March 31, 2007, 9PM: Played 15 minutes at Legends - Great Falls
$4/8 Texas Hold'em

Just stopped in to see John Golder and give his game a little action.  Game was a wild 1-4 with a 1-8 on the river.  Got stuck off the shute about a hundee and then picked up 2 hands in a row.  The second hand that I picked up I have JT and flop an open-ender (KQX flop) there is mass betting and raising going on during the $4 streets.  river came a T giving me 3rd pair.  Everyone checked the river....Ten's were good....how in the world I do not know.  Couple people chasing little wired pairs, and a maniac raising and reraising with 9T gutshot.  John had left and I was about even so I figured I would take back off to home since I was getting tired.

Bonus

Traded 10% with Blom at the break.  Had about the same amount of chips and had the same amount of rebuys.

$80 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (3rd out of 66 Players)

Another decent tourny for me.  Played pretty solid through most of the tourny.  Did make a couple of mistakes that I was able to recover from except for the hand I went broke on taking 3rd.  I made a misread on the chip leader and was the shortest of the 3 stacks.  I looked at an opertunity to put my self back into contention with what appeared to be 2 fairly decent players.  My read was wrong and instead of having the best hand I was drawn dead to 4 outs.

A couple of hands that come to mind, I would like to put in here because they could have been key hands in increasing my stack a decent size at different points of the tourny.

First hand I have AdQd vs 8h2d (Tom LaFond), which was raised preflop by Tom, which from playing with him in previous games a few years back I know he doesnt mind playing any two cards, which is obvious in this situation.  I just called his raise wait till after the flop to make a move at him.

Flop came 10d8c9d, which gave me a pluther of outs.  I checked and he moved all in. I called even though I thought I was behind at the moment, but thought all of my outs where live (flush draw, st8 draw, pair draw).  After running the odds through the odds calculator I found out that I was a 59% favorite to win the hand when the chips went in.

I missed all draws, That hand would have giving me about another 2500 in chips with the blinds going up to 50-100. Giving me a total of about 8K

The next big hand that I would like to mention, the blinds are 150-300.  Im in the sb with QdQh, everyone had folded to me so its sb vs bb.  I raise to 900, and the bb who had been playing extremly tight all tourny moved all in for about 4800 more.  I debate the call, count down the call, and see what I have left.  I would still have 15K so I call he rolled over As7d, which really shocked me from all the hands previously in the tourny I watched him play, even in the rebuy period.  Flop came an ace, and he wins.  If I win I would have had 25-30K probably making me either chip leader or 2nd in chips.

$2 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

Seemed like a long session, as my chips where all over the place and I was getting tired.  First hand I lose 1/3(~$100) of my buy-in with KK.  The flop came an ace and I was forced to lay it down.  After that it was just a matter of picking up chips where I could.  I made a move at one pot for my last $80, and got called so I thought I was fucked, but really I was bluffing with the best hand against a flush draw that missed.  The same player doubled me up after I raised it to $20 preflop with AK and flopping an A.  That got me back to even.  From there I had my confidence back and was able to build some sugar.

$2 Pot-Limit

Nice soft game, then one of the loser players in town wants to pot it pre almost every hand.  He has no idea what hands are good/bad in omaha, which was good, but bad for the game.  It got people to tighten up a lot more than usual.  Was lucky to win a couple 300 pots at the first of the game.  Held on to my chips and stayed about there the whole time.

$100 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (1st out of 40 Players)

Picked off another toruny.  Think this is were Im going to start focusing, even though there are not that may tournys around the state.  Play was very week.  This helped me to gain back chips after taking one of my 8 bad beats for the tourny.  Actually issued a bad-beat, making a wierd call.

One question I have for all you tournament players.  When it was 3 handed - I doubled up giving me 88K in chips.  The other two players in the tourny both have 10K each.  Blinds are 3K-6K.  Do you just muck giving the blinds a pass waiting for them to take out each other to move up a place and then take on the last guy with a dominate chip stack? Or do you go for the Juggular.

I went for the Juggular and ended up doubling up both players 2 hands in a row.  And then peeling some chips back to each of them after they doubled up.

Thinking about this, helped make my decision later in the tourny.  Blinds are now 4-8K and I have about 1/2 the total chips in play.  I limp on the button, SB goes all in, BB calls, so I muck.  I would have ended up winning the tourny outright right there if I call, but I figure I can muck and then split 1st/2nd with the winner of the hand, since they both had exactly the same amount of chips.  Even though the winner of the hand would have me outchipped by a little but basically even stacked.

I made the offer to the winner of the hand, and he accepted.  Splitting 1st and 2nd.

$2 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

Interesting Game.  It is a $40 max buy-in, but you can but $40 more if you are $40 or less.  Didnt realize this till after I got sugar, cause I thought you could only buy $40 more if you were under $40 which I saw players do before.  Got stuck almost 2 bills before grinding it back.  Very loose game, Couldnt believe the play I was seeing.

$3/6 Texas Hold'em

This session was wierd.  I get involved in 3 hands in the beginning losing 20 in each.  I win some little pots, lose some pots, then rebuy another 100.  Game got short, almost quit -$55.  But there was a donkey with over a hundee and another donkey with 60 or so.  So I thought I could get even.  Would have gotten even on this one hand (I get 9+ bets in on the turn)...I have the stone cold nuts...river comes a 6, the donk makes the same st8 I made on the turn.  We both lose $0.50 in the hand. (I should have made $70+).  I get closer to even and 2 more players get in the game.  I figure I was gold to get some sugar now.  Things ran cold.  I ended up coming off all, called it good.
