May 6, 2008, 3PM: Played 3 hours, Made $770.00 at Ceaser's Palace
$55 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (1st out of 42 Players)

Yay!! Finally a tourny win! I've been feeling like I could do this for a while, just needed to put the right combination of skills together.  And unlike my 4th place finish last week I don't feel like this was a lucky break.  I played solid.  Used my new strategy, played more hands and used my experience at post-flop play to outplay my opponents and keep the pots small while I was drawing, and get full value when I had the hand.

I do still feel like my middle tourny strategy needs tuning up still.  I did a great job of b8uilding up a big stack like i have in the past, but once the blinds got bigger I played to many hands.  I let go of to many chips that I didn't need to give away.  By the time we got to the final table I went from 3x the average stack to only about 10 big blinds.  If I can tighten up and only pick on stacks that are REALLY small, not just medium to small I can risk less and go deeper with more chips.  I'm giving away the chips when they are the most precious.

When I got the the final table I had a couple lucky situations.  first I picked up a decent pot with an all in.  Then with decent cards I raised up when i knew the big blind was going to have to shove in no matter what.  That allowed me to actually have some chips to play with.  I used the to pick up the blinds a couple times and snap of desperate small stacks.  When we got 3 handed I was sitting on a huge stack, 75-80% of the chips in play.  The other players agreed to chop 2nd and 3rd among them selves and forfit 1st to me.  I'll take it!

$75 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (366th out of 377 Players)

Frustating...

TT UTG limp.. 3 callers and BB raises pre with A8s

We all call to see flop of 975 and he fires.. I just call to see where everyone is at.. we are head up and I turn a Ten for top set.. he fires again and I raise pretty much all in.. he calls with an openender and hits it...
nothing new

May 2, 2008, 11PM: Played 50 minutes, Lost $5.50 at Full Tilt Poker
$5.50 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (60th out of 226 Players)

Played really well in this one...my bustout hand I had AJs UTG and decided to raise 3X even though there were no antes yet, however I had a tight image...it folds to a big stack who limped UTG then min-raised me 5 hands earlier, min-raised me again...although out of position I elected to call...had I been holding AJo I definitely would have insta-folded, but my suited AJ flops well...flop comes 864 with two diamonds and I have the AJ diamonds...I say to myself "well it's time to gamble for the big stack." I check, he bets 2400 into a 2500 pot and I have 5600 behind and I go for the gamble and don't hit...Oh well...not too upset...

May 4, 2008, 12PM: Played 1 hour, 15 minutes, Made $54.50 at OPL INVITATIONAL
$5 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (1st out of 11 Players)

The new champ.....lol.

It was a lot of fun playing against all the OPL people, and some good poker friends.  I was a few hands late, computer problems.

Just sat back and relaxed till I got in a heads up situation with pocket 7s.  I flopped a set after making the standard raise and slow played.  Luckily, the turn paired the board and hit my opp. middle pair to give him trips.  So, doubled up there.

Later on, DeDobber was getting a bit too agro with his AX, and I caught him when I had AQ.

Then......the best hand of the day! Jesse is short stacked, bout 2400 I guess, I have almost 8k.  I limp with my favorite hand, and he shoves except for one chip.  I flop an open ender against his AA, and spike it on the turn.  Sweet victory! I am sure Jesse would have chosen any other situation but that to lose to me.  But, had to get that ten dollar bounty.

Got heads up and battled for a little while, where I finally crippled her with 78 suited, flopping a pair and flush draw.  She turned the straight, and I turned the flush.

And the rest as they say is history.  Lots of fun, can't wait to play it again, win or lose.

Thanks for the good times y'all!
