$3 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

Yahoo!! Broke the streak! I wanted to just go and play for a little while, break the losing streak and bounce.  That's sort of what I did.  I went into my sort of spiral drain like feeling of "oh shit, i'm losing, i can't afford to lose, i'm making mistakes, i'm going to lose what's in front of me, maybe more... etc" and got worried.  That's how I've felt the last few times I played.

I started talking to a nice guy next to me and kind of got caught up in conversation, and didn't have the thought energy to stress about my play, or worry about my money.  When I stopped trying to do what I'm told in books, I stopped trying to play ... all i can think of is how i'm told in books.  F the books.  I just relaxed and started playing my game again.  I was in for 2 $200 buy ins, and after doubling up my second i was down to about $250 again.  I relaxed, played my game, and won some dough, then left when I promised myself I would, even though I felt like I had a great grasp on the table.  I'm happy.

December 29, 2007, 12AM: Played 7 hours, Lost $600.00 at Deuces Wild
$3 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

I have no idea what's going on.  well I have some idea.  every time I try to read a book it screws with my game.  I've been reading harrington's book on tournaments, and had that in the back of my mind, as well as Joe Nevarro's book on tells.  So I've been concentrating on trying to do what I'm told according to those books.  It just doesn't seem to fit my style.

I have a feeling I've been playing on scared money, so that's probably part of it, I haven't been nearly as agressive as I naturally should be, as aggressive as I used to be.  I need to buck up and be fearless, shove my chips in the pot without worrying.

I also believe I have been running kinda bad lately, people sucking out on me, coolers, just long time before looking at playable hands.

Next time I play I'll make sure I'm ready to shove all my money in on a bluff and lose it in 20 minutes.  If I'm OK with that I should play just fine.

December 26, 2007, 10PM: Played 6 hours, Lost $370.00 at Deuces Wild
$3 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

I think I played fine.  Started of really cold, just couldn't get shit.  Then once I heated up I started making money back.  Guy caught a 2 outer on me for a a $600 pot that would have made the difference between the night being a winning session and a losing session.  I got coolered, it happens.  I played about another hour until the game broke and diddn't gain or lose any ground with my remaining chips.

December 16, 2007, 5PM: Played 3 hours, Lost $220.00 at Lucky Derby
$5 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

This is a $300 max buy in game now.  Bought in for the max and doubled up early w/ a lucky flop on the blind, against a guy with over $1g the whole game.  He was playing a lot of hands, betting a lot, and winning most pots by showing down the winner.  I picked up 99 from the small blind and over riased($30), got lots of callers.  Flop was 345 and I overbet($120) the pot.  He was the only caller.  At this point I put him on a pocket pair under my 9's, meaning he had a set or a draw.  The turn was a 7, and I figured the pot was big enough, so I checked.  he bet $50 and I went into the tank.  I should have layed the hand down right here.  Any underpair he has either hit a set or a stright, other than 8's, and he was way under betting for the size of the pot, and the size of his normal bets, he really wanted me to call.  Even though I put him on an underpair i called anyways, a bad call because I didn't want to give up on a big pot for a small bet.  The river brought an A, a card that could have hit him if he was bluffing with air.  he bet $100 and I called again.  He showed 6 8 off suit for the nuts and took it down.  I could hardly believe he called me with that as the second caller preflop, but my read was in the right neighborhood, and I should have saved myself $150.

Against the same guy I made another bad call.  I had Q 4 on the button, limped in.  Flop was QJ9.  Check to me and I bet about the size of the pot, same guy is the only caller.  Turn brings my 4, and I bet again.  he moves in almst instantly, and I call almost instantly.  If I had thought about it I should have put him on a better 2 pair or the K 10 he turned over.  As it was I was just really excited that I hit a had pretty strong and I was getting a lot of action from this guy.  I put him on a naked 10 or K on the flop, and didn't re-asses my read before shoving my last $220 in.  I should have thought it through and layed it down.

After all that I rebought $100 and doubled through the same guy w/ QQ, then got up and left.

December 12, 2007, 11PM: Played 4 hours, Lost $1,200.00 at Ceaser's Palace
$5 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

Oops!! Well I'm not sure if I was just that out classed as a player or just not catching shit.  I tend to believe I wasn't catching any cards to make a real hand.  Was chasing when I had pot odds and raising when I had the best of it, but I really just wasn't raking any pots.  Whenever I fired my opponents had just enough to call so I couldn't steal anything, and I couldn't catch to pick up a pot.  Either way, I'll build back up in the smaller games and give it another shot down the road.

$3 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

YahoO!! I think I found my game again! I'm not playing scared money, finally.  Again I chose not to bring out the iPOD and I think this helped.  I chatted a lot, and played more aggressively.  I think the combination of 1- being my natural chatty self without my iPOD, 2- not being on scared money, and 3- having just finished antonio esfandiari's book I feel like i'm playing better.  I went through in my head hand from the night to try and see where I could have played anything better, and there really weren't any situations I thought that to be true.  I'm happy, I'm winning, and I'm going to Vegas in a few days! :-D
