October 22, 2007, 1AM: Played 1 hour, 30 minutes, Lost $1.00 at Full Tilt
$1 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (129th out of 898 Players)

First break.  1270 in chips...haven't had a hand, and have had to steal blinds to stay at 1270...blinds will be 60-120 so i am looking to double but if i do i feel good there is some dead money at my table for sure.

Money bubble and I am gettin short, about 12x the bb and i am verrry card dead.

Moved in from the BB with 84...i had 4200 in chips and there was only one limper (the guy who limped EVERY hand, and had folded to large raises several times) with 1700 in the pot this was a good spot to steal since i only had 11x the BB...he called with A8 and i busted 3 spots from the money...guess i coulda just folded for 3 more mins and got my $1.5 but this was a spot, based on watchin the guy play for the first hour of the tourny, was going to pick me up 1700 chips 90% of the time...also if i folded to the money i woulda had about 3500 in chips with blinds becoming 250-500, and if i steal that pot i have 5000 after making the money and a lot better stack to move in with...don't like missin the money by three spots but its the play i woulda made 100 from the money or after i was in the money so i thought it was the right play

From the Poker Blog for EightFive

October 21, 2007, 10PM:
First 100 MTTs

I just finished my 100th MTT since I switched from playing SNG's and cash in June.  I am pretty happy with my results.  I played almost all 1 and 2 dollar tournaments, with probably about 4 five dollar ones mixed in.  The average size field I played in was 805 people.  I made 6 final tables with one win and one third.  Cashed for $525 with a profit of $331 profit.

I plan on comparing my next 100 tournaments to this first set of 100 and I have a few goals.  I would like to make 8 final tables, cash in 33 tournaments (I cashed in 30 during the first 100)...and my most important goal: I would like to win 3 tournaments and be in the top 3 5 of the 8 final tables I make.  To do this I will need to improve my end game.  I am not nearly aggressive enough, especially on the final table bubble when everyone is just trying to get there.  I think I have improved a lot during the second half of my first 100 tournaments and my results show this so I am hoping to continue that in the future.

This post was not meant to be a brag-post but a reminder to me to look back and compare my results to measure how I play over the next couple months.  I also hope it works to motivate me when I sit down to play a few tournaments and I just don't care about the couple dollars I buy in for.

October 21, 2007, 2PM:
Nice

I switched to Ultimate Bet for shits and giggles because I have been successful in the past with them -- just am not a fan of their boring table layout. So i alternet to FTP sometimes to play in those big tournaments, but nothing ever comes from that site but bad beats. The nite of the switch I placed 2nd out of 657 entrants in a 2500 garuntee because UB is cheap like that. Was able to rake in 500 bones. The next night I enter a tournament and placed 3rd of 350 people in the 2500 garuntee and raked in 200 bones. The cash games have been remarkably profitable for me as well because there are so many stupid morons playing online these days that have no clue!!!!!! But after a 3 month layoff its nice to rake in some money. We all could agree that when online sites let us win some money once in awhile we all tend to turn to the happier side of life.. no?

October 21, 2007, 1AM: Played 2 hours, Made $1.23 at Full Tilt
$1 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (74th out of 1064 Players)

made the money with 3700...nearly tripled to 9600 with AK v AJ v KJ....then won a small pot to get to 13k when this hand took place:

blinds were 400-800 and MP guy min raises to 1600 and it folds to me in the BB with 7h6h and i call getting almost 5:1...flop is Qc5h3h...I figure he will cont. bet if i check here and then i can move in and take it.  so i check and he bets 3k...i move in for 11k total and he folds which gets me to 18k

ughhh...blinds are still 400-800 and i am UTG with TT...i almost just folded but decided with only two ppl at the table with more than me i can't be folding here-thats just way to nitty lol....so i raise and a big stack in MP calls....flop comes 873 rainbow and there is 8k in the pot and i have 14k in my stack...i don't really know what the best play is here but I moved in and he called (after thinking for a year!) with KK and thats that...woulda had 37k which woulda put me in 11th with 70 to go.

Texas Hold'em

finished just outside the money in the midnight madness... i was in about 201, 261 get paid... and 320 were left or so... i raised in MP with pocket 3s, i'd been real, real, real, real tight all game... as in 9% of flops

someone pushed me all in... i thought for a minute, put it on a race and figured i'd rather double up and go for a run at the top than fold 1/4th my stack away

he had A-Q, so i was right... unfortunately, a Q on the flop and turn ended that

won a heads up
won a 6 handed turbo

finished 8th in a 45 SNG losing a 3 way all in with AK vs. A9 and JJ... also lost half of my stack making a stupid bluff... i've played pretty bad at 45 sng final tables recently
