March 31, 2007, 10PM: Played 1 hour, 30 minutes, Made $0.20 at FT
$0.25/0.50 HORSE

This is the only game I should have played tonight.  It fit my mood and I got to play all the games I played when I started playing poker.  I will have to remember this instead of pissing off a buy-in in a tourney when I feel like playing but not putting in the effort required to win a tourney.

March 31, 2007, 9PM: Played 20 minutes, Lost $11.00 at FT
$10 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (35th out of 45 Players)

Didn't put forth the required effort to do anything.  Made a bad play on the button.  Raised pre w/ A8 with only 1 limper.  Flop Axx, checked to me and I bet pot and get raised by the limper.  I should have folded.  I knew it then, now and will forever, but for some reason pushed all in against AJ and lost.  Like I should have.
Moral of the story, if you don't feel like putting your full effort into playing, don't.  I could have just as easily went on the porch and burned a 10 spot.

March 29, 2007, 9PM: Played 4 hours, 15 minutes, Made $133.53 at FT
$10 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (9th out of 897 Players)

$8000 guarantee.  I sign up with 15 min left and only 400+ players.  I was going to get out if it only got around the 800 need.  I decided to play if there was an overlay or it went way above.  But I was playing the single table and chatting with Deiyuo when the tourney started.  Neglected it for the first half hour and still ended up gaining about 1000 chips.  So basically I am starting late about 181 of 520 with a $3000 overlay.  Sometimes everything works out in the end.
Went card dead after the post and didn't play a hand for 30 min.  Got moved to an ultra tight table that only played preflop premium hands.  It took a while to figure it out, but stealing here is easy! I got into a run of cards and the table livened up. Took some big swings. Bt go moved off the table with about 9500 chips in about 45th place.  High of 13000 low of 2000.  Like I said, big swings and some crazy action, for what was a dead table for a long time.  Maybe they got tired of me stealing? hmmm
As a sidebar, the angry fish looks like a drunk Jesse.
Second break 12500 chips, 36 of 140, money at 126, but very little pay until final table.  I like this pay schedule at FT, it rewards bold play near the money.  At the bubble I have 16100 and in 28th.  Hopefully as the short stacks trt to stay alive, I can pick off a few pots uncontested.  I have worked my way to 2nd in chips on the table and have gained a decent amount of respect while doing it.
Got moved then went card dead. Double whammy! The respect I had earned was worthless.  Loosing 2500 a round now with only 12200 left.  Patients pays off and I double up.  I am not pressing when I shouldn't, which has been a vice of mine.  SLB!
SLB doesn't help when you get absolute shit for cards.  Nothing ever remotely playable.  32 of 38 at 3rd break.  At least I am being patient and waiting for a hand that has a chance.  I have pushed with shit before and prayed.  But 12000 still will put a dent in someones stack and make them think twice before calling.  Blinds will be 1000/2000 with 200 ante when we resume.  From her to 19th is only $19 difference so it is time to make a more with anything respectable.
Wow, I have never been this far in a tourney this big before! Patients has paid off and I have played with a short stack many times and I have worked my way to 17 of 27 from being the short stack for a good period of time.  But with the blinds and antes so big, even the short stack can cause some dammage to everyone but the chip leader.
Now at 7 of 24.  Blinds 1500/3000 ante 400, I have 67K and feel good.  Went against what I thought was a weak A with QJ and got lucky to take him out.  I must gamble to get the big $.  Fominated and got lucky to knock out another. K9 vs KT caught a 9 on the river.  Going for the gold baby! Playing hand for hand for the final table.  I feel good about my chances.
Final table baby! It has been a long time since I made it this far in a field this bigg. 5 of 9 starting. 9th after first hand.  SLB!!
Damn, played SLB until final table, then played SLM (strong like moron).  Led and got called by J2 with JT.  2 flop and he calls when I put the continuation in.  At that point I was commited and no help comes.  No help and I am done.
Happy I made it this far, but pissed because I pissed it away in 2 hands.  Oh well.

