Texas Hold'em

Played some super micro-stakes...it's .01/.02 and you must play ridiculously tight...

March 9, 2008, 1AM: Played 2 hours, 45 minutes, Made $113.10 at Full Tilt Poker
$5.50 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (4th out of 232 Players)

Played very well in this one. I started off really slow, not really getting much going. I don't even know how I stayed alive in the beginning of this tournament. I think I won a big pot all-in against two players. From then on out, I steadily increased my stack through selective aggressive play.

I had my stack at about 21 BBs when this over-aggressive player came to the table with about 30 BBs. I won a few pots of the maniac and had a good feel for how he was playing. He was trying to run over the table and I finally made a stand in this hand:

I knew the maniac was going to try and re-steal on me because I was playing fairly aggressive myself, being that it was 6-handed. We both had close to 21-24 BBs, so when he re-raised me, my only options were either folding or pushing all-in and I felt it was a good spot for a 4-bet. Luckily, it worked out for me.

And I think the guy went on tilt after I 4-bet him. About 15-20 hands later, I did the same exact play, except this time with AKs. I raised 2.5X, he re-raised, and I shoved. Of course he insta-called with his A10 and I won the big pot. That's the beauty of playing aggressively. Your big hands get paid off a LOT more!

Near the end of the tourney, I ran into a few tricky situations. I feel like I played all my situations on the final table correctly except for one medium-sized pot. This tourney just wasn't mine to win, but I'm certainly happy to have placed 4th.

March 5, 2008, 4PM: Played 45 minutes, Made $19.20 at Full Tilt Poker
$0.10 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

Even though near the beginning of the session I lost a $22.00 pot with KK on a flop of 236...of course we both get our money in on the flop and the other person has 66...I didn't go on tilt and played really well the rest of the session. Here is one of my pretty sick hands. We were three-handed and I had re-raised this guy a lot of times with solid three-handed hands. I knew that he was starting to get irritated.

I think it's funny because he tried to stone cold bluff me. I called with the 10 because I felt that if he had a Q, he probably would have let the aggressive me do all the betting. Also, if he had a set of 8s I'm fairly sure he would slowplay.

March 3, 2008, 6PM: Played 1 hour, 55 minutes, Made $25.75 at Full Tilt Poker
$3.30 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (4th out of 90 Players)

Knocked out two guys in this one plus the 4th place money.

Happy with this one because at one point I was sitting with 5000 and the blinds at 1000/2000 with 10 left and I picked my spots really well after getting lucky a couple times to double up.

Then when we were 4-handed, I had A8s in the SB (a great hand 4-handed). Idiot UTG who limps EVERY pot limped in, button folded, and I decided to push it all in with 38,000 and the blinds at 2,000/4,000 plus antes....of course he wakes up with AJ....

March 3, 2008, 6PM: Played 1 hour, 50 minutes, Made $20.00 at Full Tilt Poker
$3.30 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (5th out of 90 Players)

Knocked out 4 guys in this one for .50 each plus the 5th place prize money.

Lost a huge coinflip with AQ against 1010 that would have given me a huge chiplead....after the big loss I ended up grinded it all the way to 5th place with an above average stack. Then I raise button 5-handed with KK. BB calls and flop comes 334. He bets small into me, I re-raise 3X his bet...he pushes and I snap call...he has Q3...so sick...
