January 31, 2006, 5PM: Played 30 minutes, Made $8.00 at FT
$2/4 Omaha Hi-Lo

The only limit O8 game on the site and it just got going, but I have to cook dinner for the kids.

The site offers a lot of games, but there are few at each limit and game.  Very few limit holdem games, 1 razz, 3 stud, 1 micro stud.

I feel like playing limit holdem, but is tough to find a game. Also multitabling against 3 of the same players on 3 tables.

January 31, 2006, 4PM: Played 1 hour, Lost $15.00 at FT
$2/4 Texas Hold'em

2-3 tables.  Was doing fairly well until one table disintegrated.  If my pocket kings would have held up even 1 or the 3 times I had them it would have been nice.  Each time to bottom pair turning or rivering trips.  Huge difference between the 2-4 and 3-6 tables.  2-4 is pretty loose and wild, 3-6 tight and reserved.  Need to pay more attention to 2-4 games but could be profitable. 2 games max at this level.

January 30, 2006, 6PM: Played 30 minutes, Lost $80.00 at FT
$1 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

WTF, well lost trying to play from the sb heads up w/bb.  picked the wrong time to but heads.  Lost second big pot again from early position.  Lesson, muck the early position hands! could have avoided the last 17 dollars, all I have to do is ask myself "What can he smooth call with?" I'm having better luck laying down big hands in tourneys than in the live game and this makes no sense.  In tourneys the risk is limited to the buy in, but in the cash game most of the time I am risking more than a buy in for the tourneys I play.

Things to remember:
AVOID EARLY POSITION MARGINAL HANDS
BEWARE THE SMOOTH CALL/ SLOW PLAY

January 30, 2006, 5PM: Played 45 minutes, Made $38.00 at FT
$3/6 Texas Hold'em

Game was super tight when I sat down.  Picked up some blinds and caught AA and KK that held up.  Was us more but tried to get fancy and play suited connectors out of position.  Game loosened up and we started losing players, didn't feel like playing short so left.

January 30, 2006, 1PM: Played 3 hours, 30 minutes, Made $65.17 at FT
$5 Buy-In Pot-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (3rd out of 111 Players)

Played well, got lucky with JJ vs KK flopped a set and turned quads.  Was very patient and made moves at the appropriate times.  Final hand I have K8o on the button raise 1/2 pot, both call. Flop J82.  I bet pot and bb calls. turn 10 check, check, river 8.  bb checks, I bet 3/4 of pot he raises me all in. I call and he shows A8o.  Porbably should have been a little more patient, but when the case 8 hits the river, I am going to loose all my chips.

January 30, 2006, 11AM: Played 20 minutes, Lost $26.00 at FT
$24 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (218th out of 250 Players)

$6000 gaurantee. Decided I would make a few loose calls preflop and try to gamble a little to gain a chip stack.  Played J8d in early middle position, min raise from cutoff, both blinds call so I call to complete the action.  Q79 two diamonds. I bet the pot and get called from cutoff. 2h on turn. I put him on AK so I bet half of my remaining chips and he raises I put him all in as I am pot committed and have 11 outs if he does have a made hand.  I catch an 8 on the river but his KK holds up.
In hindsight, of course I played this hand wrong. But I think my biggest mistake was playing the hand at all.  Once I see the flop I'm hooked.  I guess I could have checked and seen what he did, but I wanted to take control of the hand.  I need to start playing more hands and playing poker instead of just playing the cards I'm dealt.  I'm am going to try to play a little more aggressively and see how that works out.  It will probably result in a few more early exits, but hopefully will result in a few more money finishes as well.  going out after 2 hours and out of the money pays the same as my finish today.

January 30, 2006, 10AM: Played 45 minutes, Lost $11.00 at FT
$10 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (84th out of 178 Players)

Got reraised a lot preflop and didn't follow through also continued bet on flop only to get raised.  My good hands ran into better ones or they out played me.  I need to remember that is is OK to take some risks in order to make the money.

Don't have to pick up any kids today so am planning on playing some longer tourneys.  It has been awhile since I have been able to focus and play well for an entire tourney.
