January 29, 2007, 6PM: Played 5 hours, 6 minutes at Lucky Lil's - Butte
$2 No-Limit Texas Hold'em
Played Solid. Picked up a ton of pairs AA's twice, KK's Twice, QQ's twice. Action was good at first, so I just sat back and tried to pick up a couple of pots at first. Then the game got really tight. 3 hands in a row I raised (KK's, QQ', AA's) with no action preflop. The K's utg, I made it 12. The Q's in the BB there were 5 or 6 limpers, I make it 12 more, all fold. On the button with AA's, 5 limpers I make it 12 to go, all fold again. Towards the end I got lucky two hands. One I have 99 in the BB. I make it 17. 2 Callers this time. Flop was Q83, I fire 35 or 40, to get a feel where I am at. I was noticing that most of the players were weak and were afraid of a decent bet. The player to my left go's all in for 16 more, and the other player calls the raise, so I call. Turn comes a blank, I check, and the other player checks. River comes the 9h, which gives me a set but also brings a flush, when the card came the all-in player got really upset. Which was somewhat good news for me if the other player didnt make his flush, I check and the other player checks. When I announce set, the all-in player got a white look on his face, like he flopped bottom set. He never showed. So that 2 outer was for a nice 250 pot.
Next hand where I got lucky a couple hands after, I have 45c. Flop was 67A, turn was an A, and the guy betting had made a raise preflop. He went all-in on the turn, and I put him on A-big, so figured I had 8 outs to win the hand, his all in bet was 30-something with a little over 120 in the pot, I almost had the odds to call, plus from catching the 2 outer a few hands back, I thought I would give it a whirl. I call and my opp rolls over 88, oops my 8-outs just turned to 4, I felt bad because I basically said I couldnt win as the dealer rolled off the 3c for the river.
Everyone saw that I was on fire, and decided to quit. This session was really good for me, I was making great lay-downs, saw the fear in some of my players, and was making really good reads when I needed to.
