January 30, 2006, 11AM: Played 20 minutes, Lost $26.00 at FT
$24 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (218th out of 250 Players)

$6000 gaurantee. Decided I would make a few loose calls preflop and try to gamble a little to gain a chip stack.  Played J8d in early middle position, min raise from cutoff, both blinds call so I call to complete the action.  Q79 two diamonds. I bet the pot and get called from cutoff. 2h on turn. I put him on AK so I bet half of my remaining chips and he raises I put him all in as I am pot committed and have 11 outs if he does have a made hand.  I catch an 8 on the river but his KK holds up.
In hindsight, of course I played this hand wrong. But I think my biggest mistake was playing the hand at all.  Once I see the flop I'm hooked.  I guess I could have checked and seen what he did, but I wanted to take control of the hand.  I need to start playing more hands and playing poker instead of just playing the cards I'm dealt.  I'm am going to try to play a little more aggressively and see how that works out.  It will probably result in a few more early exits, but hopefully will result in a few more money finishes as well.  going out after 2 hours and out of the money pays the same as my finish today.