March 29, 2007, 8PM: Played 1 hour, 6 minutes, Made $17.00 at FT
$5 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (1st out of 9 Players)

Should have been gone early.  TT in bb, raise and get called by the cs on my right.  Flop QT4 I fire a continuation of half pot and get called. K on turn and I have a gut feeling that he has a K and want to reel him in so I check behind him.  River J and he checks quickly and I think for a bit and check as well.  He turns over K9.  I escape with a few chips remaining and the cs continues to amass a large stack.  From ther I played solidly and my hands held when they needed to.  Went heads-up about even and quickly got down about 1:5. Slowed down a bit and battled back to get the win.

March 29, 2007, 2PM: Played 1 hour, Lost $1.00 at FT
$1 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (204th out of 514 Players)

I am snowed in today.  Can't even make it off the block, everything in toe is shut down and all the roads in and out of town are closed.  Thankfully I have the internet and it hasn't been affected yet.
So after working on wedding stff all morning, I decided to take a break and play a little tourney for fun before making dinner and spending more quality time with the family.
Doesn't look like I will be leaving the house until Saturday at the earliest, so expect many more posts. (as long as my bankroll holds up!)
Ridiculuous way to die, but it is to be expected in a $1 buy in tourney.

March 28, 2007, 10PM: Played 50 minutes, Made $25.45 at FT
$0.25 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo

I love this game! Passive, but calling stations.  A few good hands and the little lady comes to bed looking for attention, so it's good night to all!

March 28, 2007, 8PM: Played 1 hour, 34 minutes, Lost $11.00 at FT
$10 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (43rd out of 212 Players)

My first 6 handed tourney.  Interesting to see the differences in the 6 handed tourneys and full table tourneys.  Much looser and more true "play".  I didn't think there would be that much difference.  I will definately play again.  I would like to find a 6 handed double stack that I can play, as I feel that it would fit into my style well.  At the break, 58th of 77 with 2230, blind at 60/120.  I need to take a few more chances and see what happens.  I will update with a postmortem later.
Damn, I played agood tourney, working my way up until I get TT in the sb where the button just gets snapped on a hand and he open raises.  I reraise and he quickly goes all in.  On one hand, he may be on tilt and everyone online overvalues Ax.  But he reraised way too quickly.  I call too quickly without thinking this through and see QQ.  No help and my tourney is over.  yet another tourney I lose by making a mistake in the blinds.

$10 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (271st out of 310 Players)

I found out that I like the double stack tourneys.  I feel better with the extra chips to work with and 1 bad play won't cripple you early.  99, i raise and we see the flop 4 way. Flop 2J4 2 checks and I bet the pot and get called turn 5 I bet again and get raised all in.  I don't think he has a J or over pair and can't see two small cards with the pre flop raise, but alas I forgot the A2 suited which is worth its price in gold to some internet players.  I can still laugh, but it is early getting back into online play so I haven't gotten beaten by these morons repeatedly yet.

March 27, 2007, 8PM: Played 2 hours, 43 minutes, Made $4.40 at FT
$5 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (12th out of 90 Players)

Double stack tourney and I double up early then pick up a few more chips and sit near the top of the tourney real early.  Then lose two big hands for most of my stack to the same guy: gut shot then flush over flush.  Trying to build back up and not get stupid again.
So I go from 2nd in chips with 9000+ to 44th of 54 at the break.  At least it didn't tilt me.  I am truely enjoying the game for the first time in years.  I used to enjoy the atmosphere of b&m poker and the competition of online poker, but only now am I enjoying poker for the game itself.  It is not hard to keep focus and play well now.  Not to say that I am not making mistakes, because I made a big one, but I feel better about playing now.  Hopefully it will translate into better results once I get some experience online again.
Built back up to 9500 and 9th.  Pissed off some moron who bet too little when he was trying to run me off a pot with nothing.  He was briefly ahead on the turn and called me a moron before he got busted on the next hand.  I forgot that everyone was an expert online.
7th at 2nd break with 23 left.  Oddly, I find that blogging while playing helps me play better.
Made the money, but only get anything for finishing 7th or better.  Was sitting well, but made some good plays that didn't work well. No matter what, I am very happy with my play tonight.
Was short stacked and had 33 in the sb, unfortunately utg had KK.  Oh well, I had to get chips soon to make any real money.  Besides the little woman wants some attention!
