$4.40 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (1st out of 180 Players)

Its a tiny tournament in terms of buy-in but the resilience of some of these players is amazing. I got the topspot after a tough battle with the last two opponents, with one stack exploding to 180,000 while mine took a nosedive to 40,000. In the end, I simply outplayed them.
I played something like 19 percent of my hands.

$22 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament

Duh. Dabbling around a bit but nothing worked. Thi8s is a roundup of several bloopered mini tourneys. Lots of fun and no cashes.

$5.50 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (1st out of 45 Players)

Finally back in the online world. Hanging in a long time just to survive, then started catching the right cards at the right time. Played 19 percent of my hands, passing on many weak aces and out-of-position killers like J-T suited. Payed off.

$25 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (11th out of 20 Players)

Found out the hard way that AK even suited, is an overrated hand. Twice I got AK of hearts, I got real agressive with them, twice I lost. On one occasion I got called by some nerd with 10-9 offuit, who hit his 9 on a paired board. Duh.
One of those nights where nothing worked, nothing hit. I am not whining because I find that a waste of time. You win some, you lose some, but this was a tourney to forget asap. I am comforted by the thought that, ever since I picked up the cards again back in August, I am still playing wit other people's money.

November 6, 2007, 9PM: Played 4 hours, Made $125.00 at Princess Casino, Port de Plaisance
$25 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (4th out of 21 Players)

Tough tournament where I learned that patience does pay off every now and then. Before the break I played very few hands and I won just three, but I sat with a reasonable stack. After the break I went more or less card dead and I struggled to make the final table. I let it bleed down to 4,000 in chips; then I had to move, and my suited K-3 ran into AK! Cracked that monster when a 3 hit the turn. When I was in the money, in fourth place, I gambled with pocket threes against the same player and this time it was bye-bye, coz he held pocket Jacks. Went home a happy camper.

November 2, 2007, 2PM: Played 3 hours, 30 minutes, Lost $100.00 at Rouge et Noir, Philipsburg
$2 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

Tough session, where I hovered for hours around my starting stack, then I finally picked up some pots, only to blow it all on two hands. First I get Kh-9h out of position and I limp. Board comes all diamonds with K-9. I push my two pair and get called by one player who later turns out to be holding... pocket sevens. He hits a set on the turn and tops it off with a flush on the river. Then I go down with pocket tens against a player who hits a Queen on the flop. Shouldn't have pushed this one, but there you go. No fool like an old fool, lol.

$2 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

Dull cash game, though there was a bunch of wild gamblers at the table. With A-Q suited in the small blind I flop the nut flush draw with two Jacks on board.  I move all in, and a player holding pocket Queens calls me. I don't improve and go broke. Mwah, worse things have happened to me at a poker table. Better next time. My strategy is to minimize losses to $100 a session and to storm back on better days. Works so far.

$25 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (6th out of 29 Players)

Duh. Some interesting winning hands with AA, QQ and AQ, but otherwise unremarkable. Made the final table with a reasonable stack, but I went card dead and got eaten up by the blinds. When I finally made a move with K-Q offsuit I ran into pocket Kings and went out sixth, one place outside the money. At least I won a small last-longer bet against my colleague Geno.

October 19, 2007, 2PM: Played 2 hours, Made $55.00 at Rouge et Noir, Philipsburg
$2 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

Roller coaster afternoon. Got AA on the first hand and made hardly any money, then lost 3/4 of my $100 stack when my K-10 flopped top two pair and I failed to play agressive to protect my hand. I let a player draw to a set. Duh. Still came out on top when my last hand, K-3 offsuit hit two pair against a player holding 10-3. From $95 in the hole to $55 up, I ain't complaining, though I kick my own behind for the way I handled the K-10 hand.

$25 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (17th out of 20 Players)

Boy, what a night. Before the break I go all in with my last 700 and I get SIX callers, so I think I'm dead. A ten hits the flop and my K-kicker carries the day.
After the break, I soon make my trade makr moron move with As-Js. From the small blind I move all in for about 8,000 and I get called by a guy holding Ah-Qh. three hearts hit the flop and I am gone.
Cloutier came to mind on the way home: Never bluff an idiot because he will always call you.
Point taken.
