Re-focus
 I have been playing more than I planned and more than I should while at school. It hasn't actually affected my school work too much, but it has affected my play. A lot of times I try to do work during tournaments or play too late knowing that I need to get up early the next morning. I think these things have kept me from playing as well as I can at certain times. Sooo, from now on I am going to attempt to play only one tourney a day during the week and save the high volume days for breaks. I also want to try and focus more while playing and really try to play every tournament as best I can. Alright, well that's that, now hopefully we will see the top threes come a little more often now!

$3 No-Limit Texas Hold'em
I played great. Thanks to a change of music on my iPOD, and some discipline picked up from playing the tourny, I was patient and calm. I had fun, and I only really played a few hands. But they resulted in a double up, a triple up, and another big pot when I was close to chip leader at the table. This is how I always need to play. Patient and disciplined. I think I've been losing lately because I've been trying to play to many hands to far. I've been trying to make what I describe as the 'hero call,' I try and read into my opponents hand more than I should. I just need to be patient and wait for the better situations, like I did here.

November 25, 2007, 12PM: Played 2 hours, Lost $120.00 at Deuces Wild
$3 No-Limit Texas Hold'em
I thought I played nearly perfect. I built up my stack without having to show down a hand, to about $190. I played a couple situations where I put money in and didn't have the hand to show down, and mucked. Put me around $140. I got all my money in as a big favorite and got sucked out on. Kept my last few bucks, got all my money in AGAIN as a huge favorite, and got sucked out on again. Decided that the table would figure me for a losing player and try to chase me down after that, so i took off. Glad I did, and happy how i played. One of the losing sessions I can be proud of, unlike the previous 2, where I feel maybe I didn't play my best.

November 27, 2007, 7AM: Played 6 hours, Made $2,147.00 at Chair Casino
$30 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (2nd out of 469 Players)
 Yeah, i finally placed in one of these bad boys. The Chair is treating me better than the Couch. The tournaments are better and structured better.
I was playing some Omaha with Deiyuo, I bust just before the money, Deiyuo took it down.
Then I let him know that I was doing well in the holdem, so he kept a close eye on me. It helps having someone watch you, you always play better. Godd rooting!
I made a few mistakes, but nothing too crippling. The ole shoulda woulda coulda type stuff.
When we were down to three players, there was one really tight and one really loose. Loose had 500k, and tight had 300k, with me having 300k. Out of know where, there was a raise pre between the two. The flop comes KQ9, all spades. Tight boy moves all in, and loose boy auto calls withh 66, 6 of spades. Tight boy had 22. Thank you loose boy for doing your job lol.
So now, the chip stacks are around 1 million to my 250k. I fight and fight and steal to get up to 550k. We check it down to see the flop, and I flop a weak ace. He comes out firing and I go over the top....he reactes way too fast and pushes back. I move all in, knowing he is weak, as he wanted to chop before and not really a good player. He had 10-5 of diamonds. He caught his diamond to win. Ill take that race everytime. So I played well, couple mistakes, but made up for them. There is another hand I would tell you about, but maybe for just rambling section.
During current Hold'em session you were dealt 424 hands and saw flop:
- 27 out of 70 times while in big blind (38%)
- 19 out of 67 times while in small blind (28%)
- 40 out of 287 times in other positions (13%)
- a total of 86 out of 424 (20%)
Pots won at showdown - 20 of 24 (83%)
Pots won without showdown - 56
I had won over 90% of my hands going into 5 players. That was crucial. But my hand selection was great and only made a few bad agro plays!

$2 No-Limit Texas Hold'em
Big time roller coaster session where I didn't follow my stop-loss but it worked out anyways. Bad move by me, got lucky that a couple huge hands went my way.
Steamed from some horrible preflop calls that ended up sucking out on me, I shoved with TT after someone called my C-bet on a Queen high flop with all hearts. They called somehow with QJ no heart.
Well after that I was really over the edge. Reloaded, picked up KK and doubled through TT in a huge pot where he called my third raise preflop then led on a rags flop. Then doubled with TT against AJ when they bluffed it down against my set with their gutshot and missed.

Mexican Poker Cruise with WorldPokerSolutions.com
 Some of you wanted to come on the October Poker Cruise to Mexico but could not make it. So I wanted to give a post poker cruise update from my point of view.
It was a great vacation, from day 1 until the end. You just get on the ship and you are pampered. They make your bed, clean your cabin, prepare and clean up your meals. You are spoiled. Plus the staff is very warm and friendly while they serve you, and this is just the base of the trip.
A "typical" sea day for myself was, wake up sometime from 10am til noon. Enjoy a cigarette and coffee on the balcony overlooking the ocean. Jump into the shower and throw on some casual clothes. I'd then roll up to one of the dinning areas and grab a bite to eat. I'd usually go alone and always ended up running into a poker player, staff member or someone from the ship I'd met and join them outside to eat.
Then I'd roll down to the poker room and open it up. Players were usually lingering around chatting while they waited for the tournament to start. We'd usually get coffee and BS for a bit. Once the tournament started I spent the rest of the afternoon building cash games and running drinks at the bar next to us.
Dinner time we would shut down the room and all go for supper. This was probably one of my favorite times of the day. Everyone would dress a little nicer than normal. We were all relaxed and out of our poker war zone mentalities, so conversation was usually a little better.
Night games would be fired up and the action was better. Some players would come and go to make it to a show with their wives etc. I would usually start games, then linger around the poker room and bar, entertaining younger ladies while getting my players drinks.
Once the games where established I'd either sit in a game or sit at the bar. Then I'd eventually get dragged up to the nightclub. If we were feeling up to it we would either go back to the poker room for drunk play or wander down to the suite for an after hours function.
This was DeiYuo's typical sea day on the poker cruise.
Port days were very nice, just replace getting up at noon, with, getting up at 9am, going to shore and doing exciting things.
Our next poker cruise is looking to be August 2008 out of Seattle up to Alaska. Check our website for Poker Cruise Information. Also, we had many people try to book late after booking was closed. If you are seriously interested in taking a poker cruise vacation, book in advance. Anything less than 2 months in advance is getting late.

