February 12, 2009, 1AM: Played 2 hours, 30 minutes, Made $307.00 at Commerce Casion
$1/2 Texas Hold'em

I havent played live at the casino for over 3 months felt much better than sitting on te computer. Folded first two orbits! So i was sitting with about 94 when I cought aces raised 8 pre flop guy raised to 22. I decided to smooth call since i didnt want to lose him he was kinda loose. Decided whatever the flop was to check raise him all in. He bet 30 flop was 578 all hearts i had ace of hearts i shoved all in about 70 more to him. He had jacks i doubled up. Very next hand i had ak suited in the bb. Same guy raised to 20 i was hopeing he was tilted so i re raised him 50 on top, tryed to take it down there. Thought about it and shoved for about the same as my stack. Plus all the time he took i knew he didnt have aa and unlikley kk and he asked me a couple of questions that i didnt answer. I could not fold after that and i raised 50 more. It worked out he had qq coin toss and i floped the ace.

February 8, 2009, 6PM: Played 4 hours, Made $99.68 at FT
$10 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (6th out of 207 Players)

First hand AKs vs AQs vs KJo.  Get all in pre and lose to the AQ flush on the river. Really short and see wht I'll do from here

Smehow I make it back to over 5K in chips at the break. Playing aggo and fearless. I will see how far I go with theis strategy.

At second break I am 2 of 31 left. Playing a combination of math and feel which seems to work for me the best.  If I rely too much on one or the other I don't play loose/tight enough. Trusting my gut seems to be the best.  This seems to to about 1/2 bottle of Jack deep in a tounrey.  Now it is time to lay off the Jack and play for the win.

Played solid and aggressive and made the final table. now just picking spots and feeling my way through. Have been everywhere from 2nd to last in chips at the final table.

Picking and choosing then pick up AJs in bb with a raise from one behind button.  I push and he shows Ak and holds. I pick up KS in sb for all-in but lose to Ax.  Good tourney.  Not too much I can say I would do differently.

February 1, 2009, 1PM: Played 8 hours, Made $320.00 at Eastlake Country club
$60 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament

Largest home game tournament I have ever played in. There was about 130 people entered to play. I made it to the final table where we decided to chop it 10 ways. Chip leader received 1,000 and the rest of us 520.

I made a deal with Mikey and Ralph that whoever would win would pay the others buy-ins. I should of known those two were dead money! So I payed out 120 to those two kids and tipped 20 to tourny staff. After my 60 buy-in I came up 320 profit. Not bad for a win! I have been needing this win let me tell you!

January 28, 2009, 9PM: Played 2 hours, Made $150.00 at Lucky Lils Butte
$2-$6 Spread-Limit Texas Hold'em

Jumped in and played the freeroll.  Decided not to buy in anymore than the 25 I won by winning the freeroll.  Was kind of short in the pocket book, and didnt feel like playing that much.  I waited around for a couple of hours and watched TV till my seat got open.  I catch the nuts with my fav (TJ) and then a few hands later and did it again.  The game was super loose, so the pots were big.  I was up a hundy in the first 15 minutes.  I took down a couple more pots and then just skated along.  Was up to 200 juice, and played it down to 150 and bailed.

January 28, 2009, 7PM: Played 2 hours at Green Valley Ranch
$2/4 Texas Hold'em

Ryan took me out and payed for my $50 buy-in at Green Valley Ranch. It was my third time to play live in a Casino and I had my best results. I came out EVEN! Not bad, playing around a bunch of experienced old people.

I started off playing very tight, only using the top 10-15 starting hands to begin with. That way I didn't loose ustarting hand A,Q I misplayed them after the turn. Flopped A,Q,7 all hearts, and I didnt have a single heart. I got flushed out at the end. I wasn't even looking at suites. One thing I realized was that flushes were winning big pots at that table. I won 3 big pots by playing high, mid, and low suited cards after flopping 2 cards of the same suite.

I started categorizing players and characterized their player styles so I can read them better. There were rocks, jackals, lions, elephants, and mice. It was intriguing to see how many different styles could play. Ryan is a Jackal trying to look like a Lion. He starts of strong but starts to flake out at the end.

