July 14, 2006, 2AM: Played 3 hours, 15 minutes, Made $67.00 at California Grand
$3 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

I'll take this small win.  Got stuck 600 so happy with it.  Couldn't believe the big hands I got snapped.  The biggest one was AA.  Need your help here....could I have played this differently????? After playing pretty aggressive and loose when I first sat down.  Paid off a couple of all-ins with 50/50 draws.  I didn't play a hand for over a hour.  Wake up with AA UTG.  Open for $20.  The cut-off calls and the BB calls.  Flop of KQ8 rainbow.  BB checks, I fired $50, cut-off calls, BB calls.  Turn is 8.  Check, I bet $240 all-in and cut-off calls, BB folds.  He show 85 hearts.  I miss on the river.

After steaming and folding for the next 20 minutes I get moved to the main game.  Start playing solid again and let that hand go since it's a new table.  Grind for a while and the same guy gets moved to the table.  He's UTG and makes it $13.  Next guy raises to $26, one caller.  I look down and see AA again.  I reraise to $126 and the SB calls.  The other 3 guys now fold.  Flop of Qxx rainbow.  SB bets $100 I go all-in for last $140 he calls with KJ clubs.  Turn a K river blank to get a nice double up. The first raiser say "I fold 55".  If he really had that I'm not sure but thank you for the SB call to push him out. Pick up a few more pots after that to make a win.

Well, I think you play the AA just fine in that situation.

You raised to $20 pre flop UTG with a blind of only $3, that is overbetting the pot, you get two callers so the pot is a tiny bit above $60.  You bet about the pot on the turn for $50 and get called by a maniac.  He turns the trips and you fire out $240.  This is where I think you could have saved money.  The pot is $160, you have around $240ish and could fire out $100 and dump the hand saving your last $140.  Then again, if he is on a draw to a straight you give him a cheaper draw, but that is the only draw out there and you are blocking 2 of the outs.

I think you just got fucked and could not really avoid it.

How is the wife and baby? I must stop by next time in town.  Maybe hand out with your loony friend again, lol.

Take care
