WSOP Fantasy Bet

My friend and I picked teams again this year.  Sorry to OPL for not posting/making this available for everyone.  It was semi-last minute, and, basically, I forgot.  Scoring (same as last time):

Cash 100
Final Table 300
3rd 500
2nd 700
1st 1,000

If the event is a 5k we multiply the points by 1.5.
If it's 10k we multiply by 2.
The 50k Player's Championship (8-game mix) and the 25k NL 6-Max will be multiplied by 3.
Women's, Seniors, and TOC events are not included.

Me----------------------Ryan

Daniel Negreanu---------Phil Ivey
Barry Greenstein--------Gus Hansen
Phil Hellmuth-----------JC Tran
Jason Mercier-----------Erick Lindgren
Jeffrey Lisandro--------Scott Clements
Mike Matusow------------Allen Cunningham
Chris Ferguson----------Isaac Baron
Gavin Griffin-----------Steve Gross
Daniel Alaei------------Ted Forrest
Annette Obrestad--------Antonio Esfandiari

Overall, I like my team.  I think it is really important to get players that can play all the games as they will have a much better chance of final tabling a 300 person Stud8 tourney than a 4k person NLH tourney.  I think Mercier at #4 was a stretch for me.  Also, not sure how much Ferguson, Griffin and Alaei are going to be playing.  I wish I could take Bonomo and Binger in place of two of my later picks in hindsight.  For Ryan, I think Gus at #2 was really reaching.  I also wonder how much AC, Forrest, and Antonio will play.

I destroyed Ryan in this bet two years ago, but we didn't do it last year.  I think the teams are a little more even this year.  I do think I have a slight edge however.

May 27, 2010, 7PM: Played 1 hour, Lost $31.00 at PokerStars
$10 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (36th out of 52 Players)

ANZPT Canberra sat. $11 rebuy round 1. unbelievable how bad i can run. the very 1st hand after the rebuy period i get AQo in the cutoff. utg limps for 250, another guy limps. i decide to just shove, knowing i probably wont get called. nope. the utg limpers calls 5900 chips and 90% of his stack with ATo. he limped utg with AT and then called off his whole tourney. he has 3 outs. the turn is a Ten and i'm busted. how fucking ridiculous is this? what a retarded idiot. and i bet he'll go on and win the damn thing.

May 23, 2010, 1AM: Played 2 hours, Made $0.51 at PokerStars
$0.50 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (165th out of 1848 Players)

Things are turning around slightly.  I think I am also playing a little better.  I think I am doing a much better job in shove/fold spots and getting a little more aggressive in general.  This has allowed me to stay at or above about 15bb's for more of each tournament.  It is a little frustrating to not have enough money on the sites to play a little bit higher though.

March 17, 2010, 12PM: Played 6 hours, Made $1,064.00 at Doyles Room
$26 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (4th out of 600 Players)

I showed up to the final table as the chip leader in the tourney with about 500K in chips.

By the time there were 3 people left I had 350k left and so did 1 other person at the table. The other 2 stacks each had about 200K left.

The other big stack had been consistently position raising to about 36k pre flop. When i picked up AQ I shoved against this raise feeling confident that I would not get called and also hoping to deter any future position raises from this person.

Instead I was snap called by QQ and my A did not hit and I was toast

Clearly I should not have shoved with AQ, however, the chances of the person getting a hand good enough to call their entire #2 stack at a four handed table are very slim and 85% of the time I feel I would have gotten 1st or 2nd in this tourney

May 17, 2010, 7AM: Played 7 hours, 18 minutes, Made $754.46 at PokerStars
$100 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (206th out of 19188 Players)

SCOOP main event low. at 1st break:17014 people left, 14080 stack, 1st on table. won a decent sized hand from bb with AQo by letting a flush draw bluff. no crazies so far. being patient. dont give away any chips.

