May 5, 2008, 11AM: Played 32 hours, 48 minutes, Lost $735.00 at Poker Stars
$7.50 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (4th out of 10 Players)
These are all my Step Tournaments for Stars I will consolidate the entry for simplicity.
Played in 134 Step 1's so for.
Top 2 - 33
3rd's - 16
4th's - 21
5th's - 22
6th's - 13
7th's - 10
8th's - 13
9th's - 8
I have;
0 EPT Step 2's
4 APPT Step 2's
0 PCA Step 2's
0 WSOP Steps 2's
0 LAPT Steps 2's
Played 33 Step 2's
Top 2 - 6
3/4th - 8
5th's - 7
6th's - 5
7th's - 3
8th's - 3
9th's - 1
Played 1 Step 3's
9th's - 1
I have;
3 WSOP Step 3
1 EPT St3p 3
2 LAPT Step 3
STEP 2's
I'm finding step twos more difficult.. they still are turbos but people don't bust out as quickly. So I can't fold down to 3-5 players and then "turn it on". They also are more aggressive. Also, to stay on track with money invested I will need 9 step 3's and it is looking like that may not happen :(
*frustrated*

yes, they are like the Party Poker steps EXCEPT on Party they would close the step system down before the event and refund your account cash for all steps you had remaining. Stars does NOT do this.. they keep them open and running.
As far as level of difficulty.. I have only been playing steps 1 and 2, which seem to be the most difficult, because they are turbos and all the low rolling donks gamble in them. The 1st step also only really pays top 2 while step 3 and up pay down to 5 or 6 and either move you up or down the step system.
Jimmy (mtcarddealer) buys into step 2 or 3 and seems to be able to run them up to step 6 fairly "easy".
If you don't have the time and patience to deal with the donks at step 1 and 2 I'd recommend to dump $400-$800 into step 3s($82 each) and grind them up.
Also note, there are 4 step systems running;
EPT - European Poker Tour
WSOP - World Series of Poker
LAPT - Latin American Poker Tour
APPT - Asian Pacific Poker Tour
At times I accidentally buy into one thinking it is WSOP when it is EPT.. Since they all cost the same at every level..
I don't know why Poker Stars just doesn't call and make them all "Step Tournaments" and then just let their players choose which Step 6 to play for be it EPT or WSOP.
Anyways, WSOP Step 6 pays..
1st $2500 + 10K seat*
2nd 3rd $1500
4th 5th $1000
6th $ 500
*not sure if the seat is cash or a forced buy in based off your account info. If you find out please let us know.

Hey,
I don't know exactly how these work as I just put money on PokerStars but I am guessing they are pretty easy like the ones that I used to play on PartyPoker back in the day. Are these hard? What do you get as a final prize? Is it cash or WSOP satellites or both?

I plow through so many of them I dont want to be bothered by making a new entry for each.
Maybe you if you and Rob weren't such lazy fuckers you could code up the HH so that I can create "new" from the HH and it imports in all the data ;)

Jesse, if you want a more accurate rate of return, you should individualize each step that you buyin for.
Perhaps I will figure out a way to incorporate a "Satellite" entry, into the current structure.
