May 4, 2008, 12PM: Played 1 hour, 15 minutes, Made $54.50 at OPL INVITATIONAL
$5 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (1st out of 11 Players)

The new champ.....lol.

It was a lot of fun playing against all the OPL people, and some good poker friends.  I was a few hands late, computer problems.

Just sat back and relaxed till I got in a heads up situation with pocket 7s.  I flopped a set after making the standard raise and slow played.  Luckily, the turn paired the board and hit my opp. middle pair to give him trips.  So, doubled up there.

Later on, DeDobber was getting a bit too agro with his AX, and I caught him when I had AQ.

Then......the best hand of the day! Jesse is short stacked, bout 2400 I guess, I have almost 8k.  I limp with my favorite hand, and he shoves except for one chip.  I flop an open ender against his AA, and spike it on the turn.  Sweet victory! I am sure Jesse would have chosen any other situation but that to lose to me.  But, had to get that ten dollar bounty.

Got heads up and battled for a little while, where I finally crippled her with 78 suited, flopping a pair and flush draw.  She turned the straight, and I turned the flush.

And the rest as they say is history.  Lots of fun, can't wait to play it again, win or lose.

Thanks for the good times y'all!

May 2, 2008, 2AM: Played 3 hours, Made $355.00 at Big Daddy's
$3/6 Texas Hold'em

Recruited a few players from the bar and KGB to go play in a crazy game...so the rumor was.  The rumor was true, and we filled up the 5 handed game with probably 2500 on the table, yes, thats right....2500 five handed 3-6 game.  One guy had almost a thousand in front of him, and proceeded to lose all of it, plus two hundred more.

This was a game that was capped pre, every hand and every suckout imaginable.  U won the first pot with k8, making two pair and it holding up.  Of course, by the time I got cozy, I was getting people to play in the dark, till at least the flop, and then playing from then on out.  57 was golden for me twice.  My buddy Dave would be proud, as he has dubbed that hand, "Philipino Big Slick" from his many days of playing cards.  He is over 70 years old, but still has the spunk of a college boy.  So, I did him proud, and moved up the ranks to Secretary of the PBS club....lol!

Other than that...there were just big swings and huge pots.  Good win for me, after lacking some confidence, even though this type of game does not warrent good poker playing.  Help pay for some car repairs though...much needed!

April 26, 2008, 7PM: Played 1 hour, Lost $110.00 at Big Daddy's
$100 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (17th out of 29 Players)

This was a private tournament held by one of our guests, and was invitation only.  Everyone had a bointy on there head for 25 bucks a piece.

I started off playing very well, and just lingering around.  We combined tables, where one of the favorite assholes was sitting at our table.  Of course the dealer was nudging me to bust him...which would have been nice all things considered.  But, I made a horrible misread when he min raise UTG, I go over the top for 3.5 times that bet, and he moves all in.  I forgot who I was playing against, and made a horrible call with tens.  He had KK which I put him on, but could not believe it.  Even if he had AK, the last thing I want to do is get in a race at that point in the tournament.  So, I busted out.  The good thing, is even with al my chips, he did not place and the dealers still did ok on tokes.

I am really not playing well lately.  Not running the best either, but I usually can overcome that with solid A game play.  So, small break time for me to get my head on straight, plus the money situation isnt that good at the moment.

May 4, 2008, 2AM: Played 1 hour, 30 minutes, Broke Even at Home Game
$30 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (3rd out of 6 Players)

This was strange and fun.

Playing a home game tourney with Jason and his Grad Student friends.  They are interesting guys and I didn't really know any of them other than 2-10 minutes interactions if that.

Once they played poker their true colors came out.

Anyways.. we get down to 3 handed then I go out.  The very next hand my friend gets JJ and makes a small raise and the agro kid shoves in with A2 and wins the tourney.

What is funny about this is the kid wouldn't take our money and handed it back to everyone.  He is not wealthy nor a gambler.. he actually is really religious and said he had fun and could not except it.

He played great and played with a ton of heart and instincs.  Fun stuff.

May 4, 2008, 2AM: Played 1 hour, Lost $3.30 at Full Tilt
$3.30 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (25th out of 131 Players)

This was in the back ground as I was watching a movie etc.

