WSOP
 Ok my fellow OPL'rs, i am heading to vegas in a couple of days for my WSOP, I have 2 events to play a 2k NLHE and I think I will play the ladies event for 1k, I am also going to play a couple of the deepstack tourneys at the venetian and cesears.
So wish me luck guys and hopefully my next posts will be six figures.......

Deposit Processed
Depositing money on to Cake Poker can be painful. They do not give players from the United States many options to deposit. My debit card was declined, so I had to deposit using my checking account though eWalletXpress. I thought it would be instant, but I had to wait for the vendor to make a withdrawal from my checking account before it appeared in my account and I could transfer it onto Cake Poker. I started this on Monday, and finally, 3 days later, my starting bankroll of $100 is on Cake.

Detailed Hand History
 O M G!
I am playing a $2 double stacked tournament right now that I will post soon as I finish. However, I had decided at the start of this tourney to type out a detailed hand history as I played. For example:
Hand 1: 60xBB. MP with AK. I raised to 120 and got 1 caller. Details..............
6 folds.
Hand 8: Detailed hand analysis.......
9 folds.
Blinds raise to 25-50.
3 folds.
Hand #: Hand analysis.........
I am 140 hands (2 hours) into the tournament and had a ton of great stuff for any of you guys that wanted to read through it as well as a great tool for me to review my play when I accidently hit the refresh button at the top of the window. I feel more sick about this than whatever beat I will surely take on the bubble in this tournament lol.
It was quite a bit of work but I enjoyed doing it so I think I will try again but who knows how many more times it will take for me to get this deep while recording hands.
Anyways, just wanted someone out there to feel my pain since I was hoping some of you OPLers could maybe enjoy reading some of it. Oh well, GL me in this tourney.

Introduction/Experiment
Introduction
This poker blogging thing seems pretty cool – I think I will give it a shot. Even if nobody is interested in reading my entries, it would be cool to have my own poker diary to look back upon.
I play live about once a month in Atlantic City. You can usually find me at either Borgata or Showboat playing 3/6 or 4/8 limit. Sometimes when I am there on a Friday night/Saturday during the summer, I will play the "pink-chip ($7.50/$15.00) game" at the Tropicana for fun. I used to play no-limit, but my heart could not continue to take the stress that no-limit causes.
This online poker blog gave me the idea to try something different. I just signed up (with rake back!) on Cake Poker. For my experiment, I am going to deposit $100 and start with the micro-stakes limit games and attempt to work my way up the stakes through proper bankroll management. I will start at $.10/$.20 (500 big blinds), and I can not move up to the next level until I reach 500 big blinds. For example, I can not move up to $.25/$.50 until my bankroll reaches $250.

MSOP on FTP
Full Tilt is running a "Mini Series of Poker" that coincides with the real World Series of Poker. Each tournament that starts on a given day during the WSOP will have a matching tournament on Full Tilt, but for 1% the buy in.
For instance, next Friday the WSOP will be kicked off by a $10,000 PL Holdem tournament. Full Tilt will be running a $100 PL Holdem tournament that same day.
Now, I won't be putting up $100 to play but there are several $1,000-$2,000 events ($10-$20 on FTP) as well as very low buy in sattelites. Most of the tournaments start at either 3:20 ET or 8:20 ET.
I work at a camp during the summer and have to "work" from 8pm-12:30am Sunday-Thursday so I will only be able to play the earlier tournaments or tournaments on the weekend. Either way, I look forward to playing several of these and satty'ing into several of the bigger ones. Hope to see you OPLers out there.

Poker Bots
 Here is a comprehensive article about writing poker bots. Basically, a rules-based bot can break even at the tables and earn $80k in a year on rakebacks and player points.

If you had 10 of these going, that's $800k/year, and you don't even have to make money at the tables.
I'm assuming most people know more about this than me, but I really like the "collusion server". Then again, it seems like the best thing for the bots to do is break even for as long as they can, which is good for the humans. It is unlikely that anyone with a winning bot would actually *want* to win...except to be able to prove that they can do it. I'm guessing that latter motivation may keep people from doing the smart thing, which probably means I'm getting my brains beat out by non-humans.

