September 29, 2006, 3PM: Played 34 minutes, Made $131.75 at Doyles Room
$2 Pot-Limit Omaha

A10Q3 double suited, flop is A10K. i have 2 pair, a gutshot straight draw and the nut flush draw. i check from the blind, around to an agressive player who bets the $11 pot, i call, and then another guy check raises pot to $58. well he obviously flopped the nuts with QJ, but i have several redraws, so i decide to gamble and reraise to put him allin, leaving me with only $8. turn is a Q, giving me 2 more outs, river is a 10 for a flush house. i win. Flop Odds

$500 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (8th out of 540 Players)

Is it wrong to be disappointed with this?

Several key hands: First hand at new table, flopped a set of 9s with 5 people calling a preflop raise. Won on the flop uncontested. Later at the same table, raised with AK back to back hands, got reraised big, folded and was shown KK. AK vs KK back to back. Thats just sick. Won the last hand before the dinner break to me put at about the average chip count. The 3rd hand after the dinner break, my AA holds up vs AK vs QQ for a monster pot. Over the next several hours, i slowly build my stack, picking my spots well and having my big hands hold up. With 4 tables left, a young punk kid got moved to our table with a big stack. He was one of those very loud, brash and obnoxious guys with no manners and no respect. Soon after arriving, he called a large allin with QQ vs KK and hit a one outer on the turn to win. He yelled really loud and started jumping up and down and then went running around the room like an idiot. When he finally got back to the table, we started talking to each other, me telling him he was acting disrespectful and then he went on a rant of course, saying he was gonna bust my ass. Couple hands later, under the gun with AA, blinds at 1500-3000, i raise to 10,000. Punk reraises allin, and he has the whole table covered. Folded to me and i call. He has AK. i said "lets see you suck out on that." He doesnt and i silently sit down and stack my 90,000 pot. He moves in for his last 10000 on the next hand with A3 and loses to my AQ. Thanks buddy. When we stop playing at 2 in the morning, there are 16 people left and i am the chip leader by 500 with 138,500 chips.

Unfortunately, it was all down hill from there. We started playing at 2 the next day and were down to the final table in about an hour and a half. It was so even that the big stack didnt even have double the short stack. So one guy proposed a chop. We all get $20,000 and play for $25,000 more and the diamond ring. But since Harrahs wont do that for you, one lady decided she didnt trust the rest of us, plus she was upset about the taxes. Everyone else seemed to be cool with it, especially me. Why would anyone turn down 20 grand? Thats craziness. Anyway, she was a total bitch about it and i hate her for it. Cuz i was so card dead it was scary. 3.5 hrs at the final table and not one PLAYABLE hand. I stole the blinds every chance i got, but it wasnt enough. Everytime i was in the BB, either the UTG player raised or the SB did, and i never had a hand to defend myself.

Final hand: folded to SB, he doubles to 32,000. I look down at K3h and before i can stop myself, i move it allin for 70,000 more. I knew he was weak and i had feeling my K high was good, plus i still had enough to push him off. But he did the math and figured out that if he had 2 live cards that he was getting pretty good odds. Plus he said he needed to make a move to gather some chips against the bitch who had a very large stack. So he finally, grudgingly called with Q8h. I had him 60-40, but he flopped an 8 and i lose. It was a gutsy call, but a good one, and i'm not mad about that.

I dont feel like any of the players at that table were better than me, but i just couldnt get myself in good situations. And i feel like i really missed out here. On the other hand, i do feel that i proved to myself that i can really play. And i was disappointed with the money at first, since 1st place was 75K, but when the cashier handed me 76 hundred dollar bills, i didnt feel quite as bad.

September 25, 2006, 5PM: Played 5 hours, Lost $200.00 at Grand - Tunica
$175 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (25th out of 171 Players)

wanted to collect some chips early. with J7h in BB, called a min raise. flopped open ended with a flush draw, got it allin vs top pair and hit the river flush to double up. Later on at a different table, a very aggressive woman had just gained some chips to take the table lead over me. She min raised and i call with 22 in the BB. Flop K62 with 2 hearts. i check my set, knowing she will bet for me. She leads out for 2000, more than the pot, and i know she's strong and isnt on a flush draw. I check-raise to 5500 and she calls immediately. As soon as i see that the turn isnt a heart i move allin for 13000 and she calls without hesitation, which makes my heart skip a beat, but she has AA and doesnt hit the river. I double up to take a huge pot. A little later i have to lay down top pair top kicker to a guy who shows me bottom set and lose about 1/3 of my stack. Now we're close to the money, 18 people get paid. The same guy limps in and i call from the SB with 85s. Flop is 886 rainbow. I check, BB bets 1500, guy calls, i move in for 12000 more. BB folds. Guy says "i guess i'll give you your chips back" and calls 2/3 of his stack with 9-10c for a gut shot. Turn club, river club. i lose. Not cool. Played great, got unlucky.

