March 31, 2007, 12PM: Played 7 hours, 36 minutes at Lucky Lil's - Great Falls
$80 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (3rd out of 66 Players)
Another decent tourny for me. Played pretty solid through most of the tourny. Did make a couple of mistakes that I was able to recover from except for the hand I went broke on taking 3rd. I made a misread on the chip leader and was the shortest of the 3 stacks. I looked at an opertunity to put my self back into contention with what appeared to be 2 fairly decent players. My read was wrong and instead of having the best hand I was drawn dead to 4 outs.
A couple of hands that come to mind, I would like to put in here because they could have been key hands in increasing my stack a decent size at different points of the tourny.
First hand I have AdQd vs 8h2d (Tom LaFond), which was raised preflop by Tom, which from playing with him in previous games a few years back I know he doesnt mind playing any two cards, which is obvious in this situation. I just called his raise wait till after the flop to make a move at him.
Flop came 10d8c9d, which gave me a pluther of outs. I checked and he moved all in. I called even though I thought I was behind at the moment, but thought all of my outs where live (flush draw, st8 draw, pair draw). After running the odds through the odds calculator I found out that I was a 59% favorite to win the hand when the chips went in.

I missed all draws, That hand would have giving me about another 2500 in chips with the blinds going up to 50-100. Giving me a total of about 8K
The next big hand that I would like to mention, the blinds are 150-300. Im in the sb with QdQh, everyone had folded to me so its sb vs bb. I raise to 900, and the bb who had been playing extremly tight all tourny moved all in for about 4800 more. I debate the call, count down the call, and see what I have left. I would still have 15K so I call he rolled over As7d, which really shocked me from all the hands previously in the tourny I watched him play, even in the rebuy period. Flop came an ace, and he wins. If I win I would have had 25-30K probably making me either chip leader or 2nd in chips.

read my just rambling post, it will be a good 'opportunity' for you to learn a 'plethora' of new things. I think you will find it 'extremely' helpful.
