December 31, 2008, 11AM: Played 2 hours, Lost $255.00 at Limelight
$3 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

Lost 220 on AA vs KK, and was actually thinking of laying the KK down preflop.  I just knew the guy had AAs, but realized during the hand that I'd be foolish to EVER lay down KK preflop.  I slow play, and he raises in small blind to $20, so I raise back to $60.  He raises me another $75, so obviously he's ready to put it all in right there.  He wasn't on tilt, as a matter of fact, he was playing pretty solid poker and had accumulated over $500.  I put him on AA or QQ and said to myself that I'm never going to lay down KK preflop, so I just went all in and he called immediately.  Oh well, those all even out in the long run.

$5 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

Played big game while waiting for 1/3 table.  Should have stayed as I was pretty hot, but just not ready to play the big game just yet.

December 30, 2007, 10AM: Played 4 hours, Made $133.00 at Limelight
$3 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

Played at big table, more than half the people had more money than me and wasn't really condusive to winning session.  Just one really bad player who overuses all ins, but for the most part not a good table.

Gary arrived after about an hour and I moved over to his table which consisted of mostly non experienced players (not Gary of course) with shorter stacks.  I live for these types of environments.  Players putting all $80 on draws and top pair.  And sure enough, walked into JQ and hit two QQs on flop, slow played and got a good size win (~$90) on first hand.  I played against a female who was push small bets on flop and turn.  I put her on a Q, but weaker kicker.  I should have put her all in on river, but just bet $30 after calling previously.  I need to evaluate these situations a little better when I feel I'm 90% good and player cannot lay down hand.

Next hand is actually very very comical.  My final hand before heading to the Kings/Suns game, after Gary busts when he hits two pairs against a nut straight.  QJ suited in early position and I raise to $10, 3 callers.  Flop comes J33, no spades.  I bet out $25, and player on button talks out loud saying I must have overs and he can't believe I hit any part of the flop.  He thinks about 30 seconds and calls, reluctantly.  Turn comes blank, and I bet out $30.  Player again talks out loud and says he doesn't think I have any piece of it, and says he has a pair and calls again.  River comes A, and I'm thinking he's telling the truth, so I still think my J is good, so I bet another $40.  He calls instantly and turns over pocket 66s.  What could he have beaten? Any A J 9 is good, I guess he put me on a complete bluff.  He proceeds to tell me not to criticize his play.  The only comment I made was saying, 'I can't believe you called with 66s, what do you think I had?' as I turned my cards over.  He then asks to play heads up and asks me how much money I had in my bankroll! I just mocked him by saying something like, "I should have criticized you more if I knew you that would lead to you playing 66s that way."

I didn't realize at the time, but apparently he didn't like the fact that a few hands previously I mentioned he shouldn't be pushing $60+ with AQ off suite.  He pushed me out of a pot when I had AQ suited and I thought he totally overplayed his hand and let him know that.  I need to find the sensitive poker players sooner as make for some really good action!

December 28, 2007, 4PM: Played 2 hours, Made $84.00 at Limelight
$3 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

Walked into A10 suited, won a big on a boat on turn.  Flop comes AQ10 (2 spades), I'm in early position and bet $15 into $20 pot, and he raised to $45.  One caller and I decide to call.  Turn comes 10 and I check , he goes all in and spade draw folds.  I call and he turns up AQ, bad turn!

December 24, 2007, 3PM: Played 3 hours, Made $175.00 at Limelight
$2 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

Nothing too significant.  Had about $160, have AK not suited in early position.  I decide to play slow and button raises to $40 with no other raisers.  I decide to go over to the top to $85, leaving me with about $75 left.  Player on button immediately goes all in.  So there's about $170 in pot and I'm getting 2 1/2 on money.  I'm putting him on AA or KK, anything less I'm insta-calling.  I think about it for a while and let it go.  The table is floored that I would make the raise and then not call the additional $75.  Of course, if I lose that hand, I'm leaving since I'd be stuck $320 in about 2 hours.  I still think it's the right play.  Best case, I'm 50/50, worse case I'm looking at 3 outs.  Luckily, I proceed to hit three straight big hands (2 straights, and then AA vs KK) and get all money back and then some.

December 22, 2007, 4PM: Played 2 hours, Lost $280.00 at Capitol Casino
$2 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

Lost majority on really bonehead play.  I had $150 to start hand with KK, raised to $50 and had one caller.  Flop comes A63, and I bet half my stack.  He goes all in and of course I call.  I wanted to bet an amount that would give me information, of course it was too much because with $250 in pot, I almost need to call anything after he goes all in.  He shows A3 to win the pot, so lose $150 when there's an overcard.  To my credit, he was a crazy loose player and had bluffed me out of a few pots, but I need to lay that down.  Arhhgg!

Played 10 hands and happily ended up with AK and hit nut flush on river.  I should play this game more often, but can't take the swings just yet.

A little too impatient, which seems to be the case when I don't play regularily and am trying to have a winning session in a short period (< 2 hours).

December 8, 2007, 2PM: Played 6 hours, Made $210.00 at Limelight
$3 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

Small stack goes all in, i have straight draw, and flush draw so I call $30 and there's another caller.  There's about $130 in pot, and the river comes A.  I now have a pair with 4 kicker, but missed flush/straight draws.  One player is already all in, and I check and opponent bets $25.  He has to have A with bigger kicker or already hit two pairs.  I know that he knows that he has to beat the all in player.  So I fold and to my surprise, he takes this $25 side bet and folds immediately and lets the other guy take the pot.  Very very strange play and come to find out he knows the other player.  I should have called the floor, but I'm not sure there's much recourse for that type of collusion.

All in all, a good night, but did chase a bit too much at end of night.  Was up $750 as one point.

December 5, 2007, 10AM: Played 3 hours, Lost $179.00 at Limelight
$3 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

Made three big mistakes costing me around $400.  First, flop comes AJ8, I hold J8 in unraised pot.  He bets $12, I raise to $30, he calls.  Turn is blank, he checks, I bet $50 and he calls.  I put him on AQ or A10.  River comes Q, and he bets $80, which pretty much puts me all in.  I figure Q hit him for two pair and lay down.  He shows A3.  Tough call, but still think that was the right laydown.  Any two pairs, I lose.  There are no draws, so I layed down correctly even though I had a winner.

Now, the next two were just terrible plays.  99, raise to $15, I raise to $30, two callers, then inital raiser goes all in for $29 more.  I call, and two others call as well.  Flop comes KQ10.  Checks around the three remaining in pot.  Turn comes up 9, bet goes $100, I call thinking he had a made straght.  River doesn't pair board and he bets another $100.  At this point, I'm beat since J is good, but I think there's too much in the pot (>500), so I call.  It's a bad call, but my rationale was that I thought there was a better than 20% chance my set of 9s were good.  $100 mistake.