September 25, 2006, 12PM: Played 4 hours, Lost $340.00 at Grand - Tunica
$300 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (400th out of 780 Players)

Played well and got some chips to play with when i made a bad play. KJs in the BB with 3 limpers. Flop is 88J, we check to the button, who bets 400 into a 1200 pot. I dont see how has an 8 or an over pair, or even AJ, cuz he is a very tight, solid player. So i put him on a weaker J than mine. So i decide to check raise allin for 2900 total. Hes the only guy at the table who has me covered. He thinks about it for a long time, so i feel good about my play. He says, "i dont know how i can get away from this hand" and calls with A8. i'm not sure why he took so long, but i didnt get luck and hit a 2 outer. Not a very good play on my part, plus i hate going broke from the BB. But other than that, i feel like i played well and am optimistic about the upcoming events

September 24, 2006, 4AM: Played 12 hours, 30 minutes, Made $291.00 at Gold Strike - Tunica
$2 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

One some good hands and made some really good calls with inferior holdings. On one hand, called a raise with A4s, and i thought he had a decent pair. Flopped the A to a harmless board, let the guy bet out, and i check raised him to $80. Then he put allin for $110 more. I was left with a tough decision, but decided to trust my original read and call. He turned over J8 for a total bluff and was drawing dead on the turn. Another hand i didnt trust my gut (which is always right) and called a $125 river bet with trip Ks from on old guy who i knew had 5s full of Ks. Just couldnt lay it down. Last hand i decided to play i lost $200 when i called this guys allin on the flop with an openended strt draw and a flush draw, missed it all.

September 23, 2006, 1AM: Played 4 hours, 30 minutes, Made $291.00 at Gold Strike - Tunica
$2 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

played pretty well, avoiding the players that i thought could outplay me and outplaying the ones i knew i could. generally, not a whole lot of talent at the table. Lost a big hand when i missed a bet on the flop and turn, then let the guy bluff me on the river. Won a big hand with K8 from a button straddle. Couple players limped in, i made it $15 on top, they all call. Flop AK8, middle position leads out for $25. There are 3 people to act after me, so i just call on this unthreatening board, 2 players call behind me after having checked. very weak players. Turn is a harmless 6. Check to the bettor, he goes allin for more than i got. I have to call, hoping he doesnt have A6, cuz thats the only reasonable hand i could put him on that has me beat. One of the guys in between thinks about it for long time and folds, later claiming AJ. River is a J. I table my hand and the guy tells me its good without showing. I love it when a straddle pays off.

September 22, 2006, 12AM: Played 6 hours, Made $625.00 at BJs
$2 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

wasnt gonna come cuz i'm sick and i wanted to rest before going to Tunica this weekend for the WSOP circuit event, but BJ talked me into it and said he would take half of me. So i went and put up $100 and he added another $100.  And things went well.  It was one of those nights when it felt like i was invincible and could do no wrong, and everything my opponents did was a mistake. Had my good hands hold up early and consistently. Won big pots, didnt lose any big pots. So i cashed out $1365, $725 for me and $640 for BJ. could have been a much bigger win, but this is a good one.

one good sequence: facing 3 limpers, i make it $16 to go with AA, get 3 callers. Flop 6-6-J, they check to me, i bet $40, get check raised allin for $50 more and am up against J-6 clubs. He limped and called 16 with J6 to crack my aces. So very next hand same guy raises to $10, i make it $35 to go with AK, he calls and another guy calls. Flop A-K-7 with 2 diamonds. This guy quickly goes allin and i quickly call. He shows Q-4 diamonds for a flush draw which doesnt hit, and i get all my money back.

Thats basically how the night went, donks playing at me with mediocre to poor holdings and not drawing out on me for a change. This is an important win, not only because i've had such a bad month, but it also gives me confidence and momentum as i leave for Tunica tommorrow.