Before I new it I was chip leader or 2nd and had a huge stack...

Then disaster struck..  JTs mid/late pos, blinds 250/500 and I raise to 1200.  Get a caller and see flop of T32 and I fire out 1800, he min raises me and I just call.  The turn is a J giving me top two.  I check and he bets 7k.. I move all in and he calls 9k more... I assumed I'd see AJ or maybe KK be he rolls over Q9s and has a flush and straight draw and hits it.  Only had 14 outs since I locked up one heart with one card to come :(.  This cripples me and I go out a few hands later.

What annoys me about this is the idiot called a riase pre with the hand but more so that when he totally missed the flop he tried to bluff me off with Q9 high no draw no pair.

Glad it was only $3 tourney :)

May 4, 2008, 12AM: Played 2 hours, 6 minutes, Made $586.00 at Full Tilt Poker
$24 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (1st out of 90 Players)

Hanging out in Napa...go drinking with my cousins? Sure, after I blow off $26 on this knockout tourney.  2 hours later I get my personal best win.

Knocked out 9 players for $36, plus $550 for the win.

So, how did it happen? Well, let's see where I got lucky:

Early on, knocked out two players with 77 (vs AA and AK).

I can live with one super lucky card every two hours and still be happy with the way I played.  I can't say I deserved first in this thing, though.  After the second break we were three handed, and I probably had QKA in my hand 90% of the time.  Also: the chip leader played like a short stack, so I guess he didn't deserve to win either.  I was so hot, though, that I even survived a crippling mistake to make the chips like 240k vs 30k and still came back and won it.

I wonder how I played in this hand, though.  I folded to an all-in bet against a couple short stacks.  I think it was probably the right move as I was stuck in the middle...then again, perhaps I fold as well if I'm last to act and two short stacks have called.

May 3, 2008, 10PM: Lost $3.30 at Full Tilt
$3 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (91st out of 432 Players)

guy opened for 500, button called, SB called....based on each of the caller's prev. play i knew they were kind of weak and I thought if i shoved my 1800 the original raisor would also reraise to isolate....so I shipped it with JJ and the orig raisor shoved and the button called...so i have a shot to more than triple up against two players and I am amazingly lucky enough to be up against only AJ and 66 with my JJ...and the SB said he folded an A...no problem...A peeled off and i go home

only a few more tourneys tonight to get a good score in

$26 Buy-In Pot-Limit Omaha Tournament (12th out of 134 Players)

Knockout PLO.. 1 from the money was gruelling since the big stack calling machine was directly on my left.

Could not steal the blinds and he would often call pot raises pre.

Intersting hand.. AAxx UTG and I dumped it to eeke in.  This pays off and then when I make the money and go in I triple up and some to have over 12K.

Blind off more and make the next pay level of 12.. 1 major short stack so 2 more to go and we are at the final table.  Once there I can pick spots better and move up.

In the SB with QQK9 or QQK8 and decide to raise my maniac neighbor with it.  He puts me all in for a bit more.  I'm happy to see he has QQJ3 but then his kickers make two pair and I'm out..

Happy to get this far but really was in the mood to make a final table.

May 3, 2008, 3AM: Played 4 hours, Made $51.79 at Full Tilt
$2 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (4th out of 272 Players)

Played 4 handed for about 12 years.  Finally reshoved with Q6 on a guy the 4th straight time he raised my BB out of the SB.  Stack sizes were good to get a fold from a good range of hands but he woke up with AQ...unlucky, whatever.

I feel like I played well and stayed aggressive during the last two tables which I am happy about.  Also picked up a lot of big hands and won two healthy sized races so I can't complain.  Hope I can win one quick before I go cold for another 3 months.

Oh and I won a dollar off of Jaspinal.  With about 115 left he had an average stack in the Ferg and I gave him 6-1 he wouldn't make the final table.  He was in really good shape with about 3-4 tables left but couldn't win a few key races.  For a second I was thinking about asking to be let out for $2 or $3 lol.  Anyways, I am not including that bet in my log...just fun anyways.  GG jasp.
