Couple of Sit and Go's

Two sit and gos tonight. Both of which took forever to form but it's a Wednesday night.

Anyways, 6 person single table I went out in 3rd place. Yeah, I could've played better but I just wasn't feeling it at the table. My final hand ended up being QAs and losing to a K high flush.

9 person single table didn't start much better. I went out in 5th. It did seem like every time I won a big pot I would very soon find myself in the short stack again. Just frustrating.

Not really annoyed about the losses tonight though, just wasn't really in it mentally I guess.

3rd Set of a Hundred MTTs

So, I just finished my 300th tournament last night and I'm going to tally up what went down as I did the first 200.  During this set of 100 I started playing PokerStars along with Full Tilt.  PokerStars' tournament fields are significantly larger than Full Tilt, so my final table's will probably drop.

I played 64 tourneys on FTP and 36 on Stars.  I cashed in 40 of the 100 tournaments.  This is actually probably too high.  I need to be taking a few more shots that will bring my cash % down but my final table % up.  I had 5 final tables with two top 3's (no wins this 100 however).

I invested $305 into tourneys and cashed for $750 even.  $445 profit.

My goal from my last 100 MTTs for this set was to try to play my best game in every tourney.  I think I did this better than I had last 100 but this is an area that takes constant effort for anyone, and I am will continue to focus on this.  My goal for next 100 is to attack the late stages of the tournament better, and not get gun shy.  Last night I really blew a tourney because I didn't shove in a spot I knew I should of and it costed me.

February 13, 2008, 11AM: Played 3 hours, Lost $50.00 at Greektown Casino
$50 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (9th out of 54 Players)

$50 + $15 11:00 AM Daily No Limit Hold'em Tournament - 3,000 starting chips

Decided to go down and try a daily tournament to see what they were all about.  There is a 60 person (6 table) max on the tournaments so I am sure they fill up considering the weather and it was still almost full.

There was only 1 guy at the 1st table that was aggressive and he bet/bluffed his way off the table 1st.  Most pots were called with everyone limping at 1st, but by the 3rd round people opened up.  Most of the guys played liked donkeys and were throwing their chips around like nothing, with weak hands.

My 1st winner was K/Q, limped in middle with limpers ahead, and caught a K on the flop.  I was 2nd of 5 to act so I checked hoping for someone to take a stab at it but it was checked around.  Next card came the Q and I bet $200 and got one caller.  Bet $400 on the river and he called again.  The very next hand I was dealt A/A amd raised from 50 to 150 and everyone folded.

After that I had long runs w/o cards but was able to stick around.  Eventually we got down to the last 20 and I was still in it with about $4k. The action picked up some as most people either raised or got out.  With a little over $3k left I got all in with A/Qs against K/Q and J/J.  Ended up getting a low straight to take it all down.

At the final table the play was really tight.  One guy dropped out and the BB was at 1,800 with a $200 ante.  I was in the button and looked down to A/Ks and raised it up to $4,200.  The BB pushed and made it about $7,500 total, I called and his K/K held up.

I went out as BB, had about $2,200 left and I held 5/2 when the SB called.  Flop came 244, I pushed and SB showed 4 to take it.

Payouts were:

1st - $1,350
2nd - $675
3rd - $270
4th - $216
5th - $189

February 12, 2008, 10PM: Played 4 hours, Made $267.00 at Horseshoe
$3 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

Got dealt a lot of big hands this session, many didn't work out though. First flopped a set of 7s in a huge pot and held up against 88 on a flop of 754 when he called my all in.

Then I lost a huge pot with QQ when I raised some limpers, flopped an overpair, and had someone call my bet and suck out with trip 8s after he flopped middle pair with K8 on a J82 flop. Lost another big pot with QQ when I raised someone's UTG raise and he shoved and I had to fold after putting 60 in the pot. He showed Kings.

Turned it back around by winning 2 large pots with AA overpairs against a donk who shoved with top pair and another donk when I can't remember what happened.

February 12, 2008, 11PM: Made $5.31 at Full Tilt
$2 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (10th out of 229 Players)

Blew it.  28k with 600-1200 blinds.  I am in 5th of 10.  Button has bout same as me and raises to 4500 (strangely big but I didn't really know what to make of it) I have JJ in the BB.  Now with the size of his raise i was afraid to raise to like 12k and put nearly half my stack in so I just called (mistake).  Flop is T95 and I check to let him C-bet, he does, I shove, he calls with T9 and thats that.  If i reraise I know he is folding and I have 34k and am in 3rd with 10 to go.  Super Ultra Disapointed.

February 12, 2008, 6PM: Played 27 minutes, Broke Even at Poker Stars
Free-Roll No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (1,150th out of 1636 Players)

I did this in my other blog I just started... I think it applies here better though.  I dumbed it down incase someone decided to read.

I’ve decided to do play by occasional play of my most recent online poker tournament… this may be a long post, or I could do something shitty and it could be a short post. All of that being said, the fact that I’ve sucked recently, dictates that this be a free roll.

Being that it’s a free roll, a few things you should know:

1) It’s free.
2) People are maniacs.
3) The prize is really small for a large amount of dodging craziness and getting fortunate… but, as I said, it’s free.

The winner will receive a remarkable grand prize of $46.00 for navigating a field of 1636 overwhelmingly incompetent players.

We are starting at a table filled with remarkable luminaries of the poker world such as me (Steveinho), lvtogolf from Chesapeake, known for his love of golfing, and badlukjoe straight out of Gaffney, South Carolina, who’s unluckiness is notorious to anyone who’s ever played on Poker Stars.

