David Singer's Bust Out

watched an interview with david singer after he got busted in the main event...

apparently he was all in for a decent amount and his opponent was on a decision when the opponent's cell phone rang

so, opponent pulls out his cell phone... opens it, checks the screen, puts it away

they announced before the event that hands were dead upon usage of a phone and shit like that apparently, and it seems to be the way things generally go at most card rooms

so, he says to the dealer "his hand's dead right? hands over?" because he assumes it's the well known rule a statement like that is an obvious tell since he's worried he's beat

dealer says he doesnt know and needs to see a pit boss... happened to be top ranking pit boss... who declared the hand still live

bam, call... singer busts

man's understandably pissed... i agree... if the rule is made that clearly, and a pit boss pussies out and lets the hand stay live...

obviously it's singers fault for jumping the gun... but, i mean, seems like a short stop asking if the infield fly rule applied to the umpire after a bases loaded pop up

pretty weak that guy drops 10g to play in the biggest tournament of the year and he busts out in a way like that

does anyone have...

...any good sites for keeping track with the WSOP.  I log onto cardplayer fairly frequently and it's all right, but I wish they had a little better way of updating stacks and such, I know it's hard with 1700 people or whatever each day for the main event, but hey, they are the ones claiming to be the poker authority.

anyone else ponying up the 20 bucks to get the final table live on ppv? I did it last year with about a half dozen buddies and a couple cases of beer and I am fairly certain it was the best day I had in 2006 outside of my daughter being born and the day the Steelers won the super bowl, oh yeah, and the day I was at the AFC title game in Denver, fuck that was a good time, shit, I was at a hockey game day before that, man I take this rambing stuff literally at 8 am after working all night.

Las Vegas

I'm taking my sister to Vegas the third week of June for her big 21st B-Day. Aside from playing cards, does anyone have any suggestions that would help make her B-Day a special occasion??? She likes to drink, party, dance, etc. and is open to anything.

Thanks for your help.

June 10, 2007, 12PM: Played 15 minutes, Lost $55.00 at Full-Tilt
$55 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (1,160th out of 1290 Players)

Two hands into the tournament I'm dealt pocket As. I bet accordingly only to have a player hit their set of 10s on the turn. I'm crippled after this hand; whereas, I'm given a suited Q9 in the SB with 1/3 of my chips already in the pot (i.e., my blind) and I shove. I have two callers. The flop comes Q37 of spades and the player in seat 3 shoves all-in and I know that I'm beat. Seat 5 folds and I'm out as the turn gives me the set and the river is a rag but he beats me with the higher kicker. Bye-bye NateDawg!

July 6, 2007, 2AM: Played 2 hours, 18 minutes, Made $243.04 at Poker Stars
$5.50 Buy-In Pot-Limit Omaha Tournament (4th out of 215 Players)

Well, rebuy and add-on tourney.

Started off very slow and took two rebuys, then wholly shit.. I could not miss.

By the break I had a 50K stack, average was 9k.

Didn't make any progress at all, by 30 players I was average chips.

Grinding to final table.

When at final everyone was very cautious, including myself.

I made a mistake trying to attack the chip leader.  He was a calling station, called pot raise pre with K974 etc.

I then tried to bluff the calling station with a gutshot and flush draw, he called down with the dumb end of the straigh when the board was AJT82, and he had 79, that destroyed my stack.

Then in BB the SB limps with KT84 and I move all in with big cards, he improves on river and I'm out.  I could have check, then bet all in on the flop and there is no way he could have called.

All in all I am happy with my results, little mistake at the wrong time cost me.
