Final table. I'm dealt pocket Kings in the Small Blind and the person to the left of me raises one big blind. I re-raise in the face of everyone else's fold. I get called.
 
At this point, I know that the person has ace high, so as long as there are no aces on the flop, I'm in excellent shape!!
 
Flop misses me. Most important, no ace. I bet out 4/5 the pot, I get called. This makes me nervous, and I wonder if they paired and the ace is now a kicker. No worries.
 
The turn is a complete whiff, so I bet out again, pot sized. I get raised all-in, and it smells like a desperate attempt to buy the pot. I call, and get shown an ace high flush.
 
I was right about ace high, but damn I was wrong about the turn....

Three handed, raised with pocket fives. Re-raised by chip leader (I had two hundred less), went all-in. Other bastard had pocket aces.
 
Not a big deal. I placed in the money. That was my big goal today.

Out again. This is not how I play. It feels like I hit a glass ceiling sometimes, because I can't get myself over a certain dollar amount - all of a sudden every hand I'm involved in is a dud, and every hand I lay down was a gem.
 
Once I run out of money, it will start again. Up to the ceiling, and then back down. Which is why I haven't put any additional money down since losing $2000 at a table. I had hit that ceiling.
 
I have to figure out what I'm doing wrong, and fix it. What is it that won't let me past that ceiling? Any suggestions?

K7s shortstacked, limped in the SB and hit top pair on the flop. Went All-In and was called with someone who had whiffed the flop with AJs. Two runners later, I'm put out of the tourney.
 
Maybe it's time to start jamming to The Streets again....

As soon as I started the game, the whole house arrived and needed to talk about something. And I couldn't concentrate properly. Lost most of my chipstack early on due to a horrible read, and then barely maintained myself until my roommate went ahead and took me out of the game.
 
But, hey, I went down swinging!!

Another bad beat here. Pocket threes, three-handed, so I raised standard. Called by one other guy. On the flop, I hit a three. I bet out 2/3 the pot (it looked like a harmless flop, neither of us would have hit it, so I made it look like an faux-aggressive bet to get action), and he raised all-in. I, of course, called.
 
He turned over pocket tens, which meant he could only nail one of two tens. And the bastard did just that on the river, putting me out in third place.
 
(Let my roommate handle a few hands to get her used to sit 'n go's. She did wonderfully (avoided traps and pitfalls, pushed when she needed to) until she mistook two pair for a full house and lost 70% of my chipstack (and an incredible chip lead) to a king flush. I took back over.)
 
...I listened to The Streets again. Beginning to think that my frame of mind has been skewed the past two days, and that's why I've been put out of tourneys so quickly (I usually make the top 25%, afterall). These CDs help put my mind back into where I need it to be, and I've placed in the money in my last two events.
 
Connection...? I'm truly beginning to think so.

I was the chip leader going into four-handed play. But a couple of bad beats (seems to be a recurring theme right now) and some runner-runners later, I found myself with eight times the big blind.
 
I went all-in with KJo, only to have the man I doubled up three hands earlier win with a flush on the river.
 
But, I made it in the money, and I feel like I'm playing much better than the previous few tourneys. I jammed to The Streets the whole time, too. Maybe that helped my state of mind, eh?

Pocket Aces are great to call an all-in with, especially when the other guy flips over JKo. Fairly easy double-up, right?
 
But not when he gets Kings full of Jacks on the fucking flop.
 
My ulcer gets bigger.
