February 22, 2010, 5PM: Played 1 hour, 56 minutes, Made $1.97 at full tilt rush
$0.25 Pot-Limit Omaha

had a nice 50 buck win going but got into a pot with AAxx on the J 6 3 flop and a guy with 5678 couldn't lay down for 12 on the flop and 20 something on the turn (which was a 2) and he found the 8 to win a 91 buck pot from me.  I don't know what to say about how I run in these big pots, one time it will go my way.  For the last couple weeks my goal has been to get to 65000 full tilt points to get an ipod and I am finally over 60000, so basically just hoping I can last long enough to get that off the site before I finally tap out.

February 19, 2010, 10PM: Played 4 hours, Made $275.00 at Full Tilt
$1 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

Made back some of the money I lost at 200NL

The best hand was one where I hit quads vs a set.  This may be the largest pot I've every won at 100NL before. Interestingly, I think I left $170 on the table, as it was fairly clear what hand he held, and I am pretty sure he would have called an overshove on the river.  I am surprised he never raised.

The 6 likely cost me a lot of money, as me holding any Q beat him.  So, he was probably less confident about the hand once the river came.

February 22, 2010, 12AM: Played 45 minutes, Made $30.00 at Full Tilt
$1 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

45 minutes, 450 hands, 45 dollars.

Most interesting hand was one where I got AIPF for $100 w/ QQ from the small blind vs the big blind.

I raised to $3, he 3bet me to $10, I 4bet to $30 and he 5bet shoved for $100.  Having recently done some analysis of AIPF pots in steal wars (specifically for 100NL Rush), I had already decided not to fold queens in steal situations without a read that the villain is especially nitty.

He ended up with TT and fortunately my queens held up.

Sadly, 450 hands equates to $75 in posted blinds, so there wasn't much overall profit to be had this session.

February 21, 2010, 10PM: Played 2 hours, 30 minutes, Made $250.00 at Full Tilt
$1 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

Fortunately, I didn't lose more than $55 on any single hand.

The most interesting hand was one where I got stubborn (read: played badly).  It was his stack size that made me think he was capable of making a play at me.  With 420 BB, He is most likely either a lucky maniac or a good regular, either one capable of 3betting light.

On the flop, I decided to float him for a street, and try to rep an overpair or some spades if they came.  If he checks the turn, I plan to fire and hopefully take the hand away from him.

When the K comes on the turn I figure he hit his hand. So, I am actually surprised to see him check behind.  Once he does, I go ahead w/ the plan of repping AK and fire away.  It is probably a bad idea to risk getting check-raised after picking up additional equity from the flush draw, but since I miss more often than I hit and he likely fires any river if check, this seems like my best chance.

A check-raise would suck, as I probably priced myself in for the call.  But, fortunately, that didn't happen.

February 20, 2010, 10PM: Played 8 hours, Lost $1,000.00 at Full Tilt
$2 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

I've been playing a lot of 100NL Rush on FTP, and thought I would give 200NL a shot.  Bad Idea.  I dropped about 5 buy-ins w/in 2 days, mostly due to some bad luck.  I am ~$600 below ev, but dropped another $200 w/ KK vs AA and AIPF.

So, back to 100NL for now.  Fortunately, I've made back a little over $800 in the last few days there, so it's not all bad.

Here are two bad hands.  The first, I lost when the villain rivered a flush vs my boat.  In the second, I folded the nut flush on the river; A play that I still am not sure was best.

February 20, 2010, 1PM: Played 3 hours, Made $240.00 at Lucky Chances
$2 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

Played live for the first time this year.  Didn't do too badly, winning a little over one buy-in.

The biggest pot I won was probably one I lucked out on.  I had TT on the button with three limpers ($4 to limp) in front of me.  I chickened out of raising, since I wasn't confident in narrowing the field.  However, the SB raises to $24.  One person calls before it gets to me (the biggest fish, who has lot about $600 so far), so I throw in another $20.  Effective stacks are about $150, which isn't really enough to set mine, but with the additional fish in the pot, and the button, I figured I would make a loose call and see what happened.

We go to the flop with roughly $80 in the pot.  Flop comes 653 and the SB bets out $40.  The fish folds and I go into the tank.

I am up about $100 so far, but don't want to lose it all with a mediocre pair have that I can't lay down.  I finally decide that there are enough pocket pairs between 6 and ten, as well as unpaired broadway cards in his range that I was at least calling.

The pot is around $120 and it looks like he has $60 left.  So, after coming very close to just folding, I finally throw in $100 and put him all in, expecting a fold most of the time.  It actually turns out that he has an additional $20 chip I missed, which he also tosses into the pot.  I wasn't really expecting that, but I can't fold for another $20, so I call.

