July 22, 2007, 8PM: Played 5 hours, Lost $320.00 at Kinloch Firehall
$1/2 Texas Hold'em

Well as you can see, tonight wasn't my night. The cards just wern't hitting and making a few bad calls didn't help. When the cards did hit, donkey calls were made to oust any chance of me catching any pots.

Example: Sitting at the small blind with 2 dollar calls all around I raise my AQ suited to 10 bucks. big blind calls 8 dollars everyone else folds. The flop comes 6 2 A. I bet 10 dollars, and the big blind raises me 10 more ( for a total of 20)I put him on an Ace with a middle kicker. Thinking I have him out kicked I call. The turn card is a 10. I check and he bets 6, i call. ( big blind was very aggressive, usually straddling only to give his straddle to other players. He also bluffed alot, and lost a majority of his chips to bad bets with dead cards.)River is a dead card for both of us but he bets 10 and I call. He flips a 10 2 Brunson hand. beats my top paired Ace queen kicker.

It was that kind of night. I held him to an A7 A8. Figuring he didn't have AK I made all the calls. That means he re raised bluffing with a low pair to my top Ace pair with my Queen Kicker. How do I beat calling stations?

Aside from losing a good portion of my bank roll I did come away with some positives. I was able to pick up on tells and even called one guys bluff, winning a marginal pot with a low pair. I was also able to read a guys full boat bet folding what would of been an all in call. ( Same guy as above. What a surprise, riight?) He raised 90% of every hand. This hand I had QJ at the button. Calls all around until the small blind position and he raises to a total 6. big blind calls along with me at the button and everyone else folds. Flop comes: 9QQ. I feel as if im sitting pretty with 3 of a kind and a descent kicker. Small blind raises 6 bucks, big blind calls, and I reraise for a total of $12 bucks Thinking I have the best hand. Small blind calls big blind folds. Turn card comes and it was a 6 of diamonds leaving no opportunity for any flush draws. He bets $6 I re raise for a total of 20. He calls. River card comes and it is a 3. He bets 6 I re raise again to 20. He comes back over top with an all in. Basically pot commited and a $100 dollar pot infront of me, Im thinking I have to have the best hand(judging on his previous bluffs). His re raise would put me all in. I count my losses and fold. He flips over Q3!!! I was proud because I was down to only 20 bucks but I was able to save time and win out a few more hands. I knew he had a queen but never would of thought he rivered the 3. He ended up losing close to $900 dollars actually cashing out before me. only dishing his straddles to big chip stacks and by making terrible bets. Just goes to show that any thing can happen on any given night. All in all i really only made a few bad calls, then again what poker player doesn't? The bad calls I made where very marginal to the pots I had lost. In total I lost 3 hands for a total of $280 dollars. Very Solid hands to say the least.

hand 1: me: AA player: 24 flop 5A3 <--- I go all in and run dead. $90 loss. (player calls 15 dollar re raise on top of a 6 dollar raise with a 2,4 pre-flop!! SICK!)

Hand 2: Me: QJ Player Q3 flop comes 9QQ i raise multiple times, including pre-flop. The calling station answers. Rivers a 3 for his full boat. Luckly I made the good call and folded the all in on the river saving what would of been a $130 loss. Lost $110. Still couldn't believe he rivered the boat.

Hand 3: Me: JJ player: 10,5 I re-raise the calling stations normal 6 dollar raise for a total of $15. He calls, and everyone else is out. Flop comes 8,4,10.I raise knowing I have top pocket pair to a total of $20. Turn card comes and it's a 3. I raise $25 dollars and the donkey calls. River card comes and its a 5. Putting him on either J10 Q10 or K10 I raise $45 dollars thinking there is absolutely no way he has me beat(Again judging on his terrible play.) He calls and flips the 10,5 2 pair. $80 dollar loss. I guess it's a good thing I didn't push all in, he surely would of called knocking me out even earlier.

Note: 2 of the 3 losses where to the same player. who had made donkey calls all evening! Who calls raise re raise with Q3!?

Another hand I called / re-raised to 15 dollars with pocket Aces pre-flop. 2 guys call. Flop comes A35. I push all in hopes of knocking out any straight draws. Button folds big blind calls. he flips 2,4!!! I can't really do anything about that, seeing I called and re-raised pre-flop. ( The guy above raised 6 dollars EVERY hand!) How does this happen?! Anyone with suggestions please.. I'm more than open for tips . It was just that kind of night. I know I am not the greatest poker player around and that all poker players take hits, but i felt as if it was a great learning experience and wasn't so much my terrible play, but just the luck of a donkey.

July 15, 2007, 9PM: Played 2 hours, Made $69.00 at New Kensington
$0.5/1 Texas Hold'em

Great game tonight... Key hand was probably when i was setting on AQ at the BB position. Calls all around to the small blind position with a 5 dollar raise ($4 to me to call). holding him to 10s Js or Ks pocket pairs i call to see a flop, not sure of where exactly i may stand. Flop comes QQ6 Small blind raises and I call with my set, the 9 comes on the turn. SB raises another $5 and i call. River comes I hit the Ace and hit my boat. check it down and the SB position flips his pocket kings =)
