$500 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (88th out of 508 Players)

Ugh!!!!! I was really confidant going into this tourny.  This is a great structure for me, just like the one I cashed in at Harvey's in November.  I've been playing my recent tournment strategy of somewhat tight play.  I don't force hands to come, but wait patiently and try to stay at 20+ times the Big Blind.  This tends to help me go rather deep frequently, but I don't usually have a lot of chips when I get there and need them.  They style seems to rely on me getting at least 60% winning percentage when the blinds get tough and the competition gets desperate. Perhaps I need to push a bit more when it gets tough like this, but in my experience that leads me to go out on a bluff and leave pissed off, wondering how far I could've gone.

I was really sure I was going to cash n this event, I really couldn't believe it when I got busted outside the money.  In level 6 my AK went down to a short stack's AJ, and I was short on chips ever since.  I went to level 8, $400/$800 w/ $100 ante with $12,900 in chips.  Not bad, but not good, either.  I played the first 2 hands I was delt at this level, losing my raise the first and picking up the blinds and antes the second, so staying near even.  I then had to muck the next 20-30 hands in a row, not even getting a hand I could play with.  I was around 8,000 in chips when I picked up A 8 suited one off the button.  I barely had to think before I shoved all my chips in.  The button woke up with JJ and it was all over but the crying.

I'm not sure why I moved in instead of making a 3x raise of the BB, probably because I had mucked so many previous hands If I had made that raise and got re-raised I could've mucked.  I would've been really short stacked, but I could've seen a few more hands.

April 15, 2008, 7PM: Played 3 hours, Lost $150.00 at Ceaser's Palace
$120 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (13th out of 30 Players)

I played some more hands early, I was at a passive table.  When the blinds got bigger and people started playing more I didn't slow down like I needed to.  I knew I needed to.  I shoved in vs. smaller stacks w/ an underpair vs. overpair twice.  Then when I was short-ish stack I got all in w/ an over pair vs. and underpair and my opponent flopped QUADS on me.

April 13, 2008, 11PM: Played 2 hours, Lost $300.00 at Ceaser's Palace
$3 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

My cash game abilities are questionable at best.  WTF is going on? This was supposed to be my specialty.  I think it's a combination of I got used to losing, so I do, scared money, and playing to many hands, trying to make the hero play, trying to win every hand i go to a flop with.  Need to hit the reboot button on my cash game play.

April 13, 2008, 7PM: Played 4 hours, Lost $150.00 at Ceaser's Palace
$120 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (9th out of 43 Players)

It's amazing how good tournament strategy can take you deep! I didn't have any real good fortune this tourny.  I got plenty of premium starting hands, but none ended in showdowns & big pots.  All my big hands ended up with small pot wins.  The whole tourny was pretty tight, so I probably should have done more stealing, but I was happy with how I played.  I made an agressive All-in w/ 77 vs. an opponent with slightly less chips after he raised and I knew he was intending to make a move.  He called w/ KQ and I lost my coinflip.  I can't hate any of this.  If anything I'm really happy about how I played the whole thing.  I went deep and played great, just didn't get lucky when I needed to.

April 8, 2008, 4PM: Played 2 hours, Lost $400.00 at Ceaser's Palace
$3 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

I dunno about my cash game abilities anymore... can't seem to figure out what's going on.  I'm not afriad to put the money in, but it seems like I'm playing timid, on scared money.  None of my bluffs seem to work.  Perhaps I need to tighten up.

April 1, 2008, 7PM: Played 2 hours, 30 minutes, Made $238.00 at Ceaser's Palace
$3 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

I played to many hands at first.  Then I got a massage, relaxed, and tightened up.  had to make a rebuy, but I put on the headphones and got serious. Trippled up a few hands later and cashed out shortly after.

April 1, 2008, 3PM: Played 4 hours, Made $210.00 at Ceaser's Palace
$65 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (3rd out of 40 Players)

Played great.  Got all in w/ AK vs. AA and lost of course.  Last hand I bet twice vs. a weak hand and got called.  Then my opponent caught up and checked to me, I moved in on a bluff and got called by trips.  Oops.  Not happy about the 3rd place.  We were all about even in chips.  I could have won if I didn't make that bet.
