Homepage Updated

So instead of working on the things I really need to do, I updated the homepage.  I put the 10 most recent entries on the homepage.  Maybe people will want to update more often because they get to be on the homepage.  I really should put the most recent entry *or* comment on there, but that would have been like three more lines of code.

I also automatically have people set up to "watch" their own blog, so they know when people are commenting on their entries.  I'll let people turn it off if it bugs them.

I also think I now know what I want to do in order to get the hand histories attached to sessions.  It will be pretty cool if it works.

Emotions

Jesse was right in one of the permalinks, my biggest weakness is probably playing emotional.  This leads to two of my biggest money drains: rebuying in an emotional state and tilt.  So what do I need to do?
Just some ideas:
  1) 1/2 hour between time I go broke and rebuy
  2) 10 minute break from all games after going broke in 1
  3) realize the emotion beginning to effect my play and take a break or stop.

I think if I would have done this today, I could have saved myself a decent amount of money.  I've gotten better at focusing on the games and limiting distractions, so this is the next step in my development.

feel free to comment if you have suggestions or experience the same problems, what do you do to combat tilt?

Watch Blogs

I need this site to aspire to more than the 1990 standard for bulletin boards.  Behold...Blog-watching.  We're into the mid-nineties now, people.  Ever since email was invented websites could alert you of updates, and now this one can as well.  We can't be far from other great new technologies like Flash and other wonderful browser plugins...any suggestions?

Oh, and by the way, this is when the WhatsNew blog was created, for those keeping score (which is what we like to do on this site, after all).

New Feature Added

Now you can watch other peoples' blogs.  There is a "watch this log" link that can be clicked on any blog.  It will send you an email any time that user updates their blog, or if anyone comments on the blog entries by that user.

It won't let you know if a user updates an existing entry or comment, or if a user deletes an entry or comment, but I think it will still do a good job of letting people know how others are doing.

New comment section

If you guys have not noticed yet, there is a new comment section on the log.  At the bottom of every post there is a "permalink".  Click on that, and it will take you to a comment section, to ask questions or comment on someone else's post.  Have fun and don't suck out too much!

New Feature Added

...so sometimes after a losing session I get tempted to work on the site.  The reason for this is that when I lose I think to myself, "I would have been so much more productive if I had worked on the site instead."

Anyways, I finally went ahead and added a "permalink" with comments to each of the log entries.  I'm not sure if the people on the site will understand the concept of "permalink".  It's a dumb name that bloggers use for links to a specific post.

I'm open to suggestions of what to rename this link to.  "Read Comments and Comment on this Entry" seemed a bit long.

This site is gonna kick ass in exactly the way my poker play does not.

Added Permalink and Entry Comments

OK, now that we have "permalinks" we're a legit blog site, right? Not really, but at least we now have all the important functionality of any self-respecting BBS that has been created since 1990.  My favorite was Napa Valley Wildcat...Modern Warfare...but I digress.  Please enjoy your new feature.

Browse Page Facelift

As a special request, I added a little flair to the "Recent Users" page.  Now you can see everyone's performance on one page.  Will people game the system? Only if the site gets big, so I guess it's a problem I wouldn't mind having.  Enjoy it while it lasts.

Upload Histories Started

It isn't easy and it isn't pretty and it doesn't do much, but it's a start.  You can (if you are smart enough) zip up your Party Poker HandHistory directory and upload it.  It will be automatically unzipped, and the hands will be split out individually, and then...nothing.

Just *think* of the possibilities, though! No, seriously.  Someone tell me what I should do with these hands.  Or at least where I should start.
