October 7, 2008, 1AM: Played 8 hours, 30 minutes, Made $230.00 at Lucky Lil's - Great Falls
$225 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (5th out of 47 Players)

What a grind.. work my way to the final table.

Lowest in chips with 10 players left, only the top 4 really make any money, $1000 ish and more.

Jimmy is at the final table with me and we both are in short stack steal/grind mode trying to outlast the others.

I manage to pick the right spots to steal and attack.  At times not looking at my hand to go all in to ensure I pull the trigger.

My only mistake at the final table was when in the BB with two limpers the flop came down 27J two spades.  I held the 92 of spades.  The UTG limper checked, button bet 5K.  I called assuming if he had air he would take the free card on the turn.  Instead he fired off 7.5k and I had only 9K.  I layed it down, in retrospect I should have check raised all in or folded.

GO back to the grind and build my stack into second place.  Had the chip leader on my right and two easy reads on my left fueling my stack.

Disaster struck in the BB with KK when AJ donkey makes a raise and when I move in he can't fold.  I'm left with >20K in chips and short stacked.  I do my best to grind with 5 players left but have nothing to work with.

Had I won that KK pot I would have been chip leader with 4 left and "easily" should have taken top two.

October 6, 2008, 7PM: Played 1 hour, Lost $250.00 at Butte Lucky Lil's
$2 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

The heater is over.

Basically two hands went wrong. First one I have KQ suited, raise preflop. Get some callers. Flop is J73 or some shit. I flop the flush draw. I lead out, get raised by frank the donkey, I shove all-in for 150, he calls with bottom set. I put him on a weak pair thinking that he had me on A-face that missed the flop. Misread and missed draw for $300.

Next hand I have QQ, raise preflop form late position and just have the BB call. Flop is J86 with two clubs. BB had 5c7c, so he flops the worlds fair draw. We get into a little raising war and eventually get all in on the flop. He hits the str on turn and I'm drawing dead. I had just as many outs to win that pot though.

Anyway, if it's a coin flip and I win, I've got a huge stack. I think I had to call his all-in because I was already comitted to the pot. Should I have just shoved? (Not that it would have changed the outcome)....tough...

September 28, 2008, 11PM: Played 3 hours, 30 minutes, Made $855.00 at Lucky Lils
$2 Pot-Limit Omaha

We played PLO high and split.  This was a case of really watching how little people know about this game...including myself in the split.  I did make a couple of $300 pots which got me off to a good start...but after that it was all small ball.  I wish we could play omaha every night down there with these guys.  Other than Jesse, I don't know if any of them have a clue (maybe Marcus a little - he is starting to get more aggressive which is really helping his game post flop) Dave Whalen is fair but I think its time I start giving him some reverse tells and fucking this guy in the ass.  All in all it was a really good night tho...I played 3 hands a little passively but no real damage was done to me due to the weakness of the players.

$6 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (15th out of 1557 Players)

Damn....pissed about this one...I played in my opinion perfectly...the hand I busted on I had A10o in middle position...blinds were 4000/8000 and UTG shoved an 80,000 stack....his range is really wide there, so I decided to isolate shove with 160,000....there were only two big stacks behind me and if they had called and lost they would be crippled so I figured they would only call with huge hands....big stack called after contemplating with 1010....man....I might still win the best double finish jackpot...Here's a sick hand I played against a tight passive player that I knew I could bluff eventually...

September 25, 2008, 6AM: Played 7 hours, 30 minutes, Made $850.00 at Lucky Lils
$2 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

Started the night playing pretty solid poker...good reads, laydowns, bluffs, raises...everything working well.  Climbed to about $600 sugar before the drunken buffoons started ramming every pot.  Came off almost all of it (Still playing fairly strong) got it back plus a little more.  Could have cashed out about $250 more sugar than what was recorded...but I was lucky to make that because it became a huge crap shoot.  Tried to see alot of flops with the crazies for $30 or less preflop.  If I hit and thought I was the best hand I only had to fade to cards that way instead of 5.  Played A-9 and higher, pocket pairs and two face cards usually preflop unless the pot was giving to great of value to lay down small connecters suited or unsuited.  I was staked in the game by my good friend Blom, so I had no risk of loss; but I only got half the win...which I was very glad to share.  I seem to play better lately playing with his money - because I don't drink and I seem to stay focused much better.

$2 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

finally my first live cash game in forever...i forgot how bad these rednecks play. i had never played with most of these guys before, so my plan was to sit back and watch until i had a feel for the table. and the cards made it easy for me. i folded for 2 straight hours, only playing one pot from outside of the blinds. finally picked up a hand to play, JJ in late position and was about to raise the 5 limpers when i noticed the guy next to me was reaching for chips, so i just limped too. this made it $12 to go and by the time it got back to me, there was nearly $80 in the pot, so my shove for $150 more was pretty automatic. i knew that if i got called i would most likely be facing only one over card. the guy next to me who started it all didnt take very long to call with 66 and i doubled up. he said he thought i had AK. nice call buddy...feels good to get back in it. playing on the internet is alot harder than this.