Low-limit poker vs. Montana NL poker
 This seems to be one of the major issues with Montana and poker as it evolves over time.
I listen (mind you I'm usually working or trapped) to these poeple from all different skill levels/experiences of all types of poker games and I can't decide which game is better to play in terms of making the most money: low-limit hold'em or montana NL hold'em ($300 pot cap, if the pot is made before the river, all players just roll thier hands over and they bring the board and whoever wins wins).
The big detail I keep hearing is protection of "big hands". Now most of the debate I'm exsposed to is over "why is 36 off cracking my black aces EVERY TIME?" Now it's obvious to me how these low-limit games work. You get 9 players at a table with maybe one or two of them who have a clue, and then the majority of the table is made up of compulsive bad gamblers/donkeys just having fun. I've logged lots of hours playing that game and have seen very consistent positive results.
Now lets look at the NL game. You get a few different people at the table. Your 'entertainment' players typically stay away from this game since they don't want to lose thier bankroll on one hand. However, the remaining players at the table are still bad compulsive gamblers with a dose of agression. I don't see a significant difference in how bad or good this game is played. I still watch the black aces get stomped by A-wheel, 36 off, K9 suited.
So which game is really more profitable? Yes you can go on the heat and win $1000 at the NL table where you will never do that in one session in a 3-6 holdem game. But you're also not going to lose $150 on one hand when you make all the right desicions and the donkey calls and cracks you anyways. Also, you can read most any poker book and they all have some comment on how much a 'successful' player should be winning in a paticular limit poker game, but I've never read anything about how much you should expect to win at a NL cash game table.
PS: if you see me in real life and feel the need to tell me about your "bad beats", first, remove your head from your ass and have a nice piping hot cup of shut the fuck up. Log your bad beats, dont force people to listen to them.

November 25, 2007, 12AM: Played 6 hours, 30 minutes, Lost $327.00 at Napa Valley Casino
$3 No-Limit Texas Hold'em
 Lost a big pot against a dealer. Flop came 886 and I was holding 87s. I bet $20 and the villain raised to $65, I called and the small blind called. Turn came a 5, the small blind bets out $80, I call and the villain raised to $180, small blind calls, and I call. river came a K. Small blind checks, I check, and the villain goes allin. Small blind calls. Villain shows 79. Small blind didn't show. Total loss was -$248. I have to remember that this villain is liable to raise with a draw on a paired board.
Also lost another hand against a local. I raised in the big blind with AK of clubs to $37, only the local calls. The flop came K72 all hearts. I check the flop and the villain bets out $45, I call. The turn came a 9, I bet out $85, the villain raises to $185. I auto muck, the villain shows a set of 7s. I made a good laydown but I lost -$167.

November 25, 2007, 7PM: Played 4 hours, 12 minutes, Made $320.90 at Full Tilt
$22 Buy-In Pot-Limit Omaha Tournament (3rd out of 127 Players)
Got to final table a bit short.. grinding my way to 3 handed, chip stacks were, cowboy 130K, frog 130K and me about 30K. I grinded my ass off to become chip leader.
They both were weak and "easy" to outplay. I just needed time and they had no chance. Cowboy may have slightly. The truth is I was going to have to get unlucky to lose to them, which I did.
This hand was so sick that it doesn't even make me that frustrated, more like in shock.
I decide, Frog on my right is weakest of two and pick on him, then go after Cowboy once in awhile. Frog raise from his SB about pot. I call with 89TQ one suit. Flop is 893, I flop top two and a gutshot, great flop heads up. He bets pot, for about 50K, I move him in for another 20K, he calls.
The next two cards roll off, the pot goes to him and I'm like, what? He has AQT6, the flop is 892. He had no pair, the same QT draw as me and a gutshot 7. I can only lose to a 7 or an A then A,Q,T,6,2. Hand Odds
I lose the pot and go down to 20K, he now has 200K and Cowboy has 100K. Had I won I would have had 220K vs 100K and would have destroyed him.
I had to really keep my cool to continue, I just wanted to blast off my stack. I grind up to 50K again but then get busted with top and bottom pair with a gutshot vs top two.
All in all I played strong like bull and will seek more PLO tourneys. I seem to hold my own better here then NLH tourneys, since any agro can take an Ax against your QQ, KK and beat you almost a 1/3 of the time ;)

Top 10 or something get seats, I was short stacked the whole duration.
Blinds move quickly so it is all about survival. One hand had me confused, blinds 120/240, one limper, I shove in for 1400 with AJs, SB folds, BB calls all in for his life, limper mucks, BB has K8s? He wins.. then later A3s limps, I again move in and A3s calls and busts me...
Eric and I discussed this as it is frustrating. Although we keep getting our asses kicked by moronic calls and plays.. ALL we can do is play the hand to the best of our ability for all sutiations, which we do.
