August 7, 2009, 10AM: Played 2 hours, 54 minutes, Made $155.00 at Lilac Lanes
$22 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (1st out of 30 Players)

Three way chop.

Got the monkey off my back.  Started off badly.  With the blinds at 50/100 I make it 300 with A/Q two UTG.  Danny, a VERY aggressive player, pushes all-in for 1550.  I had already decided that if he pushed, I was going to call.  He did, I called and he showed me wired queens.  Yuck.  His hand held up and I was down to 975.

So begins the long climb back.  Won a race with pocket nines against two overs, then limped in with A/Jd and got it in on the flop after the board showed an ace.  Doubled up again with the bigger ace than what called me (A/5).

Back in the hunt, I picked my spots carefully.  Did go all-in over the top of painter Rob with wired tens, taking out his fives and nearly elimanating him.  That was big.

My reads were dead on today, besides the A/Q hand early, and not panicing paid off in the end.  Feels good.

Spokane lost a long time poker player and all around good guy last week when Bert Olson passed away.  I knew Bert my whole life and always enjoyed seeing him and his smile at Lilac Lanes.  He'll be missed.

August 2, 2009, 12PM: Played 25 hours, Made $1,950.00 at Northern Quest
$1/2 Texas Hold'em

this entry is for the last two months of playin live at our local big casino. I havent logged i a while but i thought i would keep it up. The last four sessions have been successful so far and i have not run into any crazy play that breaks me off. The players in the big game are pretty respectable except when the drunks come to play and love losing a grand in less than an hour. But if you get ur money in good you usually get paied off depending on the alcholoics luck. I havent been playin much tourneys even though i chopped a 4 way last night for a big chunk. 33 dolla buy 5oo added and 35 players makes for a big pot. Keep ur instincts on point...PEACE OUT PERM....

August 2, 2009, 2AM: Played 8 hours, Made $150.00
$0.5/1 Texas Hold'em

Played multiple sessions over the last 2 days. Mixed it up w/ SNG's, MTT's, Omaha, and NL cash games. Got deep in the 20k and had a big stack when I flopped the nuts and lost a huge pot when a guy turned a higher straight. My SNG luck continues to be absolutly horrible. Today I played 6 sngs, 4 were 6 handed and 2 were double ups. I got 3rd in 3 of the 6 handed SNGs and took bad beats in each one. I'm amazed to see how poorly big stacks play in the SNGs; mainly limp folding to short stacks and limp calling w/ weak hands like A5 and KT. Even players that run a profit over 2k sngs seem to play such bad fundemental poker it shocks me to see them in the black. Fortunately the cash games continue to be super soft and I've been bulldozing the .5/1 short handed games. I find these to be so much easier to beat and I'd much rather run 4 of these tables than 2 1/2NL.

July 30, 2009, 7PM: Played 2 hours, 17 minutes, Lost $197.30 at full tilt
$0.25/0.50 Omaha

this session was all donkey all the time.  I was totally exhausted from work, never should've started an knew better, but like a donk.  Anyway, I start off horrible, losing a cap pot with AA vs 2 4 5 8.  That sets me kinda off and I just start playing way too many hands.  After getting stuck 100 I am down 40 and have the get even pot in my sights, total wrap for about 80 bucks and I miss it, so then I lose my focus again, combined with a real shitty run and these are the results.  Last week of work tubed off.  More than I made in affiliate as well, what a shame to be so stupid and tired.

wow, I am a sick sick man.  I ran too awful early and got stuck huge, down about 106 at peak.  Then I hit two miracles back to back.  I just sat down at this table with plenty of action.  First hand I play I have trash on the button, something like AQ109, it's raised to 2, I love position I call.  Flop is Q 8 6 rainbow, so double gutter top pair.  It's bet like 4 bucks I call, comes back around check raised to 12 or something, eh fuck it, I am stuck, bad play, I agree, 3 way pot and I spike the 7 on the river for the nuts, 55 buck pot.  Very next hand I have AAxx double suited.  It's raised to 2 in front of me, I pot it to 6 and get 3 callers.  Flop is K 7 6 rainbow, first guy caps it off at 14, next guy calls, I have a K as well and two runner runner flush draws, I call as well.  Amazingly everyone has middle str. draws and only 1 has a pair, which is 6's, turn J river 7, aces up are good for 77 more and I am out of the hole, thank god! I was running bad early, then got lucky playing fairly bad, although both of those plays weren't THAT bad, still not my normal game.  I press to much when stuck still for sure.

