$1/2 Texas Hold'em

Omg bad bad bad...

I didn't win 1 single hand....

After I was down 200 I added another 100 to my stack. Big mistake.

The last hand I made a terrible choice.  I had a lower end of a straight and the other 2 players both ended up having thre higher end. I lost about 185 on that hand.  Bummer. Maybe I was a bit off tilt.  I just gotta keep it in my head that its a possibility that other people have good cards.

Try again some other time and play a little tighter maybe.  Also play later, there weren't any donks at the table.

$1/2 Texas Hold'em

This game was crazy.  There were 2 AZNs there that were betting enormous pre-flop bets and continuation bets.  As long as you were the first to act, you could steal the hand from them.  With people like this you just need patience and tact.  They stuck to the same strategy the whole time and probably lost $1500 between the two of them.

After they left it was a calmer game.  One hand I did good at was the last one...  I had k10, flop came and i hit a pair of 10s.  there was a straight draw on the board but i read my opponent well enough to tell he didnt have it.

im playing fairly well lately.  i should try to practice more advanced moves though.  try to get better at continuation bets and experiment with a float play?

$1/2 Texas Hold'em

Tuesday nights before 9pm are really dead here. There were only 3 people drinking out of 40 or so. Tight players with good bluffing skills. I got my ass pwned because I'm used to playing donks.

I lost about 50 on 1 hand where I was chasing a flush with the correct odds but just missed. I had a baby flush draw but I got a good read on the opponents and my read was correct at the showdown between the other players after I folded. That one would have paid off big. I gotta think about the long run....

I gotta only pick fights I know I can win.

I had a feeling it was a dead game when I got there... I should have left sooner.

Did pretty good ... made some good calls.  I thought things through, knew my players, left when I started to get distracted, didn't get lucky, I just had a combo of ok cards and good decisions.

I almost folded my winning hand to a few big bets but I knew my players well enough to make the right choice.
Be careful chit chatting with people though because it distracts u and u can't see who bets what.

Talking poker and saying things that proves ur a local helps give u respect when it comes to bets. Just don't abuse it.

September 19, 2009, 9PM: Played 1 hour at mandalay bay
$1/2 Texas Hold'em

played pretty good. i got a mix of good cards and a mix of bad cards.  in the beginning there was a full table and people were drinking so i was doing pretty good.  studying my players, recognizing peoples betting patterns, etc.  after a while though i started to get a little distracted and found myself asking questions like "who raised preflop?".  at that point i should have taken a break or left.  if i would have left then, i would have been up $110.  but instead i stuck around and lost a few bucks here and there slowly.  the table shrunk, only 5 players and nobody really had money.  i should have left there, it would have saved me $60.

TAKE BREAKS SO YOU DONT GET DISTRACTED
LEAVE WHEN THE TABLE SHRINKS

$1/2 Texas Hold'em

i would be a millionaire if i had better cards at this game here tonight.  these players SUCKED.  would call an $85 bet with A high and no draws.  I slowly lost money because i didnt get ANY hands.  these players were callign stations so i couldnt bluff them.  i should have left a litle earlier because they started noticing me playing tight after about 2 hours. the only good player there was seeing nit too.  we were making faces at each other across the table at how bad the others played.
mandalay donks tend to leave at about midnight so try getting there a bit earlier

dont be afraid to leave sooner! need to leave sooner when the other players notice my strategy.

try switching tables.

$1/2 Texas Hold'em

a few of the people from last night were here.  one guy that played super tight yesterday was playing very loose here tonight because he was just in a different mood.  i lost a few bucks trying to scare him away like i did last night successfully, it just didnt work this time because he was in a different mood.  it was a quiet table when i got there, not much action. i should have left after 5 minutes.

need to understand that peoples moods shift at times and sometimes they can be very different players.

August 16, 2009, 3PM: Played 1 hour at bills
$40 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (8th out of 10 Players)

I was definately seen at the table as a very agressive player.  I played the first hand very strong.  I was also talking about poker and asking people where they've played before, etc... trying to show that i was a local and i played a lot.

i was doing ok but i should have gotten to know my players a little bit.  i had an over pair, bet big to try to end the hand but got called by a calling station who had nothing at the time of my bet but ended up getting a runner runner flush.  UGH

After that huge mistake i only had about $200 (10% of buyin). but i got back up to about $1100. then i went in with my best hand before the blinds hit me (AQ) and i lost.

I probably would have gotten 1st or 2nd if i didnt make that big mistake in the beginning.  everyone there sucked.

$45 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament

I did ok.  Lost a big one in the beginning because I didn't pay attention to peoples betting patterns close enough.  Then I smartened up a bit and attacked the right people.

After the break I moved tables and decided to play agressive since I was with new people and they didnt know me.  they gave me mega-respect in the beginning but i carried it out too long and got knocked out.  i need to practice mixing up my play sooner before people catch on.

for the most part i think i made wise decisions, i just need to mix up my play sooner.

September 20, 2009, 12PM: Played 5 hours at Planet Hollywood
$2 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

Finally a winning session.  Was up almost a buyin after playing well for a couple hours then had a couple rough hands... ended up with it all in with overpair QQ to a board with a flush draw.  the guy calls and turns out he was open ended and was on a flush draw, he hit his straight on the river.  I bought in again short and ended up switching to a weaker table and built it back up with well timed aggression. i was happy that i was very careful some hands that could have damaged me real bad today.
