January 27, 2008, 6PM: Played 4 hours, 15 minutes, Made $412.00 at Ceaser's Palace
$3 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

I felt like I was playing great.  Not really making any mistakes.  But I know I was catching cards, too.  My table wasn't terrific, a couple bluffs I tried didn't work, and I didn't neccessarily always maximize my profit, either.  I probably could have continued to play longer and would have won more, but when I took a break from the table I started getting concerned about the $, so I decided to err on the side of caution.  Fun time, though.

January 25, 2008, 11PM: Played 3 hours, Made $210.00 at Ceaser's Palace
$3 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

I played GREAT!!! Made one of the best calls of my life.  Bottom pair for about $2O0 overall w/ bottom pair vs. a total bluff.  Felt GREAT!!! Had a ton of fun and really was able to play my game.  I played my instincts and played more naturally than I ever have before.  I didn't make a ton of $, but I played great and impressed myself and my audience.

January 22, 2008, 3PM: Played 6 hours, Lost $242.00 at Ceaser's Palace
$3 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

Ugh... Wasn't a whole ton of fun playing today.  Had a borderline hand that I decided to fold.  Was pretty sure I was beat, altho I had the second nuts with a re-draw.  If he had the nuts the pot odds were'nt favorable even if I allowed for a 10% chance of him bluffing.  But after that I was never able to get my chip stack back up.  The table tightened up, I changed tables, and still, it was tight.  Couldn't catch a strong hand, my bluffs weren't working consistantly enough.  My big hands got folded to a lot.  Eventually I just decided it was more painful that posative to continue playing, and I left.  Hate that I've been losing in this 1/3 game.  It's really a pretty solft game.  I did notice I was playing a lot of residents and regulars, some pros in that game.  Not so many fish.

January 21, 2008, 10PM: Played 1 hour, Made $100.00 at Ceaser's Palace
$3 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

I was playing good, I think.  had a good table image that I could mold and use as I pleased.  Was just kinda getting ready to run for a while, up from my $200 buy in to around $400.  Then I misplayed a hand... perhaps.  (opinions welcome) KJ suited in the cutoff.  Guy who just sat down and raised several prior hands raises again.  I call, tight guy on the blind calls.  Flop is J hi, w/ a flush draw.  Tight player bets, raiser calls.  I should've called, I think.  I raise 3x the bet, tight player calls, raiser goes all in, i fold, tight player calls.  Tight playe shows QQ and raiser shows AQ for 2 overs and a flush draw.  Turn is a K and river makes the flush.  The way i see it, had I called I would've gotten 2 checks to me on the turn, I make a big bet and they both (should) fold.

What sent me over the edge was a few hands later.  Same action player raises again, i have AQ suited, I call in position, 2 or 3 other players call.  Flop is AQ6 w/ the 6 of my suit and the AQ suited.  Raiser bets around 1/3rd of the size of the pot when he usually bets 65%-100% of the size of the pot.  I needed to either call to trap on the turn, or raise big like I did w/ my KJ before I mucked.  instead I raise only 2.5x his bet.  He folds, i win a small pot.

The combination of the 2 hands sent me on tilt.  I got up to cool off and decided to pick up and go home.  No need to donk off my chips, I'm off work tomarrow and the game will always be there.

January 20, 2008, 10PM: Played 5 hours, Lost $256.00 at Ceaser's Palace
$3 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

I think I played well.  I made a lot of stabs, bluffs, etc.  Played aggressively.  I got emotionally attatched to a hand and that's what caused the original $200 buy in to go away.  If I had mucked that hand the night would've gone better.  This same player had raised me the last 3 hands I played against in, I had 66 and flopped a flush draw with 3 hearts on the board.  Be bet out and I moved in.  He called, had AA w/ the A of hearts.  So I was dominated.  If I had been thinking more clearly and not emotionally I would've made the lay down and been much happier.  After that I rebought, changed tables because mine seemed pretty tight.  None of the 1/3 games at Ceasers seemed particularly good tonight, perhaps there's a better place to play on Sunday nights.  Won what I could, but I made a handful of bad calls for medium amounts of money when I was pretty sure I was beat.  That was probably about $80 worth of calls throughout the night.  Combine those 2 mistakes and I'm not a loser. I may have been playing on scared money tonight.  Didn't feel like it affected me while playing, altho it was int he back of my mind.

January 19, 2008, 11PM: Played 4 hours, Made $73.00 at Ceaser's Palace
$3 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

I was tired, so I was kinda torn on weather or not I should actually play.  Once I sat down it all came really easy to me.  Was making excellent reads and played great.  Had a questionable hand towards the end where I has 10's and I put my opponent on JJ or 99.  Made a raise to 3x his bet on the flop and he went all in.  I folded, he showed JJ and I was happy.  Just not sure if I could've saved that last bet.  Overall I was really happy with how I played.  I was relaxed and the play came vary naturally.

January 14, 2008, 8PM: Played 1 hour, Lost $160.00 at Santa Fe
$2 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

I didn't really get INTO this game.  I had the table set up pretty good to pay me off, being really aggressive, got the table pretty lose.  Ended up playing a big pot with a great draw.  Getting the correct pot odds to call off all my $, called and lost.  Was there with Andrew who wasn't playing poker so I left.  This game was just about all local grinders, no easy big money, but no experts either.

January 13, 2008, 11PM: Played 1 hour, Made $48.00 at Gold Coast
$2/4 Texas Hold'em

I was just screwin around, silly low limit game.  To easy to play poorly and still win.  Nice little confidance booster tho.

January 3, 2008, 10PM: Played 3 hours, Made $205.00 at Pheonix
$3 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

Yahoo!! Broke the streak! I wanted to just go and play for a little while, break the losing streak and bounce.  That's sort of what I did.  I went into my sort of spiral drain like feeling of "oh shit, i'm losing, i can't afford to lose, i'm making mistakes, i'm going to lose what's in front of me, maybe more... etc" and got worried.  That's how I've felt the last few times I played.

I started talking to a nice guy next to me and kind of got caught up in conversation, and didn't have the thought energy to stress about my play, or worry about my money.  When I stopped trying to do what I'm told in books, I stopped trying to play ... all i can think of is how i'm told in books.  F the books.  I just relaxed and started playing my game again.  I was in for 2 $200 buy ins, and after doubling up my second i was down to about $250 again.  I relaxed, played my game, and won some dough, then left when I promised myself I would, even though I felt like I had a great grasp on the table.  I'm happy.

December 29, 2007, 12AM: Played 7 hours, Lost $600.00 at Deuces Wild
$3 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

I have no idea what's going on.  well I have some idea.  every time I try to read a book it screws with my game.  I've been reading harrington's book on tournaments, and had that in the back of my mind, as well as Joe Nevarro's book on tells.  So I've been concentrating on trying to do what I'm told according to those books.  It just doesn't seem to fit my style.

I have a feeling I've been playing on scared money, so that's probably part of it, I haven't been nearly as agressive as I naturally should be, as aggressive as I used to be.  I need to buck up and be fearless, shove my chips in the pot without worrying.

I also believe I have been running kinda bad lately, people sucking out on me, coolers, just long time before looking at playable hands.

Next time I play I'll make sure I'm ready to shove all my money in on a bluff and lose it in 20 minutes.  If I'm OK with that I should play just fine.
