November 27, 2007, 4PM: Played 4 hours, Lost $1,000.00 at Harrah's New Orleans
$5 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

build up to about $1100 when i make terrible allin call with AA on a board of QJ4. i know he has QJ and i call anyway. it was just bad. i cant justify it. knew i was beat. got greedy with all that money out there. i dont feel like i'm playing badly though, so i rebuy another $500. i play very well and build it up to nearly $1200. i watch this one idiot push allin with 44 on a coordinated board with 4 overs. he gets called by an over pair. river is the 4 and he wins a huge pot. so lucky. about 10 hands later, i limp utg with AA. idiot raises to $30. folds to me. no more trickiness. he is an idiot and i recognize this, so i will bet the rest of the way, knowing he will call with a worse hand. i make it $90, he calls. flop 468 rainbow. i bet $180 into $187 pot. he instacalls. turn is 9. now i will show weakness and check to let him bet like i watched him do in the other hand. i am 100% certain i have the best hand. i check, he bets $300 into $547. i checkraise allin for $590 more. he takes his time to call. i flip over my aces and say "this is what you have to beat." he shows me TT. river is a 7 for his miracle gutshot. i lose a monster pot. that was shitty as hell.

November 27, 2007, 12PM: Played 3 hours, 20 minutes, Lost $550.00 at Harrah's New Orleans
$500 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (99th out of 224 Players)

most players would have gone broke on this hand: start with 2000 chips, a player that was next to me the day before and finished 14th was at my starting table again. we talked enought the previous play that we respected each others game. he knew i was tight and if i was betting that i had it. he never saw me bluff and all i showed down was AK, KK and QQ. he had raised my bb several times in the early going, and i let him have it everytime, even with hands that i probably could have called with. i knew that i was setting him up for a big bluff. he limps in early position, several players limp for 25 and i take a flop from the button with J8c. flop comes K97, one club. he leads into the field for 75, folds to me, i make a raise with my gutshot to 200. he calls. turn is Ac. now i can actually make a hand. he checks and i take my free card, not wanting to get in too deep. he could have a monster. when he checks the turn, i put him on a set. river is 7c. i hit my flush, which he could never put me on, but the board paired. he leads out for 600 in a 500 pot. i only call. he shows me AA for a boat!. not only did i pick a terrible spot to pull one off, but i actually made a hand and paid off his very deceptive play. later, as a very short stack, i shove from the hijack with Q9c for 550 with blinds at 50-100. button wakes up with QQ. flop is KJT. i get very lucky to double up! stole a couple pots here and there. with blinds at 100-200 and 25 ante, folds to me on button. i shove for 1775 with TT. bb woke up with AQs and i lose the race. bust.

$2 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

was smart to not sit down at cash right after busting out of the tourney. instead, i took my time, had a walk around downtown new orleans to review my play and compose myself for the upcoming session. had a decent run of cards, chose the right players to bluff.

November 26, 2007, 12PM: Played 4 hours, 30 minutes, Lost $340.00 at Harrah's New Orleans
$300 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (152nd out of 381 Players)

start with 1500 in chips and i win the first hand with AK to get to 1725. this is as high as i got. doubled a short stack with KK vs AA. he was so short right away cuz he was an idiot. why do the idiots always wake up with the nuts when i have a hand? later, i raise utg with QQ. the kid to my right calls instantly. another guy calls, but not worried about him, he called everything with anything. then the button makes a big raise. i decide not to shove and wait for a safe board before getting all my chips in. i call. the kid next to me moves allin. then the idiot moves in and then the button moves in. not too hard to fold QQ now, even though i put nearly half my stack in. its KK vs JJ vs AA for the button. the aces hold. so i hold on as a severely short stack for awhile. moved to a new table. utg limps, i shove with AJs. utg has aces. bust. i had no chance in this one. sometimes theres just nothing you can do.

November 22, 2007, 11PM: Played 3 hours, Broke Even at BJs
$2 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

this is a $300 loss. i was a kind of a wild ride for me. after last nights session, i came in determined to play tight and not give away anything. so i patiently wait for aces, flop a set and double vs bottom 2 pair. then i got crazy. jeff raised utg to $7. 8 players call. i look down at 57o in the bb. i try to steal and make it $55 more. 4 people call. great. flop comes 2AQ rainbow. i dont think anybody can call a big bet here, so i make it $200. it folds around to justin, and hes getting his call ready. then he asks if i want to chop it, and i of course say yes. not sure why offered it, cuz he knew that i was totally full of shit and that he had me crushed. he had AK. i build a monster pot for him and in return he offered me half i guess. sweet. so then i start foolin around again. a couple limpers on a $4 straddle, i make it $19 with 57h. 5 people call. flop comes TQK rainbow. everyone checks around. turn is an ace. a jack makes a straight. i dont think anyone has one. the players in the hand would have bet their openender if they had one. checks to me, i bet $70. folds all around to doddy, who calls. when the ace hit, he decared that he had played this hand so badly, so i know he didnt have a jack. i figured he had 2 pair or a set. so i ask not to pair the board but it does, a river ace. he checks angrily, which should have been a dead give away, i've seen him check the nuts before and i've seen him overreact when trying to sell something. but i didnt think of these instances in the heat of battle. i knew the only way i could win was to bet him off, so i put him allin, $187 and he insta calls with AQ. nice catch, bad bet by me. a total gift. spend it wisely my friend
