June 30, 2006, 5AM: Played 1 hour, 12 minutes, Made $64.00 at Wynn Las Vegas
$3 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

Waiting for user "donkey" to get off work and sat in this game.

Not much action.  Everyone was playing relatively tight.  If there was a raise preflop everyone was on guard.

So I just picked off a few blinds and limp re-raised early a few hands to aquire chips.

I had an interesting question posed to me the other day and I thought you would appreciate it. Last week a coworker and I were talking about the old Montana days. He asked an interesting question. "How do you as a player compare to the days when you first started playing poker"? At a loss for words I answered "I don't know". “I would like to think I've improved and have learned what not to do in specific situations (reading hands, pot odds, etc.)” but I wasn't able to respond accordingly. I wasn’t able to state specific areas where I’ve improved and why. Personally, I don't know whether I've improved my game compared to the past. My only response to the coworker was my game now, in my opinion, is smarter and less stressful; knowing what hands to play, when to fold, and most importantly, playing with money I can afford to lose (i.e., not being stubborn by calling 95% of the hands down to the river). Aside from that, I’ve never had a player subjectively critique my play and suggest areas to improve. Knowing this I wonder how my game could be if I had talent showing me...Or the hurtful question. If I don’t have a future in the game should I continue playing...

Nate,

That is an interesting question.  I kind of feel at a loss for words as well when I'm asked the same thing.  After some thought though I guess that you like me just did not pay enough attention to everything going on in the past.

Like position, bankroll, betting patterns of opponents, starting hand selections for us and opponents, tilt effected us, we would play drunk/high.  All these factors effect our play.  I could name off more but I think we get the point.

Whether or not you have a future in this game?... This is why I love this site so much, you can just look at your results and see.

Even if you don't have a future in this game (loosing money) you can see how much you loose per hour and decide if you can afford the habit and hope to improve over time.

*We did have fun running around like assholes, I thankfully feel like are way different people today than then.
