August 2, 2008, 11PM:
August and My Goals

I worked at a sports camp all summer up to this point and have been living in a dorm at U of M.  Any job that pays you for watching TV and playing ping pong is awesome but it was tough to play any tournaments other than the ones from 12:30-2am.  I can't complain as many of my friends (and those in the real world outside of college) work schedules that restrict there time for poker even more.

However, if I had it my way I would be able to make enough playing poker that it would be my only responsibility during the summer.  That is what I will come close to living for the next three and a half weeks before school starts up again.  Because of this I have decided to lay out a few goals for the high-volume month ahead:

1) Play my best despite any bad run of cards, beats, or bubble bust outs.

2) Read the Apestyles/Rizen/PearlJammed book I bought a few weeks ago.

3) Win something.

4) Get my first $400+ score.

5) Start running again to get in shape and possibly win my weight loss bet with Jaspinal (long shot).

I am also running a $10 tournament at my house in a week that I hope to get about 20 people for.  I have run several tournaments like this in the past and they have been pretty fun and fairly profitable lol.  I will have to spend the next week calling people over and over because it is very hard to get anyone to commit to anything.  Oh well, I have fun doing it.

I look forward to what I hope will be my highest volume, and most successful month playing mtt's ever, but either way I hope I come out a better poker player and still excited about the game.

Good luck everyone and keep posting!

August 2, 2008, 8PM: Played 2 hours, Lost $26.00 at FT
$24 Buy-In Pot-Limit Omaha Tournament (49th out of 179 Players)

Played great and get myself into a great position for all my chips. In sb I have JJT9 with an obvious AAxx raise and one other caller.  Flop J25 rainbow.  I checked to let the AA hang himself, he did but the caller also called.  I push for about 8K the AA thinks and calls the other guy calls as well he has 345blah of course he is the table chip leader and hits the 6 on the river.  Can't ask for a much better position as this hand would have put me in the top 3 in chips.  I would make the play again every time.

August 1, 2008, 12AM: Played 30 minutes, at full tilt
$20 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (1st out of 4 Players)

played 2 sngs.  both 10 buy ins.
#1 heads up limit.  accident. didnt mean to play
#2 4 player shootout. started 30 seconds after the first.
shit was crazy. i couldnt even think about a hand.  i easily rolled over the nl 1 player while trying to keep up with the limit game. i finally beat that guy and was able to concentrate on the nl game.  was at the final with a chip deficit.  caught a gutshot broadway and moved in. dude called with second pair. it was clear sailing from there.

now we are even from last night.

July 31, 2008, 8PM:
$26 tourney last night

So after I little while of taking some nasty beats I've been playing pretty well.  I won into FTOPS #1 but can't play so I just took the tourney dollars.  I was deep in the $24 8 o'clock tournament tonight but donnked out.  Yesterday I got really deep ending up finishing 35th or so.  One guy sucked out twice on me which would have put me in really good position with first getting $7500.

First hand I raise to 14k with KJ in the SB with blinds 2k/4k.  He immediately shoves for ~70k (he did the exact same thing the round before that with hand between us two).  I called and he showed K3.  7-7-10-7-10.  Not cool.

A little later in the tournament me and the same guy both have about ~60k.  Guy in late position limps, I call with QTo and BB checks.  Flop comes Q-6-4.  Checks around.  Turn 2.  I bet 15k into a pot of about 25k and he goes all in and limper folds.  I think for a little bit and he shows Q8 only to spike the 8 on the river.

I think I would have been sitting about 10 of 35 had I won that hand.

The worst part about it in my opinion is that the guy that sucked out on those two hands which would have knocked him out is that he went on the win the tournament...

July 31, 2008, 2PM: Played 4 hours, Made $4.95 at Poker stars
$2.75 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (85th out of 2052 Players)

in a half hour my 2 best hands were KK and AK and i was in early position and the 1 or 2 people behind me fold i bet 3 times bb and everyone folds to me so not a lot of action that first 30 mins
at 50 mins in i got AK middle position and one person limp behind me i do the 3 times bb everyone folds again not bad i took the blinds and the guy who limped (bb-100)

my Favorite play of the night was i had KJ i call a 3 times the BB and the flop is K87 and guy bets 600 i fold bc ive been watching this guy and they way he was doing everything its just like he had AK or AA so i folded he showed the AK
next hand i have AT and this other guy BIG DONEKY pushes me i call bc hes had this WEIRD HUGE range he was playing with and he had 88 i won ( at this point i had 16 time the bb, another reason y i called)
i get JJ next hand get another 1500 and i have about 5000 now. i had KT of spades i had about 3500 blinds were 125/250 25ante thats 14 times bb and that antes there so i limp (i need to know what to do there?) it is Jh Td 5s i just pushed and get called with AJ i catch a K on the river so i have like 8k and i won a few lil hands and up to 10k

2 and a half hours in i have AA and this guy Directly to the right of me riases 3 times bb 5 hands in a row and never got to the river and showed so im thinking hes going crazy he does the same thing for the 6th time in a row and i have AA i call and someone eles calles flop is 5s 3c 3d the other guy bets 1500 and i raise 4500 he instint calls and the turn is an 2h he goes all in i call and he has 75 of hearts?????? so im in 18th place with 230 left

JJ 8 hands later and that same guy who had 7 5 bets i call flop is Jh Kh 7h he pushes i call bc of his crazy plays before he has QdTd so ya turn is 7c river is Ks

AK agian no action then AK Very next hand and lost 7000 to A9

July 31, 2008, 2AM: Made $71.43 at Full Tilt
$3 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (5th out of 431 Players)

Finally a nice score.  I am happy that it plugs up my losses for the last few weeks, but disapointed w/ the finish after reaching the final table.  I had a great opportunity for a top 3 here.

I can't complain because I finally won 2 big races (I lost a huge one for the chip lead with 5 left though :( lol) and got away with a lot of steals in position when I was short.

There were a few guys limp/folding waaay too much and I was able to take advantage of that while waiting for a big hand to finally double up with when I was pretty short.

Anyways, glad to get of the shnide (sp?) but hungry for a win.  My job is done here on campus and I will be going home on Sunday where I should be able to put in a pretty sick amount of tourneys before the school year starts.

$0.25 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (230th out of 3011 Players)

Super fun tourny in 13 mins i had AA KK JJ and AA i doubled up to 3000 then i had kk a few hands later and someone i cant remember what position but pry late bc someone went all in then someone eles called that and i called. One guy had AK and the other person had JQ flop is T J J so im thinking w/e im back down to 1500 ( bc they both had about 1500 stacks) so turn is an A (i think, i dont remember bc it didnt matter anymore) but the river is a K WOW one outer lol. so i have about 5500 in 13 mins. stay pretty consistent through out the tourny. Now i just made it past the cashing mark and my mom had to get on the computer to check something before she went to bed so shes on for a while and my stack was 4500 at the time and i come back and its like 3500 and i get KK hahaha i dont remember exactly what happened but i like triple up and i have 10500 ( ill find them later and post them on pokerxfactor if u want to see or maybe on here) i ended up getting no cards and had 7k when bb was 1k so yup lost with QT its allright fun tourny

What's up? New Job

So I've been busy and not looking at everyone's logs like usuall.

Just curious how everyone is doing and to welcome new people.

I myself took a job managing a card room in Butte Montana while I wait on gaming paper work from this state to get finished.

It has been a few years for me since working in a poker room.  It is great move for me right now.  It allows myself to earn money working, taking all pressure off playing performance.  Plus I'm back in full action playing live on a consistant basis.

I hope everyone is well.
