Call me superstitous...

Not sure that there's been any real level of concern over my lack of daily entries... I was playing a shit load in October and November, but started to run cold.

At first I started to blame it on blogging, kind of like having a shirt be unlucky... so, I did the SMART thing.  No, I didn't take a break, I just stopped blogging.

Kept playing, whittled my online account down a fair bit... so once December hit, I stopped playing online except for the random day to give myself a break and concentrate on finishing school.

Fellow player on here staked me a few times at live games, and that was the only way I was really getting money for rent and random out nights.

I finally got my bachelor's in Journalism in December and have been happily unemployed since.  I've been gradually picking up the online play more, but I'm reallllly encountering a lot of variance... both in my play and the cards.

Live I was running relatively well and getting paid off on semi-decent hands, so I kept getting staked... but the last three times I've sat down have ended pretty poorly... so, kind of on the look out for something part-time to fund the poker as well as kill time until I get a "real" job.

So... basically I stopped blogging because I blamed it for me running bad.  Smart, I know.

If you'll have me back, I'll eagerly run my post count up a ridiculous amount.

November 16, 2007, 7PM: Played 7 hours, Made $11.00 at Full Tilt
$5 Buy-In HORSE Tournament (2nd out of 69 Players)

i was down big yesterday... then went online when i was half loaded and lost some more until i got tracktion in two tournaments

one was horse, where i finished 2nd because i blew it heads up
one was a 45 sng where i also blew it heads up

the horse was the 2nd consecutive horse tourney i final tabled on... won the last one... disappointed because i know i was much better than the guy i was heads up with, i just got myself in some stupid limit hold'em situations

November 15, 2007, 12AM: Played 4 hours, Made $225.00 at Full Tilt
$5 Buy-In HORSE Tournament (1st out of 122 Players)

i'm going to incorporate the other small cashes i had tonight as well... played well, minimal bad beating...

but man did i fucking own in horse tonight... even after i was heads up with 160k against a guy at 11k who came back and took a chip lead after hitting 2 outers on all ins twice on me... one on the river

but he was an aggro retard... and i took him hard during omaha hi/lo... once calling his opening bet and bet the whole way down on a Q-10-Q-5-3 board... i had a pair of 10s, he had a pair of 9s in the hole

another i took a huge scoop with 2-3-J-10 when i hit broadway and nutlow... flush draw on the board but he only had two pair (wtf?)

put him back to crippled... we both had aces in the hole next hand but my low draw was significantly better... and it hit a flush

yay for stephen

November 6, 2007, 9PM: Played 5 hours, Made $10.00 at Full Tilt
$0.5/1 Omaha Hi-Lo

fucking variance... didn't cash on a single tourney or sng... despite going long, again, in razz only to lose, again, on 7th all in

but i made like 40-50 playing limit hi/lo

so yeah, i lost 40 on buy ins

November 6, 2007, 9AM: Played 3 hours, Lost $6.00 at Full Tilt
$0.5/1 Texas Hold'em

looks like a loss... but i consider it a triumph... had the worst variance all day

lost 3 from the money in a razz tourney with my 9 high going against 10 high that this girl cahcsed with from 4th... hit her 8 high

lost in a 10 dollar + knockout bounty... well, got crippled... when my AQ raised and called an all in from 10-9 off that hit a 9

final table of a 45 sng... in 4th of the last 6, but top 4 are all pretty tight... raise with aces, get called by the big stack who limped in first position

flop 10d-4d-4 he insta shoves, i call... he turns over J-5 diamonds... rivers his 5th diamond

only played a few multi sngs and tourneys... got crushed on the .50/1 tables... was down like 50+... got online late, played for an hour and went on a super rush for the first 30 minutes or so and got a huge chunk of it back

November 5, 2007, 8AM: Played 4 hours, 30 minutes, Made $56.00 at Kinloch
$1/2 Texas Hold'em

friend who posts on here staked me 120 so i only took back 28 of that 56... up and down most of the night, mostly down... he doubled me up with 9s vs. my Ks... half because he didn't mind

back up to 90... big stack is super aggressive and i think i have a read on him

one limper.. i look down at pocket 5s in the cutoff, so i bump it to 10... big stack in the bb calls, so does limper

flop comes out Jd-10d-3h

bb checks, so does limper

i bet just under the pot... $30... came into the hand with like 95... big stack thinks for a brief moment and pops it up to 90, enough to make the limper fold

i have my read and think i'm ahead based on tendencies... but on this board, it's a very marginal call with 5s... but i'm pretty certain i'm ahead... i look at my buddy and go

"i want to make this call but if i'm wrong i'm going to look real dumb"

he says "do whatever you think's right, i can handle the loss"

so i call with my last 45 or so... and i say "you have a J or a 10?"

he responds "two overs" and shows 7-6 off suit... i hold and pat myself on the back for the next thirty days or so

November 5, 2007, 8AM: Played 4 hours, Lost $70.00 at Full Tilt
$0.5/1 HORSE

ran HORRIBLE... especially in limit hold'em on the horse table... kept missing my draws, and people hitting theirs... happened on about 5 or 6 pots where i raised one, two or even three bet on preflop and would either miss super draws or have someone hit a draw... definition of horrible variance

same with my couple tournies i tried... lose with 9s to 10s, minimal things like that