2nd break. 23912, 2nd on table. called a raise from sb with 77. flop 47Q. i checkraise. turn is Q. i bet, he shoves with TT. he goes home. so far i've flopped 3 sets. hope it dont blow my load too early. also had to lay down KK on stupid board of AQ9T8. is there any hand i can beat here besides a total bluff? aslo got moved to new table with alot more chips. 13336 left

3rd break. 26682, 3rd on table. did well picking spots to steal and winning pots on continuation bets. lots of action around me, just couldnt pick up that monster hand to take advantage. 8981 players left.

4th break. 17406, 8th on the table. everything that could go wrong went wrong. never had a real hand to play, and everytime i put a chip in, i got reraised and had to fold, culminating in this: raised from lp with J9h and bb defends. flop 7h9cJs. he check-calls. turn 8h. only a ten makes a straight but i have strtflushdraw as well as top 2pair. he checks, i put him allin (almost pot size bet), he snaps with 9Td. i lose. that put me down below 10k, which is what we started with, lol. only hand i won this hour, i doubled with QQ vs A6o. at this point i just wanna make to the money. 5407 left, 3150 paid.

5th break, 52416, 3rd at table. good hour. doubled when i won a race AKd vs JJ, then took down various small pots to chip up nicely. theres about 3400 left, so something very very bad will have to happen for me to not cash.

6th break, 61,118, 4th at the table. finally in the money, did alot of restealing this round as we had a monster stack who was a maniac and raised nearly every hand. so a couple of times i reraised with nothing and he folded. as soon as i start to get some hands, its on baby. about 2000 people left.

7th break, 108 571, last at the table. i increased my stack by 2/3 and went from 4th to last? weird. but it was one of those times where every pot was either folded preflop or 2 or more people were allin for a monster. and sadly i was left out. but i'm in good shape and playing well, so its no sweat. also, we're down to 1150 players.

8th break. 326 172, 4th at the table

i fell backwards out of my chair when that ten hit. crazy. built it up to nearly 500k, then got moved twice and gave back a bunch on an illconceived bluff. still in great shape though. 584 players left.

9th break. 327 856, 7th at table. boring hour. went totally card dead. this table is so active, so much 3betting prelfop, i couldnt find any spots to just pick up the blinds. but i did get queens once and shoved behind a raiser. then the bb woke up with AK and called, but i won the race. only hand i won this hour i think. well below average of 600k. only 300 people left though. anything can happen.

out before 10th hour. damn. had some hands, but because i was short, my only option was to shove, and i never got called to double up. last hand shoved 320k from 3rd position, blinds at 15/30k. sb woke up with kings. turned a straight and flush draw. brick

Play Money Legend

Ay ay ay.  So I took today off because I had several things to do for Mother's Day.  But, while watching basketball for a little bit (Wow Rondo 28pts, 18rbds, 13 assts or something like that)I fired up a couple play money tournaments for fun.  One was a 2k 90 person SNG.  Won that.  Another was a 2.5k 367 person MTT and won that.  And now tonight I played a 1,155 person 250 play chip 6-Max tourney.  Just finished winning that.  3/3 today.  Wish I could post these results in the real money side.  Either way it was finally fun playing poker with it not meaning anything.

April 28, 2010, 4PM: Lost $1.10 at Full Tilt
$1 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (310th out of 587 Players)

ughh.  picked up several big hands early and got to 5500 in the first 30 mins.  I pick up QxQc in the BB.  MP who is the only person at the table with more than me raises to 150...CO calls.  I raise outta BB to 625.  Both call.  Flop is J84 all clubs.  I really don't know what to do here.  There is about 1900 in the pot.  I have about 4600 left which is a ton of chips.  I don't know if Bet/calling, check/raising, or bet/folding is best.  I really just don't know.  I checked for no particular reason.  The guy with more than me shipped (waaay over ship) and I decided to call.  He had a set so I still had the flush draw and missed for the chip lead of the whole tourney.  Have no idea what to think about the hand.
