December 1, 2007, 12PM: Played 6 hours, Made $412.00 at Harrah's New Orleans
$2 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

this is a $600 loss, if you can believe it. won several very big hands with overpairs vs top pair. always nice when the best hand holds up. was in for 200 and had over 1200 at one point when the tide turned. this one older guy beat me in every hand he played. we had been playing together for awhile and i had a pretty good read on the way he played differnt type hands. one hand, with J8d, i flop top pair and a flush draw. OG checks, i bet big he calls another guy calls. i know he is on diamonds too and figure to not have the best hand if they hit. turn bricks off. OG checks. i bet big again and this time get raised by the other guy. he made a straight. OG smooth calls a raise and reraise. i know he has nut diamond draw. i call too. (i just realized that calling was a mistake. i draw to the flush to beat the guys strt, but if OG is in too there is no way i can take down this pot. i should have raised big to get him off or just let it go. damn hindsight.) river is diamond. OG leads out. we both crying call. nuts.

the big hand that got me was this: OG limps middle position. folds to me on button. i make it $17 with aces. he thinks about folding, but calls. flop Kc8d9c. he leads out for $25. i put him on a king, maybe flopped 2 pair or a set. i make it $90, mostly to find out where he is in the hand. he only calls, i know i have the best hand. he doesnt slow play. turn is 5h. he cheks, i bet big, $200 into $221 pot. he calls. now i know he doesnt have a king. i think that hes probably on a flush draw. then he checks dark and i definitely know hes on clubs. river is 7c. i cant win, so i check behind. he shows me 46c! i scoff and say nice catch. then he tells me that i played the hand badly and that i had no idea where i was in the hand! what?! are you fucking retarded? i misplayed the hand?! hes the one who called every step when he was behind, even on the turn as a 3:1 dog when i was giving him barely 2:1 to call and then checked when he was ahead. i played badly? no sir, you played badly and got lucky. 6 high flush draw for $200 on the turn. idiot. i was mad and i told him so. i wasnt mad until he made that comment. after that i pretty much let him have it, which i absolutely never do, cuz i understand that playera making mistakes are who i win my money from, so i dont want to run them off. but this guy had a decent game. so for him to say that to me set me off. and later his wife walked up and commented on how big his stack had gotten, so i told her too how big a jackass her husband was...when i realized how mad i was and how i was acting, i decided to cut my losses and make a break for it before i gave away the rest like an idiot.
