$0.10/0.20 Texas Hold'em

Time: 2:30PM-5:45PM
Hands Dealt: 189

Although my numbers do not show a major drop in the last week, I felt like I was in a mini-slump. Felt like I could not get anything going. I am really happy after today's session. Started out slow and then just started picking up pots. Strong cards that held up more then loss helped, as I won 18 of the 24 hands that went to showdown. It also helped that there were a lot of donators in the game. Several people buying in for $1-$2, calling every hand pre-flop, hoping for a quick win.

July 4, 2008, 10PM: Played 2 hours, 30 minutes, Made $420.00 at The Village Club
Texas Hold'em

Let me just start off by saying "The Banker" is back in business! I had a very lovely fourth of July coming up big at the village. The first good sized pot I won was when I had pocket Queens on the big blind. I re raised and got it down two heads up (exactly what i wanted). The board came 8 K 8. I checked and the guy I was heads up with looked down at his cards, and shoved his rack in with the rest of his chips, which was a little over pot size. I told myself if a A or K flopped I would lay down "The ladies". But something told me I had the best hand. If this "Donk" really had a King would he really push all in like that? What was he scared of, an Ace turning? but wait he would love that if he had AK like he was claiming to have. Plus the way he shoved it in had bluff written all over it. Something was screaming to me AQ, AJ, or smaller pocket pair. So I looked at him and said "I got the best hand, I call" and flipped over my Queens. He looked at me and said, "How the hell do you call that, there's a King out there!" At the end he flipped over pocket Jacks and said "Horrible call". I looked at him and said, "If you wouldn't have played it so horribly I honestly would of folded, thanks for the chips!" I laughed as I took in the pot! Wow you should of seen his face....Priceless! Set his ass on major tilt! Gotta love it!

A few hands later a guy on "Tilt" pushed all in pre flop for 40 dollars. I pushed all in for 140 on the dealer button with pocket Kings. I thought he didn't have anything to good but to my surprise he had Queens. No bad beat and went to the final table with 180 bucks.

A couple hands in I get pocket Queens under the gun. I limp of course and "Chung" (a degenerate gambler that works at the village) makes it 25 dollars to go. the big blind calls the 25 dollars. Hes the chip leader with about 1000 dollars behind. Figuring I'm happy with the 60 dollar pot I limp ALL IN on these two degenerate gamblers! Chung says I think I have the best hand. And I tried to talk him out of it because it was 155 dollars more to him. I told him to just let go of his AK and I would show him my cards after I fold. But after he thought about it for about 1 minute he said you got AK or pocket 10's, I call! Then the chip leader big blind cried for a while and told me that I have pocket Six's and that I was trying to steal the 60 bucks. After about a minute he threw over A 10 suited and said I fold the best hand. I quickly flopped over Queens and Chung kept his cards face down. The flop came A 10 blank and the big blind started to yell and complain! HA HA HA. Then the river came a King. So I was like shit he at least has A or K I'm screwed. Chung flips over JJ and says good hand I thought you had 10's or lower or AK. HA HA HA. What a donk! I play super super tight, I at least have to have QQ or KK for me to make that move. As for the big blind well I was raking in the HUGE put and he was bitching, I said "Thanks for making a horrible fold"! He almost flips out and says hes going after me and that he's going to make me go broke....

My final hand I won was with AK of hearts. The chip leader that was "out to get me" made it 12 to go. I smooth called hoping to "flop it big". There was 4 of us in the hand with a 50 dollar pot. board came K 10 Blank. I checked, ready to check raise the chip leader who always c-bets the flop when he raises pre flop. Everyone checks to him as planned and he makes it 15 to go. I don't slow play my top pair top kicker and check raise to 50 bucks. Everyone folds and the sick bastard calls cause hes "out to get me". Turn comes a blank and at this point I have a lot behind and he covers me so I was "Playing scared" so I checked to see what he would do. He bet out 40 dollars, and I just called. I was a bit scared he might have two pair. River came another King. So i thought, well only thing that beats me is a full house and if he did have two pair with no King, hes screwed now. So I made a value bet of 50 dollars on the river and he called me with K 9 of club. I flipped over my AK and said, "Send it"! After that hand I only played a few more hands cause I was already up three times my buy in which most pros suggest you leave and be happy with your winnings. So I'm very proud of myself I was able to get up and walk away 420.00 dollars up! Back in the positive baby!

July 1, 2008, 6PM: Lost $198.00 at The Village Club
Texas Hold'em

Hopefully this will be first of many online blogs. I've been playing poker for approximately 3 years now. About a two years ago I started playing 2-3 no limit at The Village Club in Chula Vista. I started with 50 dollars for my first buy in and within six months of playing I turned it into 4,000 dollars. Not quite bad if you ask me. I remember in two weeks of playing I won 7 times in a row! People began to consider me a very skilled player. I even got the nickname "The Banker" by a degenerate gambler named James that played with me everyday. He said he nicknamed me "The Banker" because I always had all the money on the table.

