February 2, 2008, 7AM: Played 2 hours, 6 minutes, Lost $835.00 at Ceasar's - Las Vegas
$5 Pot-Limit Omaha

This was your ideal PLO game.  The players were very timid and "thought" they new how to play the game.  They were not aggressive(unless they had the mortal nuts AND a re-draw) and did not play back.  Which meant I could choose to limp pre with never a fear of the pot being raised or choose to raise pre and NEVER have one re-raise play back, EVEN WITH AAxx, which is standard and typical play!

What went wrong? I got, "unlucky".  I trapped the same player 3 times for his whole stack and each time he got there, each pot was from $700-$1200.  I win just one of those three pots and I'm even for the session.

His weakness was betting UTG/Early in a Raised pot with a 3 card straight draw and no pair or set.  If there was no raise pre everyone didn't give action.  So I would make a small raise pre and force players to put in chips.  Once they did they had a very very hard time letting go of draws, even if it was heads up and they were only drawing to a J high flush with nothing else working.

The first of the big pots was quite the stinger as I trapped two players for $300 +ish each.  Both had flush draws and neither had anything else other than runner runner BS.  What stung so much about this had was the fact that once all the chips went in on the flop ( I had middle set) we rolled our hands over.. one guy had 3 clubs in his hand, the other 2, the board had 2 and this girl said, "Shit, I folded 4 clubs" meaning there were ONLY 2 clubs left in the deck!!! It found it's way out though :(

The other two large pots was against the same player with his 68Tx with flop of 279 and me having 99TJ, I isolate him heads up, we jam the money in and somehow a 5 falls.

The last one with is three card wrap I wisen up though.  I let him bet out pot, I just flat call and decide to wait, we get another caller behind us and when the deuce brick falls on the turn I drop the hammer down after he checks to me.  The caller mucks and the 3 card wrap boy calls off his $400 stack with only one card to come.  I figure playing this way I give him a chance to fold and I only have to fade one card rather than two. At this point though he still is about 40% hit rate.. it didn't matter though, he was running 100%.

I decide to cut my loss and get up.  At this point the losing isn't even bothering me, it is becoming habitiual.  He did say something to me as I left that made me proud of my behavior despite the fact I am losing my ass this trip, something like,
"You played pefectly but I kept getting lucky on you and you never got upset, it was nice to play with you".
Im sure that is easy to say when you have about 2K in front of you ;) but really though, tilt and angry upset pissed the hell off emotions used to (and still does from time to time) steam and vent from me when something like this would happen.  It has always been something I was never proud of and would always look back and want to change.

February 2, 2008, 7AM: Played 3 hours, 6 minutes, Made $528.00 at Ceasar's - Las Vegas
$3 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

This felt good to take a nice win.. I needed a moral boost with all the red going on.

I think I need to sit more in lower limit NLH games.  Opponents are "transparent" and "easy to read".  They also pay off much eaiser for large amounts.

Risk is lower, reward is higher.

February 2, 2008, 7AM: Played 1 hour, 48 minutes, Lost $120.00 at Ceasar's - Las Vegas
$120 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (34th out of 53 Players)

Was not focused.. Jimmy and I decided to play like nuts, we did, I did not get lucky.  Made a great call one hand though as this player re-raised me pre, flop came down 23J all spades, I checked and he moved all in.  I said, "I call, show me your KQ" and rolled over A4 no spade.  He rolled over KQ of diamonds and was shocked AND my hand held up!

I blew that off quickly though after making a nut flush when a "play every hand" player limped with 94 off and flopped a full house :(

February 2, 2008, 7AM: Played 4 hours, 48 minutes, Lost $2,028.00 at Bellagio - Las Vegas
$30/60 Omaha Hi-Lo

This is a painful post.. mostly because I was up $700 in the first hour of play and was expecting a nice win.

This game primarily played 40/80, it was pretty much like playing 4/8 but with $10 chips.  Although 2k sounds like a lot it is only 2 racks and this game plays very very aggressively.

What went wrong? The same thing that happened in the 10/20 game at the Wynn, the "lifetime non folding losing players" called and called and drew out.  It was their night to torchure me.  I have to admit, I did play two hands poorly post flop that cost me about $400.

These games you can win or lose a lot quickly.  A friend sat in the game and within 45 minutes was up over 3k off of only a few pots.

Although these games are "ideal" because there is so much dead money there is a differene and comes a point.  This is when there are so many bad players and they are playing ultra aggressively and not being calling stations like they normally are.  You have to pay through the teeth for draws and you MUST make the nuts EVERYHAND, even when you flop top set with a straight draw(say you have KKQT, with a board of KJ5) there are no safe cards unless you make your hand.  Every combination of running straights and flushes are chasing you down and won't fold, they don't care how much you raise or how much it costs, if they can think of two perfect cards to come that will give them even 1/2 the pot they are there.

I guess this means I have to decide if I want to play in these types of games and risk the money or not.

$10 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

Didn't like the game or limit, 1K max buy in! You are short stacked.  Got out.

February 2, 2008, 7AM: Played 2 hours, 6 minutes, Lost $240.00 at Bellagio - Las Vegas
$240 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (4th out of 10 Players)

Satalite for the 1K NLH tourney.. top two get seats.. was great in chips from the word go.

Then since they needed the table for the tourney soon the floorman cut the time almost in half (we already were playing 20 min leves, now just 10) and it turned into a crap shoot.

15K in total chips, guy on left has 6K, the rest of us have 2K each.  Blinds are 300/600 or 400/800 and are about to go up to 500/1000 next hand.  I'm sitting in the SB with 33 when the button min raises and looks weak.  If I fold I have a little bit more than 2K and am certain any BB will call my all in.  I figure it is a coin toss here when I move all in *IF* the button calls.  I shove, BB folds and buttons thinks and is leaning towards a muck but knows he can't since he overcommitted himself.  Then the silly dealer colors up our bets in the middle of the hand (I re-raised all black, $100 chips, so it would look like more than it really is) The player realized it is not that much in comarision with the pot and calls with KJ.

That was my only real play to make, half the time I win that pot and the other player is crippled with 1k of his remaining 3K in the BB next hand with the huge stack in the SB, I auto muck, let the SB attack and hope BB folds or calls and goes broke.

They are crap shoots so..

February 2, 2008, 7AM: Played 7 hours, 36 minutes, Lost $988.00 at Wynn - Las Vegas
$10/20 Omaha Hi-Lo

This was one of those cap cap cap 8 way games...

It was so insane, one pot reached around $1900! The average pot was >$500.

I could not hold a hand nor hit a draw.  One of those nightmare situations.  The one time I did have a winner for a $800 pot the bettor fires and my neighbor check raises the river when the straight card hit and the board is paird already, making it almost impossible for me to overcall.  Had he mucked his check raise bluff I call the bettor and win the pot.  Instead the bettor wins this pot with a pair of 8s.  The check raiser had the right read but for a pot that large there is NO WAY he wasn't going to call with any pair.  The raiser had Ace high!

Terrible roller coaster session..