July 30, 2009, 4AM: Played 4 hours, Made $280.00
$3,293 Buy-In Texas Hold'em Tournament (10 Players)

Took a much needed day off yesterday and came in feeling refreshed and excited to play. I decided to stick with SNGs today and I table selected pretty hard. I played for about 4 hours and only played in 9 SNGs. Normally I’d play twice that but I waited for soft tables then jumped in. I played quite a 5 Super Turbo s which tend to attract a different breed of players. I managed to take some pretty sick beats but I suppose that’s the norm in these ST’s. I feel like a broken record talking about bad beats but I have been running awful for quite some time now. After taking some sick beats I managed to win a few SNGs including a $93 and $72 to end the night.

July 28, 2009, 9PM: Played 3 hours at White Stone
$7 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (2nd out of 9 Players)

Finished 2nd in the BPC No-Limit Challenge

1st) Bob
2nd) ME
3rd) Adam

Played really well, for the most part. Got some nice hands, and played them well. Knocked Josh out on his first hand (for the 2nd time this season)...he had top 2 pair, i had trips. Got heads-up with Bob with about a 3 to 2 chips lead, but he kept catching nice cards...couldn't do too much about it. The hand he won on was quad 9s (with an ACE kicker). Anyways, pissed i didn't win, but proud of the way i played. Now i am 3rd in points and in decent position for a top 4 finish in points. If i win the next tourney (BPC Club Champ.), i have a nice shot of getting "BPC Player of the Year".

was up maybe another 30, but obviously a great session.  I really just got lucky early to be a little winner which led me to maybe play bad in a big pot, but you can gamble with sugar right.  I have something like A J 9 8, don't recall exactly, it's raised preflop to 2 I call, guy makes it about 8 or so, the whole world calls, I am in the cutoff, repop is button.  comes total brick flop, J 6 4 with two hearts, I am ready to concede the hand, it's checked around to the bettor, everyone else folds to me, he was actually all in for not too big a bet I realize, like 9 bucks, there was 40 in there already, I even type in I know I am bad here, but I gotta stab at it, he rolls over AA45 no flush draw, so I have decent outs and spike the 9 right on the turn for 58 bucks.  I went on the heat from there and had a great session!

July 28, 2009, 1AM: Played 4 hours, Made $1,050.00
$30 Buy-In Texas Hold'em Tournament (6th out of 285 Players)

Good day of poker, although a little frustrating at the end. I played in the 20k $30 Multi rebuy MTT and managed to get 6th, which paid just under 1k. This is the 3rd time in the last 2 weeks I've made it to this final table. I came in as chip leader and played very tight for about 2 hours. The action was crazy and the short stacks kept doubling which was rather annoying. After getting my blind stolen by the button repeatedly I repoped w/ A7 and was called by AT. I had 14bbs at the time and he had 12. I'm still debating my play with this hand, I think I'm making the correct play there. I felt with my tight table image and the fact there were a few very short stacks the repoping to a bit over min raise has solid EV.

I also played some .5/$1 short handed and a few SNG's. I've been running pretty bad in both of late so I've really been table selecting. I found a very weak cash game and found an interesting opponent. He was the best example of a calling station I've seen to date. He raised one time preflop in 2 hours and failed to make any value bets out of position on river. He could have easily stacked me twice but he flat called w/ 2nd nuts when I had 3rd nuts. He had a run of cards that I don't remember seeing in quite some time. Yet he only managed to get up to $240. I walked from that table at $220, for a profit of $60.

Sng's were the only loss of the day. I bubbled in 3 6 handed sngs and 2 were particularly brutal. I had QQ w/ 3800 and raised to 600 (3xbb), the other big stack who barely had me covered snap shoved his stack and I snap call. He had 55 and 5 on river.

Overall good day, other than a few bubble sng suck outs nothing horrible like the past week. I'm also happy say I didn't put any significant bad beats on anyone today.

here's a lovely gotta be rare occurrence.  I get AA double suited twice, both times I get a fool with KK, both times they make quads.

had another time where I flop a set vs. AA only on flop and he gets it in with me and goes runner runner flush, had a guy with a set and two pair on the K J 10 flop against my A Q find like the case board pair on the river, and finally one annoying hand I hate seeing, I have 2 2 4 4 double suited, flop is A 7 2 with 2 hearts which I have for defense more than wanting to hit it, I pot it and get shoved in by the naked nut flush draw, of course it peels right off for the fool.

having bitched about all that, I thought I played very well this session.  didn't tilt ever and hung tough and still managed to win.  I would guess the total amounts of those five pots was 200 or more, could've had a nice session pretty easily!
