$26 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (180th out of 823 Players)

Just getting nothing...

Finally get QQ and triple up with top set

then back to the grind.. ave stack 7k, me 2k.. blinds 150/300..

Then an opportunity arises in my big blind.. 6 people limp.. so with the blinds and limpers there is 2250 in the pot and I have another 1700 about and A4 suited.  I decide to shove all in.  Get two callers, AQ and K7 off.  I don't win but am happy to get the chance of building up a huge stack.

My other option was to check.. see the flop of A33 and then still end up going all in or making a tough lay down.

I don't like these situations but sometimes you have to risk them in order to survive when card dead.

$2.25 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (6th out of 9 Players)

Wait until you hear this one. I was knocked down early on trying to chase an open ended straight draw. From there, the blinds were so high that I had to go all-in with my next "solid" hand. I get AJ UTG and raise all-in. There is a really short stack that calls all-in and the button flat calls the all-in. They both turn over A10. THEY HAVE TWO OUTS...POSSIBLY ONE....AND THEY FUCKING HIT THE TWO OUTER ON THE RIVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!HOW MANY FUCKING TIMES CAN THIS HAPPEN TO ME!!!!!!!DO YOU GUYS HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR ME?

$11 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (2nd out of 9 Players)

Was the chip leader fom the first hand until we got 3 handed. then i got sucked out on back to back by the same guy. i raise with A8 and goes allin with Q8 and catches a Q to double up, then the next hand, he goes allin and i call from the bb with A9c. he has A4o and hits a 4 to double through me again, leaving me short stacked. but of course this idiot didnt get lucky against the other guy. so when he put his money in bad for a 3rd straight time, he got knocked out, and i crawled to a 2nd place finish.

June 2, 2007, 6AM:
who to blame?

well... it's about 5-6 hours after i shit away my roll i spent a hours and hours building up over the month of may...

however, as opposed to some others who've hit felt before, i'm not going to sit here and blame someone other than me for making a mistake... it's not poker's fault, it's my fault

it's personal responsibility... and last night, i was irresponsible.

am i going to join gamblers anonymous? no. losing is part of the game, i picked a bad time to play with a faulty mentality and that's what sharks wait for... in the grand scheme of things, losing 550 isn't going to cripple me... i did it before, i'll do it again... and, considering i built it from freerolls and low limit games, i feel confident i'll do it again (build up a roll, that is :) )

...or, considering i have a job now, actually load up some money

do i feel like i wasted all of that time in may? no, i think my game has improved tremendously over that time and i'll benefit from it in live games, and online when i get back to it soon

i think it's situations like these, at higher-higher limits, where people look for someone to blame... that's how people have a reason to introduce legislation for some horrible 'vice' like poker...

but, when you're drunk... can't you make bad decisions:

1) driving?
2) getting laid?
3) doing a whole assortment of other things with a bad state of mind that cost money and/or involve other people?

of course. but i don't think having sex is going to be illegal anytime soon no matter how many horrible drunk hookups you make

just time to start back at it and do my best to stick to my cardinal rule of staying ultra-low limit, or just avoiding online poker totally, while drunk... horrible decision? yes.  life ruining? hardly.  in the end, it's just money.

June 2, 2007, 12AM: Played 3 hours, 30 minutes, Lost $30.00 at Northern Quest
$3/6 Texas Hold'em

Never got in anykind of groove.  Lot of gamblers at the table which made it very hard to be agressive successfully.

One sick hand worth mentioning.  Under the gun I look down at 6/7 of hearts.  I raise and get six callers.  Flop comes 4,4,3 rainbow. Checked to me, I bet, get four calls.  Turn comes a 2. Checked to me, I bet, get one call.  River turns over a 5! lol.  The lone caller had what I assume to be a high ace, so she bets, gets raised and is stunned to see my hand.  Got some silly-ass looks for that one.

May 31, 2007, 3PM: Played 12 minutes, Lost $58.50 at Paris - Las Vegas
$65 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (27th out of 27 Players)

Since Jesse is taking 10% of my tournament action for the week.  I only lost 58.50.

I looked at 3 or hands.  When I looked at JJ. This was the end of me.

There were 2 limpers and I was in middle position.  I raised ~5X the BB (225).  And got one caller.

Flop came 8c6c2d.  The caller checks I bet 325.  He check raised me making it 650 to go.  I put the rest of them in, as I was far certain that I had the best hand, as the guy looked really weak to me.

Hands were exposed JcJs for me Jh8h for him.

Click here for the allin odds

And then he caught his 2 outer on the river to take me out.  I just kinda smirked and said nice hand and got up.

I just hope this doesnt set the tone for my tournament week.  And I hope thats the only horrendous beat I take all week.

May 31, 2007, 10PM: Played 1 hour, 12 minutes, Made $24.45 at Full Tilt
$0.25/0.50 Razz

was playing all of those cash games at once... but since i was reading really, really well at razz i went to that...

made one incredibly sick play where i had:

(5-2)9 to start

other guy had 6 showing at the start

my 4th was a J
his was a 5

he bets, i call

my 5th was a 4
his was a 10

he bets, i call

now on 6th...

i get a 9 to pair my 9
he gets a 5 to pair his 5

he bets... i decide to take a runner, just to see if he paired his hole... so i re-raise him now that i have a board of:

9-J-4-9 showing against his 6-5-10-5

and he just calls.

translation?

"i need to hit something to catch you"

gets to 7th... i end up with a J high i think, he checks, i bet, he folds... bingo

he sucked me out BIG TIME one hand though when he had a pair of queens showing on 5th street... when i had 10 high... 6th i make 8 high and bet he calls again 7th i bet he raises, i call because he ran 7 high

THAT'S RAZZ... but, overall i played it VERY well... especially compared to the boner that was hi/lo for me today

the one card that could possibly fuck me here, the 10, hits

now his high straight owns mine, and he makes his lower low on the river

calling big raises with mediocre hi/lo draws...

that's why he's a big stack

May 31, 2007, 8AM: Lost $5.00 at Full Tilt
$5 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (14th out of 45 Players)

i steamed... some fish owned me

called me EVERY time... outdrew me EVERY time..

for example, i raise in 2nd position with KQ suit... he calls directly to my left

flop K-3-2

i bet, he raises, i push him in, he calls

he called my initial raise with K-3 and it held

basically the rest of the time, any time i'd raise, he'd call

just doubled up, next hand i'm on the button he's in the SB... i bet with A-4... he calls, other guy folds... flop K-K-10... he bets min, i put him on a 10, i call

turn A... he bets pot, i call... river 4.... he puts me all in, i call... he had A-J

i was way off of my game in this one
