Online Poker - Having Company

So, late last night mtcarddealer contacted my via yahoo messenger wanting to play on Poker Stars.

I had no intention of playing but after seeing him destroy the PLO game in less than an hour thought, "why not?".

So, I jumped in a two games and watched him play a tourney and a live game.

We exchanged messages on occasion, asking each other why they played a hand a certain way, or complaining about beats.  What was really cool is we let the other know of what game texture and chip stacks, mind set.

My point is... usually we play alone online and our distracted by other stuff.  In this case casual sporadic chatter lets you know that you are not alone, are being watched and have support.  We both don't need this but it helps to maintain a good winning attitude and pushes away possible forms of online tilt as the other will call you on it.

I remember doing this with Hammerman ages ago when we were playing a lot of tournaments.  We would catch each other's strengths and weaknesses and share successful and unsuccessful strategies.  We also made the other aware of good upcoming tourneys to jump in.

So, if you play online a lot and can handle some back ground conversations, try it.  It should help keep you both on track.

Online Gambling

I stated "not to mention the fact that online gambling for the most part is illegal, right???" I questioned the statement because I have been unable to determine 100% without a doubt whether "online gambling" is legal/illegal/quasi-legal/quasi-illegal.

In short, aside from a few incomplete references you and/or I may find in this regard have been unsuccessful. As you will find in the coming months and years, online gambling and the internet in general will be more regulated and stricter to access...

I hear ya though!!!

Play Money Series of Poker

I thought of something that would be a lot of fun for us play money people.  I am also aware that it is extremely unlikely that any poker site would incorporate this idea because play money, obviously, doesn't bring in any profits.  However, a Play Money Series of Poker would be a very fun event to offer the play money players once or twice a year.  A site could run, say, 12 events of varying buyins and different games culminating in the "main event."

This event could be one week long, two events a night for five nights followed by a larger buyin event on the sixth day and the main event on the seventh.  The site could run satellites nightly throughout the year for players to win their seat into the Main Event.  Also, like the WSOP, the winner of each event could win a "bracelet" in the form of a colored bar on their avatar (or something like that).  They could also keep a "Player of the Year" leaderboard, and the winner's avatar could be fitted with a "'07 POY" poker jersey.

Trust me, I am aware of the near impossibility of this ever happening, but a guy can dream can't he.  Some of us college kids can't risk losing our tuition money and this would be a great way to bring a more realistic level of play to the play money games.  Anyways, back to homework, and reality.

my QQQ held up!!

yarrrr
it feels so good when my hand does what its supposed to.

note here, that i played it perfectly, limped first in late for 3way pot, trapped them with full house, let them catch up, heads up after 6th st, got 3 bets in on the river even.... im proud, that i did not let my recent losing streak affect my play AT ALL....

good job.

losing streak

when youre runnin bad.... well.... its tough. seems like, since end of january, i cant win a single important hand. when my rolled sets get rivered like 5 or 6 times in a row, that reallly hurts... because im playing them aggressively after 4th st, im investing a good bit into each pot....

anyways, unlike many players, when im running bad, they get looser and play bad cards.... when i run bad, i play tighter, and less cards, and chase even less. this part is good.
what i need to work on, is to keep raising as often as i normally do, at the appropriate times. whether to make the pot larger or to isolate certain players. dont worry about whether i have the best hand- make the best play, at all times. and calling, is usually not the best play. hammer that home.

Neteller worse than Party Poker - International US Dictatorship (Just Ranting)

(*warning, I need to get laid so I'm very surly lately*)

What a bunch of pussies!

I'm really pissed of with them.

Neteller not only rolls over to appease the American "Dictating to the World" Government how to run business but now they screw all American customers by locking up their accounts.

After the owners got arrested passing through the USA they are really doing anything and everything the American Gov't wants.

What has happened is Neteller will no longer allow peer to peer transfers, why? Because they fear non-US account holders will be brokers for gaming sites and US players.  Meaning, a US player transfers X dollars via Neteller to a non US Neteller member.  That non US Neteller member then can deposit that money into a poker site and then within THAT poker site they then transfer the money to the US player... a "loop hole" that is 3 steps.  Neteller has been more than helpful to abide the "US Redneck Ultra Conservative Republican Wire Transfer Bullshit Signed at Midnite Attached to the Port Security Act" by not allowing US members to deposit funds into Gaming Sites, but now to take it this far as to not allow transfers because "possibly" the money could end up being rerouted is fucking retarded and bowing down sucking the American Govt's dick.  Who the hell is to say that now instead of using this process that a US player can just transfer funds from his Paypal account(or any account for that matter) to the non US persons pay pal account.  Then that non US person can just send him the funds on any poker site he wishes? Then what is next.. the US Govt will go after EVERY SINGLE online banking site that allows any transfers to NON US Citizens.  And then after that they will have to make it flat out illegal for any US citizen to send ANY money in anyway shape or form to any Non US citizen.  That would be the ONLY way to stop us from gambling online.  Even if they did that, shit I'd buy Jose Gonzales in Mexico that Laptop computer he wanted with my credit card and he'll just deposit 1K into my poker account for me.  The point is You CANT STOP IT.

The next thing Neteller did was shut down all withdraw requests for US members.  So all my fucking money, and a shit load of other people's money, is locked up.  You can't move it into your bank, can't transfer it to a friend and can't dump it on a site...frozen.

I really feel sorry for some guys I know that have huge amounts of money on there and use it like their personal checking accounts.  One guy travels around the world with his laptop playing and has(had) a Neteller debit card to get cash from any country he was in.  They shut that down to, so now, anyone that is American that had a Neteller Debit card, that does not work either.

Sad.. I'm just really frustrated with hubris American Government and it's naive attempt to control the uncontrollable.  They just love to engage in un winnable battles, like the "war on drugs", the "war on terror", the "war on immigration" and now the "war on online gaming".  It is just a drain on our resources and a misallocation of funds, all of which could be better used elsewhere.