I played very tight to start then I loosened up later to win some pots. I picked up on peoples tells and betting pattern so I can use them next time.

VERY OLD PEOPLE ARE HARD TO READ WHEN THEYRE SHAKING.

If I'm going to get good, I need to read Mike Carro's book on tells. Phil Helmuth's book on tells will be good after, and his book that I'm reading now really helped out tonight.

I came out even winning no money, but it wasn't mine to begin with. I got a lot of valuable information and experience, now I feel like I can play for REAL live.

January 27, 2009, 11AM: Played 1 hour, 20 minutes at PokerStars
Free-Roll No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (207th out of 5000 Players)

This is the farthest I've gone in a Freeroll. I need to learn when to fold in the middle game.

I was very aggressive to start and I was lucky to get good starting hands. I did a good job staying about average and watching the blinds as they go up.

I got beat by playing a Ah4h (weak kicker) against a short stacked player going all in and also vs the chip leader on the table. It was a mistake for me to go all-in when I didnt hit anything on the flop. I should've let the chip leader take him out. I wasn't paying attention to all the players in the hand.

January 21, 2009, 4PM: Played 2 hours, Made $301.00 at Limelight
$3 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

Big hand, A9, flop comes K99, bet $35, I raise to $100, he reluntantly calls. Two hearts, flop comes 8, he checks, I be another $100, he goes all in $50 more.  He shows 109, river comes Q.

On last hand, layed down pocket 99s, when board came 3, 4 6, rainbow.  Preflop, I bet $15, and one person (who had just lost about $350 in 30 minutes), raised to $30.  Flop comes, I check, player bets $50, raiser goes all in to $157.  I fold, player calls.  Raiser had AA, other had 88.  Of course, turn comes 9 (argh!!), and river goes 8.  AA gets cracked again.  Even though I would have won, that was a good, solid lay down, though not exactly difficult to do.

January 21, 2009, 7PM: Played 18 minutes, Broke Even at Snookers
Free-Roll No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (72nd out of 90 Players)

No limit Charity event, $1,000 guranteed payout.

Quick night for me, didn't even feel like going but did since it was free.

Only two notable hands:

Had A/Ko and only called with the BB at 100 (should have raised).  Flop came A/10/J.  Two players went all in in front of me.  Joe Tire and Mr. Sun glasses.  Figured someone had two pair so I got out of the way.  Sun glasses showed 9/9 and Joe showed 10/J.  Turn came A and river came 10.  Based on the end result I should have called, plus the fact that it was a free roll.

Had A/Ko and only called with the BB 100, should have raised again.  Flop came A/10/7.  Joe had 10/9 and caught a 9 on the river and my night was over.  Thought about rebuying but decided against it because I wasn't feeling it and Joe was running over everyone.  Earlier he cracked A/A with A/2.  He raised to 300, A/A went all in and he called.  Caught a 2 on flop and 2 on river.

$3 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

played solid only bought in for 70 ran it up to almost 500 decided to cash out. This game is different it used to be a 2/3 game with no max on the buy in now it has been changed to a 200max buy in and plays way different so I am trying to figure out how to adjust to it. I have tried buying in max and buying in small. don't know yet.

Anyway just played solid, got lucky on one had flopped the nut straight on a rainbow board. One bettor One caller, I raise one guy calls other guy shoves all in, I insta call other guy folds and my hand holds up. The guy who shoved had one pair, and thought he had a flush draw lol.....

January 19, 2009, 8AM: Played 30 minutes, Made $146.00 at Limelight
$3 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

AA on first hand late position, raise to $11, 4 callers.  Flop comes KQ6 - two hearts, seat one goes $18 (reraising him for sure), then another player makes it $45.  I think about it for a bit and then simply call.  I was thinking of laying it down, had to see another card.  I thought I could be facing KQ, but apparently not.  Turn comes blank, two checks to me and I bet $75, both players fold.  Player one was on a K with mid kicker and reraiser was on flush draw, no doubt.

Won a couple hands, left on a good little uptick in only 30 minutes of play.