Brian Voyetek, a Denver Broncos fan from Perris, is also stationed at the table and uses his full name, as though he would be recognized for some reason.

2nd hand of the tournament and I decided it’d be nice to try to steal a pot with 10-7 of hearts in my hand. To put 10-7 of hearts into perspective, it’s kind of like having… well, shit. Someone called me, the cards came out 9-J-9, which really isn’t any good. They bet, I decided to bluff and raise them… they bet more and I pussied out.

They were kind enough to share that their hand was AJ by pushing the “show hand to retard who bluffed you” button, and I responded by lying about the cards in my hand due to it being necessary for a poker player to have no class.

-8 minutes in. I’ve decided I need pumped up. Wu-Tang will be put on. If I pump myself up too much, I will turn to Radiohead which, unfortunately, pumps me up sometimes too.

-18 minutes in and 360+ players have been eliminated, owing to the cut throat prowess of all the skilled players in this event. 1/3rd of my stack is gone due to whiffing every time I raise and being called by at least 3 players each time. Boo hoo for me.

-26 minutes. Well, got my best hand of the night… AK suited. Bet early, got raised, shoved for my wittle itty-bitty stack by a guy who lost possibly the funniest pot in poker history the hand before and he, unfortunately, has pocket Kings. Need an A or a J for a while and, alas, it comes not to be.

This comes one hand after I insulted the player who busted me. Class and elegance escapes me.

1150 out of 1636. I guess the dream will have to wait one more day.

$55 Buy-In Omaha Hi-Lo Tournament (337th out of 445 Players)

Won this seat, top 100 win seats and the blinds are rediculiously high and quick.

For some reason my Omaha 8 game has been suffereing over the past year.  I can't figure it out.

If I had to guess it would be the following;

Over playing high hands heads up out of position(doing this as most players overplay low hands)

Limping/Raising in position with weak high hands, ex A38K

Playing hands with "danglers" A3K-8, A2Q-7, AAQ-8 etc

Not fully connecting with the board

I've decided to play in the $200 Limit O8 although I've played 4 satalites for it now with no success.

ONLINE POKE-------ME up :(

i guess i was not ready for the online poker. I mean that i play all the time online but not with real money. I noticed a great deal of difference between play and real money online poker players. They are a different type of tight in those small cash games i think. Almost crazy/tight you know....or maybe it was the table i don't know but i was just wondering why i got murdered when all i was doing was playing super tight/aggressive with good hands. maybe a bad run or players quickly picking up on my play or not the right type of play for the game... aghhh maybe some advice. Not persay "advice" but tactics for these online games. reload.....???? also im thinking of only playing tourneys with 300 ppl or more and only try to grind them out for the big money wins..Y or N instead of cash games, tourneys only?? i seem to be better at tourneys (controlling my play)

$20 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (19th out of 36 Players)

lol ran really good first two rounds....then two tables left second hand on the table im on the button and everyone folds to me. I have 6d3d i decide to get "creative" i.e. try to push the blinds around. The flop comes 3s3c5c. So my bluff started to look good and i could make some value bets. I did then on the river i get raised and he moves. My dumbass saw the clast club on the river but did not want to give it up. Dammit.......he has Q8 of c. I got stuck and over half my chips were in the pot for the for sure DOMINANT chip lead if i won.

February 10, 2008, 9PM: Played 6 hours, 4 minutes, Lost $200.00 at Forrests
$2 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

doubled early when i flopped a set and got it allin vs asohrt stack on a straight draw, a short stack with top pair and BJ, who flopped top pair and a flush draw. http://onlinepokerlog.com/odds/holdem/5c5s-JdTd-Jh8d-3s4c/Jc5d2d nice hold. didnt do anything for awhile. then this older guy came in. i think he was pretty much wasted and he coudlnt play worth a damn. so i waited for a spot to get it in against him. i had AQ in the bb and everyone limped. this guy wanted to raise but he couldnt figure how to put his chips out without it being a string bet. i was about to make it $30 more to isolate him, but the dealer flopped it without my option. anyway, flop came down As4s5h. everyone checked around to him and he bet $100 into about a $14 pot. at this point i put him on an ace weaker than mine or some small pair, but i know he could have a flush draw. i'm certain that my hand is best, so i check raise to put him allin for about $120 more. he calls. the board comes 5s, 7s. 4 spades on board and i dont have one. i turn my hand up. he looks at his cards and the board for long time like he's trying ti figure out what he has. all the player and some of the people watching start saying everything that can beat me and asking him if he has this or that, trying to help him. "do you have a spade? all you need is one.""do you have a six? and six beats him." so he turns over a six, 56h to beat me. whatever happened to one player to a hand? i dont think he understood he had a straight til someone told him. nice suck out. i had a little left over and a couple of hands later, he doubled me when i moved allin preflop with QQ for $75 and he called with Q5h. but i lost another big pot soon after. i only smooth call a raise with JJ. flop comes Q high, we check it around, the button moves all like i thought he would. he bet $80 into abou a $30 pot. i call with JJ. he shows me AJo. spikes an ace on the turn to beat me. wtf man? at the end, i gave away $120 when the game was near braking. this guy started talking about moving allin so he could go. so he moves in and shows jacks. the very next hand he moves in again. i have T7d and ask him if he will run it twice if i call. he says sure and turns over KK. jeez, back to back monsters after declaring he was gonna move in? i missed both times anyway...i thought my shitty luck was over after winning 3 sessions in a row, but i got thumped back to earth tonight with 3 pretty aweful bad beats. gay
