rock
$225 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (4th out of 10 Players)

Weak cards, won on a river all in to gain a few chips, still not enough to get into the money. Blinded out. Didn't tip the valet guy.

$225 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (5th out of 10 Players)

With Rickey. Called an all in, knew I was behind. Lot my chiplead, couldn't catch a card after that. Went all in for 700 with JQ, chipleader calls with 89. Guy hits a 9, acts like he knew it all along.

Thoughts

Please comment, with reasons.
I have had success other than the 4th of july, but never documented it. Usually at the Hard Rock with 120 or 225 tournaments. I'm really thinking of doing this 'professionally' while staying in school and carrying a part time job. Thoughts? Dangers? Encouragement? Advice?

July 4, 2006, 11PM: Played 2 hours, Made $1,665.00 at Hard Rock Tampa
$535 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (1st out of 10 Players)

First 535 tournament based on a good night and seat availability. Few hands worth mentioning.

Hand 12. AA. Call preflop raise of 300; heads up. Flop is rags, rainbow, and very limited straight draws. Check check. Turn A. He bets 500. Call. River K. He Checks. I bet 750. He calls. Mucks losing hand.

Hand 15. AA. Call 50 on button, five players to flop. A-K-K. Check, Check, All-in of 850, fold, I call, fold fold. I tell the guy (who I have played with before) that he's a prick for damaging my trap. Shows JQ. Drawing dead on flop.

Heads up. 12000/8000 chiplead. Jh8h. Limp in. No raise in the BB. Flop is 5-7-8 rainbow, one heart. I bet 1000. Rasies all-in. Call. Shows a J6. Misses straight, and I win my first 535.

$225 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (4th out of 10 Players)

Four players left, I sat second in chips. Seat 10 with huge chiplead. Seat 10 generously donates most of his chips to other two players, making me a narrow short stack. Under the gun, I re-raise a flop all-in of K-9-7 with Q-8 sensing weakness. Player shows K-9.

July 4, 2006, 9PM: Played 1 hour, Made $905.00 at Hard Rock Tampa
$225 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (1st out of 10 Players)

Played well, no bad beats/wins to speak of. Eliminated first five players. Ended up heads up with Dave and Mike(full timer). Came back heads up from 3500/11500 chipstacks (shortstacked) after losing chiplead with AK to AA. Two all-ins: Pair 8s (top on flop) Q kicker takes down 8 10, and 9J flops straight over top pair, gutshot draw.