I took a break from poker for about a year but now I'm back. I wanted to start a Poker Blog to see how much I was winning or losing. I started writing down my wins and losses since June 2008. My friend Christian (Model Mercado) and I both agreed to start from June 2008. We both had a ruff start with myself being down -198 for the month and Mercado down -300. Hopefully I make a comeback....and well for Mercado...hopefully he actually gets a bankroll so he can have money to make a comeback! HA HA HA. More to come.....

July 3, 2008, 11PM: Played 2 hours, Made $75.00 at Big T's (Tony) Home
$0.5/1 Texas Hold'em

So I started playing poker at Big T's home in the beautiful neighborhood of Otay Ranch. Before we play cash games we play a sit and go tournament ranging from 18-30 players. I hate sit and gos because I believe its a "Crap Shoot" once the blinds become large in the later part of the small MTT (Multi Table Tournament). Because of this I decided to no longer play in them because it's a waste of 20 bucks, based on the fact there's little skill involved and more based on luck.

After the MTT we played a friendly .50 cent - 1 dollar cash game. I bought in for 25 dollars which was the average everyone was buying in for. I enjoy the home games for multiple reasons. One reason being that there's no rake! Two because the blinds are lower so I get to play more hands and play a different style I play at a casino level. I get to play way more aggressive and bluff a lot more. Three the people who play do not play no where near as much as people play in the casino and as much as I play. I feel nobody comes close to as good as I am at home games.

Basically it was a good night for me. I bought in for 25 dollars and ended up leaving with 4 times my buy in (100 dollars). I did this all within two hours of play. Pretty impressive if you ask me. I feel I really needed this win due to the fact I am down for the month of June. Got to love 75 dollar profit!

Time: 6:30PM-9:30PM

Writing this almost a week after the session, I honestly can not remember anything from it worth writing about. I am sure it was the same as every other session. Up, down, dodge landmines, hope your pocket AA or KK does not get ran over by someone calling your raise with 83s UTG and hitting their flush card on the river. I really need to get up the next limits, and quick, before I go crazy. All I can do is play my game, and hope for the best.

One month in, I am up $35.02 (not counting bonus/rakeback) which is 23% of the $150 I need before I can play at the next limits. Win rates of $.62/hour, 2.78BB/hour, 4.30BB/100 hands.

$0.10/0.20 Texas Hold'em

Time: 6:00PM-10:00PM
Hands Dealt: 292

For the two people that actually read my blog, no I did not die. Between work and school, I have been to busy to play poker. When I did have some free time this weekend, the game was not even going.

Session started out good. Strong pocket pairs were coming often and actually were holding up, even making trips or quads on the flop. Easily up $3 in the first hour. Then it started to go downhill, fast! I was card dead, and I overplayed some hands that I should have just laid down. When I did make a good hand, it would of course, lose on the river to a hit flush draw. Started out winning 7 of 8 hands that reached showdown. After that, I won 6 of 23.

Win rate is 3.61 BB/hour, 5.42BB/100 hands. I guess that is still good, but the sessions the last couple of weeks have been discouraging.

I guess I will just try again tomorrow, see if my luck changes any. Another session like the one today, and I might seriously consider giving this up.

POKER IN DENMARK.......æ ø Å Æ Ø

i happen to come across a house game that my danish cousin knew about because it was his neighbor. Im still in Denmark visiting friends and family, but this house game was soooooo fun.

The players were ok but i could tell there where no true players in the game, but my experience gave me a victory in a different country... Swoop!!!!!! its crazy how different the game can be with COMPLETE strangers..

the buy in was 300 kroner... the exchange rate is 4.9 krowns to the dollar so it was about a 60 dollar buy in to play. It was fun because there were 8 players so the table was full to start.

I had to lay down top two pair three handed because he lit up like a flare when the diamond came on the river and he just cold called my flop and turn bet. Then ofcourse he sits for a second and bets huge into me....

It was so intense, but so much fun. i will be back on the 8th of july, so watch out SPOKANE.....!!!!!

July 2, 2008, 1AM: Played 2 hours, Made $2.00 at Full Tilt
No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (14th out of 2700 Players)

Kind of fun to get this deep in this big a field.  Started this tournament when I started my other real ones for the night and of course this is the only one I get deep in lol.  Would have been really fun to take it down just because there were so many people but I was pretty card dead near the end.  Shoved on a guy w/ just bottom pair to pick up a little bit before having to shove again from the button with Q8s after MP limped....had a decent shot for all folds but he woke up with 77 and i lost the race.

July 1, 2008, 11PM: Lost $2.25 at Full Tilt
$2 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (109th out of 255 Players)

Wow, very weird hand.  Blinds are 50-100.  I am BB.  UTG limps.  UTG+1 raises to 250.  MP calls.  Folds around to me in the BB with AKs.  I make it 1001.  Only MP calls.  Flop comes J66.  There is now about 2600-2700 in the pot and I have about 3400 left.  This is a bit of an over shove but I shoved and I think its the right play.  Amazingly the dude calls and has J9! The flop call isn't horrible (especially after he makes the call pre he has to call the flop)...but his preflop call is atrocious.  One of the worst I have seen in a while.  Made me think of Sportcenter's Not-Top 10.  Anyways...I know the AK can be played diff there but I think this is a very viable option...to anyone with half a brain I look like I have QQ-AA (especially given my raise out of the blinds preflop after a lot of action already).
