February 22, 2008, 9PM: Played 8 hours, 30 minutes, Lost $300.00 at Kaloosa
$2 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

didnt get paid on any of my big hands. it was just one of those nights when everything i did was wrong. couldnt extract value from my made hands, picked bad spots to bluff, slow played my way into losses, didnt hit any draws that i chased. the only thing i seemed to be able to do right was lay a hand down, and i had to do this several times. the biggest was when i flopped a straight with 56 on a 789 board. dody led out and i raised and then a guy who i had never played with before took a couple of heavy sighs like he was in such a tough spot and then min raised. i autofolded faceup here. if its one thing i've learned playing in these small limit games, its that these bad players overact big time when they have the nuts. i showed my bithc end and he obliged by showing JT for the nuts. got off of top pair with AK on a very uncoordinated board and was shown a set. my big laydowns were the only positive thing to come from this session...thats not true. on my way home, reviewing the mistakes that i made, i realized that every pot i play i try to make it a big one, like i'm trying to double up on every hand i play. i am doing a very poor job controlling pot sizes. need to work on this. also, i didnt play tight tonight. i am capable of playing aggressive and fast and loose, but i really need to remember that this style doesnt suit my bankroll right now. i need to sit and play like a rock and log a win, even if its a small one. a $50 win tonight would have been so much better than this -300

$2 No-Limit Omaha

we decided to switch to no-limit omaha at 6 in the morning while playing 5 handed. i won several small pots, usually by betting scare cards in position. on the last hand of the night, i make it $10 with JsQsQcKc. dody reraises to $20. i call. flop is Qh6s7c. i check, he bets $20, i checkraise allin for his last hundred or so. he calls with 89TJ wrap around. turn pairs the 7, hes drawing dead, but i get the 4th queen on the river just to rub it in. nice finish. i wish we would play this game all the time.

$2 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

didnt do anything. had no hands to play and basically got blinded down. with $128 left, i button straddle for $5 and get 56d. rob makes it $26. i think about it and decide that he still has some fold equity, and i'm willing to go up against AK here, so i push it allin. KJ wakes up with a monster and he goes allin over the top with KK. rob calls with aces. man was i in bad shape. but i got very lucky and ended up making a straight. won a few small pots after. a win is better than a loss.

played some hands very poorly. let my opponents catch up several times by slow playing for not betting enough. cost myself some decent sized pots. then went totally dead. finally looked down at QQ in the sb. there was a raise to $19 by a loose player and 2 callers, so i shove for about $180. bb, chip, instacalls with AA. no suckout for me

$2 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

won the first hand with JT. flop came JT9 and knew someone flopped a straight, so i checkcalled. turn was a J and we got it allin and i sent him home. very next hand i got aces and sent someone else home on a jack high board. basically stayed out of trouble after that, winning a few smallish pots.

doubled early when i flopped a set and got it allin vs asohrt stack on a straight draw, a short stack with top pair and BJ, who flopped top pair and a flush draw. http://onlinepokerlog.com/odds/holdem/5c5s-JdTd-Jh8d-3s4c/Jc5d2d nice hold. didnt do anything for awhile. then this older guy came in. i think he was pretty much wasted and he coudlnt play worth a damn. so i waited for a spot to get it in against him. i had AQ in the bb and everyone limped. this guy wanted to raise but he couldnt figure how to put his chips out without it being a string bet. i was about to make it $30 more to isolate him, but the dealer flopped it without my option. anyway, flop came down As4s5h. everyone checked around to him and he bet $100 into about a $14 pot. at this point i put him on an ace weaker than mine or some small pair, but i know he could have a flush draw. i'm certain that my hand is best, so i check raise to put him allin for about $120 more. he calls. the board comes 5s, 7s. 4 spades on board and i dont have one. i turn my hand up. he looks at his cards and the board for long time like he's trying ti figure out what he has. all the player and some of the people watching start saying everything that can beat me and asking him if he has this or that, trying to help him. "do you have a spade? all you need is one.""do you have a six? and six beats him." so he turns over a six, 56h to beat me. whatever happened to one player to a hand? i dont think he understood he had a straight til someone told him. nice suck out. i had a little left over and a couple of hands later, he doubled me when i moved allin preflop with QQ for $75 and he called with Q5h. but i lost another big pot soon after. i only smooth call a raise with JJ. flop comes Q high, we check it around, the button moves all like i thought he would. he bet $80 into abou a $30 pot. i call with JJ. he shows me AJo. spikes an ace on the turn to beat me. wtf man? at the end, i gave away $120 when the game was near braking. this guy started talking about moving allin so he could go. so he moves in and shows jacks. the very next hand he moves in again. i have T7d and ask him if he will run it twice if i call. he says sure and turns over KK. jeez, back to back monsters after declaring he was gonna move in? i missed both times anyway...i thought my shitty luck was over after winning 3 sessions in a row, but i got thumped back to earth tonight with 3 pretty aweful bad beats. gay

this is a new game that is run by the skyline guys, but its located at hamners old place. game never got full. only played a couple of hands. had to fold to top 2 pair when bj made his flush on the turn. later had TT. made it $16. snuffy reraised from the bb to $50. i know that my tens are best, so i push in knowing that i'll be called. he calls $120 more. i flip over my tens and ask him if he wants to run it twice. he says no. board comes 9 high. he shows me 99 for top set. really?! did he really just do that? i offered to run it twice and he turned it down knowing that he only had 2 outs in the whole deck. who in their right mind would turn down that offer? what a joke!

didnt do anything for a long long time, but never got out of line, so i still had most of my $200 buyin after a couple of hours. finally picked up aces, got one limper outofposition caller, hoss. flop is TT8, he check calls. turn x, he checkraises me allin saying "thats enough" as in "there is enough money in the pot for my trip tens." so i fold, losing half my stack. couple hands later, take flop with QTs on button. flop is 853 2 spades. brian leads out for $15, hoss makes it $30, i shove for $72. brian folds claiming KJs. hoss calls with 89o. river spade. i like my shove here because i had just enough to get a bigger flush draw to fold, leaving me headsup with weak hand. the biggest hand i played: got a little bored, raised to $12 from the cutoff with J4h. all 4 limpers called. flop AJ4 rainbow. everyone checks to me. now that i actually have a chance to make a hand with my shitty cards, i check behind. turn is another J. one guy leads out for $25. i knew he had an ace by the way he checked the flop, looking at me the whole time. i have him crushed and dont want to scare him off, so i smooth call. river is the last jack. quads! i knew my hand was best before but that this card would get me paid off, cuz there is no way in hell he is gonna lay down jacks full of aces. he bets $50. i move in for $100 more and he pays me off with ATo. nice pot. later, hoss bets $10 in early position and i call with KTd in the cutoff. flop TT8. he bets $45. i put him in for $80 more. he calls with KK. wow, i seriously out flopped him. nice. didnt hit anything big after that, just a couple of small pots. the game was a little slow and not a whole lot of money, plus, duke plays at noon, so i cant stay out all night if i want get up and watch them play. another nice win. 3 in a row!
