$50 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (19th out of 52 Players)
Had a few $20 rebuys in this tourny, because I kept running into Jerry Fisher, I would make a hand and he kept notching me, plus there were a few others at my table rebuying a ton, so there were a ton of chips at the table. Right before the break and the end of the rebuy period I went on a 4 hand rush, the last hand where I ended up flopping three 9's along with Jerry floping three 9's. And he ended up doubling me up getting me to about 25K. If I play the next two hands also I would probably have had 40K by the break. After the rebuy period the blinds went up fast, picked up a few hands (flop a nut full, and flop a nut flush) but didnt get the action that I wanted.
One hand that I was involved in where I had to make a tough decision. I have QQ in the SB. There are 2 limpers and the guy in the cut-off raises it 3-4X the BB. I almost re-raise but the two limpers have good sized stacks that can cripple me. So I limp to see if the flop brings the god-awful ace or king. The BB folds and the limper UTG folds. Flop come Jh8d7d. I bet 3K (5X the BB) and the limper that called goes all-in for 15.5K and the pre-flop raiser folds. I have about 25 or 26K left after my bet. I count out the raise amount and count down the rest of my stack. While I was doing this I noticed that the player didnt have this little twitch in his cheek that he had after he bet all of his marginal hands that either squeeked by a win, or lost. So now it was time to really evaluate what he could have. Is it possible he flopped the nuts, or AJ,KJ, maybe with a flush draw, or maybe just a stone cold bluff with a flush draw. Since I watched him limp and call a raise before with JTo all hands where definately possible. I recheck my hand and notice I dont have the Qd. Which means if he has a flush draw or the st8 I dont have the runner runner flush redraw against him. With him having AJ,KJ he still has 5 outs against me. Or even something dumb like JTo with top pair and a st8 draw, he has 9 outs. I end up laying the hand down as I didnt wanna risk 1/2 my stack, when I had control of the table.