Big Daddy's
 Played a little bit there with my brother buying me in. He ended up losing probably $100 or so running into bigger hands and I played only 2 hands out of about 30 dealt and lost $4. Pretty shitty session, but I did meet TheWerm in person. Hahaha, it's weird meeting OPLers in person. Also, Daryl was dealing so that was cool too.

Delayed Main Event Final Table
I actually heard about this a few weeks ago but it has exploded on the forums over the last day or so. Check it out:
By Gary Mihoces, USA TODAY You've just made the final table in July in the Main Event at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. You're one of nine players with a shot at millions. You're hot. Now you have to wait until Nov. 9 for the next hand to be dealt. No problem, says two-time Main Event champion Johnny Chan, who welcomes the WSOP's move to delay the final table to facilitate a Nov. 11 ESPN telecast within hours of the tournament's finish. MORE ON HIATUS: 117-day wait will allow for 'almost virtually real time' telecast "Poker is a game of skill. The hands are random. … It's how you play your hand. I don't believe in hot streaks," Chan says. Past final tables have been played in July, with ESPN airing its taped show in November. Chan says the new format will allow players to connect with sponsors who "come to them and say, 'Hey, wear this patch or wear this logo. We'll give you X amount of dollars.' " While poker pro Daniel Negreanu also applauds the timetable, he says it will make for a "different dynamic" at the final table. "You're going to see some really kind of more sophisticated play," he says. The WSOP is a 55-event series of tournaments that begins May 30. ESPN will begin airing taped broadcasts of various events July 22. Negreanu expects players at the final table to monitor those. "They're going to watch the ESPN broadcasts and go, 'Oh, did you notice that? When he does this, he's bluffing,' " Negreanu says. He says players also can get coaching. He likens it to Super Bowl coaches getting two weeks to make a game plan: "Great players and amateurs alike will have an opportunity to really devise schemes and plans for how they're going to play." In a news release issued by PokerStars, an online poker site, 2004 Main Event champion Greg Raymer says he is torn about the new format because of the potential for coaching. "It might be huge for the continued growth of poker; however, the down side is this long gap allows the players to become completely different people between the time they make the final table and when they play it," says Raymer, a member of Team PokerStars. For ESPN, there also will be a change in the dynamic. The title figures to be won in the early hours of Nov. 11, with the two-hour telecast of the final table set for 9 p.m. ET. "The champion will be crowned on the day of air. We're very excited about this change," ESPN senior producer Jamie Horowitz says. ESPN will air a special Nov. 4 showing what the players have done between the July determination of the final nine and the final table. "We want to detail that journey," Horowitz says. What if something happens that precludes a player from playing at the final table? The WSOP has accounted for that. A player who does not appear will have his chips "blinded off," which means they will be paid into mandatory bets for each hand. When a competitor's last chip is played, he will be paid for where he finishes. Two-time Main Event champion Doyle Brunson would prefer each player to be allowed an alternate, "somebody that's not considered to be a player with abilities above their own." Though Brunson, 74, has reservations about the delay being "overkill," he'd have no qualms about having to deal with it. "No, I'll try to hang on another four months," he said, laughing.
People on the forums are pretty pissed. Complaints about bad players getting coaching, greedy Harrah's and ESPN, what to do if someone dies in the 4 month hiatus, and possible collusion have people saying the idea is crazy.
Personally I like it though. Everyone going into the tournament understands the situation. I also heard that everyone would be awarded 9th place money during the 4 months so they don't have to walk away empty-handed. This would also, in my opinion, really help grow the game. There could be a ton of exposure for the final tablists and a psudo-live telecast of the final table would be interesting for your average joe that doesn't play.
I understand there are downsides to it, but, if it helps grow the game and bring in more money to the poker world, then I am all for it. If it bombs, go back to the old way next year.
