Second 100 MTTs

On October 21st I finished my 100th multi-table tournament and now, exactly 2 months later, I finished my 200th tournament yesterday.

The average field size for my second 100 tournaments was 523, down a couple hundred from the first set because I played more $2 tourneys as oppposed to $1 tourneys.  I met my goal of 8 final tables.  I won one tournament (goal was 3).  I had 4 top three's missing my goal by one.  I had 28 cashes which was down from 30 last set and off of my goal by 5.  Part of this is because the $1 tournaments I played in the first set paid a higher percentage of the field than the $2 tourneys I played more of this time.  Lastly I cashed for $352 with $136 being profit (down from the $525/$331 of my first set).  This thanks in most part to my win in the Ferguson for $252 during my first 100 tournaments.

I am pretty happy with my stats but know that I made some fairly big mistakes while in position to make a top three run.  I also think that I gave up on several tourneys and shoved too light just to double up.  I wanna try to play every tournament as best I can during the next 100.  I also want to mix in several more $5 tourneys now that my bankroll is bigger.

Poker Journal

I took my 1.75 and turned it into 2.39 which is a .64 cent profit playing.5-.10 limit on b-dog.  I played tight aggressive and it paid off.  I will build this stack by playing beginner sngs on b-dog til I can venture off into other areas of the poker world.  I followed that up by finishing 2nd in a 2.20 beginner sng on b-dog.  I should have won.  My opponent pushed and claimed he wanted a flipament.  I believed him and I was right.  He had 5-8 and I had a6.  He flopped an 8.  That crippled me and he went on to win.  I played perfect for the most part.  I will win more often than not.  roll up to 5.19 now.  MOVIN ON UP! I decided to invest 4.40 in 2 beginner sngs and finished out of the money in both.  Both times with AK once vs aces and once vs 99.  God I hate AK! Well down to .79 cents now.  micro donkament cash game I guess!

I finished 55th in the b-dog pts freeroll for 1.75.  I played pretty well and picked my spots except for late in the tourney when I tried to bluff big stack and I knew better I was just trying to build up my stack.  I have gotta pick better spots.

"More Stats" - What is working/What is not

I just got done reviewing my "more stats" overall and for the last 30 days.  For those that do not know this feature you can see what, where, hours etc.

For me, since I play different games, levels and tournaments on primarily two sites it is important to look at "what is working and what is not".

My conclusion is on Poker Stars I should stick with tournaments, specifically PLO when available and then Texas Hold'em.  On FullTilt I should stay clear of tournaments and concentrate specifically on lower limit Pot Limit Omaha games.

This was very blatant when I compared hours played with money won/lost.  I fight with myself though and think, "why can't I do well on Full Tilt tournamnents but do well on Poker Stars?" Bottom line, it doesn't matter.

Stick with what is working!

So I suggest to any of you who have mulitple things going on to view your "more stats", analyze it and make the appropriate changes.  For those happy with your success, don't change much but take a peek.

For those that are just playing the same game, limit and location and feel they are struggling, try and vary up your games.  Try new places and game types, online and live.  Find where you win and keep going at it.

Just my thoughts, happy hunting.

btw - just watched "Lucy You", not to fond of poker movies but this one was very realistic with "real" poker people involved, anyone that has spent time in Vegas or LA will recognize many of the people, not just the pros.

Poker Stars and Full Tilt Hand History Uploading

Finally Rob sat on the couch and finished up hand history uploading for both Full Tilt Poker and Poker Stars!

For now not much information is given to you, but remember this, the more hands that are saved the more information will be available to all of us later.

Hand Histories are also nice to backup and verify your online performance as well as to replay hands that were problematic and get opinions.

Uploading hand histories for these sites are the same as Party Poker is, Hand History Uploading Guide

*with Full Tilt Poker you must click the "Save My Hand Histories" box for them to be saved to your machine, the box is located in the "Main Menu" under "Options" and the last option titled "Hand History..." once open you can click the "Save My Hand Histories" box.

*for Poker Stars to save hand histories to your machine, log into the "Main Menu", click the "Options" tab, then close to the bottom the "Instant Hand History Options..."
There you can click the "Save My Hand History" box.

On both sites once in the Hand History menu you can choose where to save the Hand History files on your computer and also to set the length of time in which to save hand histories.

Account Sharing

Looks like someone just lost a $200k win by having his buddy in Europe finish off the $1M tourney he started in NYC:

http://www.pokerlistings.com/possible-cheater-caught-at-full-tilt-poker-21428

A lot of this goes on, but you need to take risk/reward into account.  As the size of your winnings go up, the likelihood that you will be caught sharing your account goes up.  What this means is that, as your expected win goes up, your motivation to share your account goes down.  The obvious conclusion is that if you are willing to share your account, it probably means you aren't planning on doing very well at it.

By Invite Only

I'm looking to have an invite only $500 buy-in $5 entry, dealer's choice tournament at my house on New Year's Eve if anyone is interested? I'll provide all the food and drinks, establish the betting rounds and structure, etc. Play will be limited to two tables or 20 people maximum... The goal here is to get everyone sloppy ass drunk where the winner, assuming not everyone passes out, comes out the champion in the Bouvet Winter Classic. The Central Valley is perfectly located between San Francisco and Los Angeles. Bring a sleeping bag and a pillow as there's plenty of room.

Re-focus

I have been playing more than I planned and more than I should while at school.  It hasn't actually affected my school work too much, but it has affected my play.  A lot of times I try to do work during tournaments or play too late knowing that I need to get up early the next morning.  I think these things have kept me from playing as well as I can at certain times.  Sooo, from now on I am going to attempt to play only one tourney a day during the week and save the high volume days for breaks.  I also want to try and focus more while playing and really try to play every tournament as best I can.  Alright, well that's that, now hopefully we will see the top threes come a little more often now!