(Putting him on a range of 77+, AQ+, KQ gives me about 55% equity on the flop.  Assuming he calls with all pocket pairs, and folds everything else, I have ~65% fold equity and ~40% equity when called.  With $80 in the pot preflop and $240 being added, that's about 38% pot odds.  So, even if his entire range is medium and large pocket pairs, it seems like a reasonable play.)

Turns brings an A, which I figure kills my hand.  River is another 5.  He looks at me, saying I probably won.  I turn over my TT and he mucks. I should have waited for him to show first, just to see what he plays this way with, but I guess that's bad etiquette live.

Live is a lot different than what I am used to online.  A lot more limping and people playing dominated hands, even for raises.  I am sure it has to do with being the lowest stakes available, and I guess it plays more like .05/.10 NL online than 1/2.

$2 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

AKo utg. Raise to 10, 3 players to my left goes all in for 150. Folded to me. After much consideration and agonizing I fold. Says he had aces.

Btn with AKs. 2 limpers, I raise to 10. Sb raises to 24, I shove he insta calls with 10s. Flop K84 all diamonds. He has 10 diamonds. Turn; A diamonds, river A.

Got a lot of hands ya wanna see a flop with, but either I never connected, or hit in a small way and get bet out of the pot. I lost a bunch $10-$15 at a time.

78o in mp. 4 limpers, so I limp, 8 ppl see flop. Flop; 865 2 diamonds, checked to my right, he bets out 15, guy to my left calls out of turn, so I call, everyone else folds. Turn; K, checked around, river A diamonds, checked around again, I show and win the pot. My right shows Q5,my left says he had 82

A3s utg. I limp, everyone limps, btn raises to 7, everyone calls. Family pot. Flop AK3 rainbow, checked around to button who makes it 40. BB calls, I think for a bit, shove to 91. Btn loosly calls(he's steaming about earlier hand), bb folds(for first time in last 3 hours. I think he likes me and doesn't want to bust me). Turn and river are blanks, he calls out K, I say no good and he mucks.

JJ utg+1, utg limps(as he often does) I raise to 12, get 5 callers including CO(btn from last hand) and utg. Flop 632 2 diamonds. I bet out 45, and take it down.

Only down 50, mighta been up more if I wanted to play longer, but I think I need a poker break...maybe a week or more will do the trick. Something to break my recent funk.

$8 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (8th out of 8 Players)

BPC Sniper Tournament

Wow, well, another terrible poker night for me. BPC Season 2 has been ridiculously horrendous for me...didn't get ANYTHING for a hand. Got a low pocket-pair one hand (folded after flop), and after the re-buy time, got an ACE/9 that i went all in with, and i just won the blinds. That was the ONLY hand i won.

Just have to try to remember to play with-in my rules, and i think i will be ok.
Looks like i will have to win a tourney, however, to make the BPC TOC. My time will come again...hopefully soon.

February 16, 2010, 3PM: Played 1 hour, Made $7.00 at PokerStars.com
$1.10 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (3rd out of 40 Players)

I really wanted to get 1st, even more than usual because the winner also gets to take part in a $40000. prize. Not sure of the exact details, (haven't won yet), Still the pay out is a little better than normal. I should have won this easily, even though opponents were applying pressure from all directions (common when chip leader). The killing hand was an A/J off on SB final table, late position raises to 1000 I call flop comes AQx, I can't remember if i checked or bet, still opponent pushes remaining chips in pot over 3000, no draws possible unless he had K/J or K/10 which is less scary than an open ender. Immediately i thought he might have Q/Q but called in a mili-second, and saw his big slick. So the King kicker cost me 1/3 of my chips and put me in 6th place instead of strong 1st. This was only 1 of 2 SB i was able to play because of the pre-flop raisers and small stacks pushing all in. So when I was way ahead and saw the A/J I pretty much was willing to call anybody any amount. The last hand I was beaten by a high-card 10. On BB with 2 blinds left and 3 people. Knowing that I would call any raise with any mediocre hand which was 7/8 suited he had 10/7 off community cards held 3 Kings and 2 dead cards. he won with 3 Kings 10 kicker vs 8 kicker and so it goes. These sng's are promos offered for a limited time only. Instead of the 1.20 45 player SNG (7 pay-outs) this is 1.10 40 player (6 pays) amd one bonus. This was the 3rd so far the other I ended on the bubble and 16 place, so I'm still wanting to go for that 1st place finish. I will play another tonight or tomorrow.
