this is a $600 loss, if you can believe it. won several very big hands with overpairs vs top pair. always nice when the best hand holds up. was in for 200 and had over 1200 at one point when the tide turned. this one older guy beat me in every hand he played. we had been playing together for awhile and i had a pretty good read on the way he played differnt type hands. one hand, with J8d, i flop top pair and a flush draw. OG checks, i bet big he calls another guy calls. i know he is on diamonds too and figure to not have the best hand if they hit. turn bricks off. OG checks. i bet big again and this time get raised by the other guy. he made a straight. OG smooth calls a raise and reraise. i know he has nut diamond draw. i call too. (i just realized that calling was a mistake. i draw to the flush to beat the guys strt, but if OG is in too there is no way i can take down this pot. i should have raised big to get him off or just let it go. damn hindsight.) river is diamond. OG leads out. we both crying call. nuts.

the big hand that got me was this: OG limps middle position. folds to me on button. i make it $17 with aces. he thinks about folding, but calls. flop Kc8d9c. he leads out for $25. i put him on a king, maybe flopped 2 pair or a set. i make it $90, mostly to find out where he is in the hand. he only calls, i know i have the best hand. he doesnt slow play. turn is 5h. he cheks, i bet big, $200 into $221 pot. he calls. now i know he doesnt have a king. i think that hes probably on a flush draw. then he checks dark and i definitely know hes on clubs. river is 7c. i cant win, so i check behind. he shows me 46c! i scoff and say nice catch. then he tells me that i played the hand badly and that i had no idea where i was in the hand! what?! are you fucking retarded? i misplayed the hand?! hes the one who called every step when he was behind, even on the turn as a 3:1 dog when i was giving him barely 2:1 to call and then checked when he was ahead. i played badly? no sir, you played badly and got lucky. 6 high flush draw for $200 on the turn. idiot. i was mad and i told him so. i wasnt mad until he made that comment. after that i pretty much let him have it, which i absolutely never do, cuz i understand that playera making mistakes are who i win my money from, so i dont want to run them off. but this guy had a decent game. so for him to say that to me set me off. and later his wife walked up and commented on how big his stack had gotten, so i told her too how big a jackass her husband was...when i realized how mad i was and how i was acting, i decided to cut my losses and make a break for it before i gave away the rest like an idiot.

$5 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

got tired of sitting around waiting for hands in the 1/2 game and took a big risk by putting alot of my bankroll on the line in this 2/5 game. i buyin for the table max $500 and am the short stack. but i picked up a couple good sized pocket pairs right off the bat and ended up doubling with KK on a 994Q board. i checkraised the turn and he called with i dunno what, but he missed and i win. played like a rock and just kept adding to my stack bit by bit. one hand i am proud of: raised in early position with AJs, which is a little loose for how i'd been playing, got called by a new player who bought in for $1500 and by the button, a player who was in for several buyins cuz he wasnt afraid to bluff in any spot. flop comes 2h8hQc. i totally miss and check, new guy checks, bluffer bets $40. right then, i decided that i was gonna win this pot, so i called to set up a bluff. to my surprise, new guy calls too. turn is Qd. check to bluffer, he bets $100. this is my spot. i checkraise to $350, which is a pretty good bit of my stack. new guy folds (whew!) and bluffer thinks about it before reluctantly folding. nice! but i think i may have had the best hand anyway with ace high. who knows but i'm not complaining. i'll take it and needed this one.

played well but ran into it. with QQ, i bet the whole way, a guy check calls with top pair and catches runner runner flush with QJ to beat me. then got my aces cracked by deuces. couldnt take anymore 1/2 bs, so i decided to take it up to the 2/5 game.

November 29, 2007, 12PM: Played 6 hours, 30 minutes, Made $650.00 at Harrah's New Orleans
$2 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

after yesterday, decided to play like a rock and did. played super super tight and won a couple hands, then played off my image. the big stack limped and i decide to make a move. i raise on the button with QTh. he calls. everyone at the table thinks i have aces. they said so. flop comes A36 with 2 hearts. good flop for me, but not if he puts me on aces. but then he leads out into me, even though he thinks that ace hit. i've played with him long enough today to know that he always bets his draws and doesnt like to fold them. so i represent aces and raise big, he calls. turn is perfect 2h. i have the second nuts. he bets into me. i hope he doesnt have the nuts. but i cant fold. i talk it out outloud and basically sell him that i have top set and that i dont think he has a flush. i move allin, overbetting the pot. i want it to look like i'm trying to protect my set. he calls with 45d, the nut straight. hes drawing dead. sweet. and i've now abolished my super tight image. so a few hand later, after reraising with AK, i get lots of action from another deep player on a flop of AKJ and stack him for almost $400. nice win

November 27, 2007, 4PM: Played 4 hours, Lost $1,000.00 at Harrah's New Orleans
$5 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

build up to about $1100 when i make terrible allin call with AA on a board of QJ4. i know he has QJ and i call anyway. it was just bad. i cant justify it. knew i was beat. got greedy with all that money out there. i dont feel like i'm playing badly though, so i rebuy another $500. i play very well and build it up to nearly $1200. i watch this one idiot push allin with 44 on a coordinated board with 4 overs. he gets called by an over pair. river is the 4 and he wins a huge pot. so lucky. about 10 hands later, i limp utg with AA. idiot raises to $30. folds to me. no more trickiness. he is an idiot and i recognize this, so i will bet the rest of the way, knowing he will call with a worse hand. i make it $90, he calls. flop 468 rainbow. i bet $180 into $187 pot. he instacalls. turn is 9. now i will show weakness and check to let him bet like i watched him do in the other hand. i am 100% certain i have the best hand. i check, he bets $300 into $547. i checkraise allin for $590 more. he takes his time to call. i flip over my aces and say "this is what you have to beat." he shows me TT. river is a 7 for his miracle gutshot. i lose a monster pot. that was shitty as hell.
