November 29, 2006, 11PM: Played 3 hours, Lost $320.00 at Forrests
$2 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

one of the worst nights of my life. not cuz i lost money but because i made no mistakes and still lost big. had built my stack from $200 to about $290. Chris raised to $16 in early position. it folds to me in the bb and i look down at 2 red aces. i make it $46 to go. with barely a thought chris moves allin and i call. he has kings and a king hits on the river. This is how far ahead i was when the money went in. now i'm left with about $40. i calm myself down and make up my mind not to get upset and stick to my game. i play very well and build my stack back up to around $130. i limp with J10 and 4 people limp. flop is KQ9 with 2 spades. i have the nuts but i want to bet the flush draws out, so i make a pot sized $10 bet. Chris calls and i get that feeling in my gut that i'm gonna lose. turn is a 4 that puts another flush draw out there. for some reason, chris bets out $35 even though its my turn to act, but i dont protest, cuz now i know he is strong and i can raise allin. so i move in for about $90 more and he calls. i ask what draw he is on. no draw just KQ for 2 pair. you are on the draw, i tell him, and i have him in another really bad spot. river Q, i lose again. This is how far ahead i was when the money went in. i rebuy for $200, which i knew was a mistake, cuz now i'm fuming. about one round later, i'm down to $140. its folded to me and raise to $15 with QQ. the sb(a very tight, predictable player) and the bb(a very loose, reckless player) both call. flop is 10-8-6 with 2 spades. bb bets $30, and before he can even release his chips i move allin for $100 more. the sb thinks and calls, but he has only about $90. then the bb calls too. SB has 78 spades, a good draw. BB has J10, a bad draw. i know i will lose. turn is a kick in the nuts, the Q of spades. river doesnt pair. This is how far behind i was when the moeny went in. i storm out, forgetting i won a side pot. apparently everyone tried to divide up my chips, but the house correctly stopped these greedy jerks and held my money for me. assholes. nights like tonight make me want to quit.

$2 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

we began a new table 6 handed, and again i bluffed my ass off, winning pot after pot against opponents who were unwilling to play anything but top pair or better. and even then, i won several pots when i bet someone off their top pair. maybe i'm better at short handed play than at a full table. When i made it to the main game, i got tired and didnt play too long. another win, better than a loss.

$2 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

waited for almost 2 hrs to get into the game, then a few extra showed up, so we started a 5 handed table. they were all tight, so i bluffed my ass off and won just about every hand. finally a seat opened at the main game, but it didnt last too long. BJ won a couple big hands late and took most of the money off the table. not a bad win though, just missed out on most of the action. did get very lucky to bust spencer's AA with my JJ allin preflop for about $100.

$5 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

game was pretty good, with tons of money on the table and everyone having a pretty good time. didnt make as much as i could. played kinda passive as i didnt know anyone at the table except rob. one interesting hand happened near the end of the session between rob and this kid who liked to gamble nicknamed "quarter". quarter button straddled and several people limped. predictably he raised his option and only rob called. Flop was QJ7, all hearts. rob dark checked and Q bet out $40. rob raised to $100, Q called. turn was a blank 7. rob check-called $125. river a was black 9. rob moves allin for $230 and Q calls with K5 hearts for second nut flush. rob turns over pocket 9s for a winning full house. the table went into hysterics at rob(a very good and successful player) and his apparent suckout, fueled on by Q's tirade of obsenities. later, his explanation of the hand to me didnt make his play look so bad: Q had been playing his big hands passively and his draws aggressively, so rob put him on a hand like AK with one of them being a heart, drawing to a flush, so his play made sense. unfortunately he was wrong, fortunately he got very lucky. look at these odds:
Flop
, Turn. arent suckouts fun?

$80 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (52nd out of 60 Players)

QQ in BB. 4 limpers for 100. I raise to 800. 3 people call. 3 limpers call 800. Flop. I lead out for 2500, get one caller, a young kid who had a decent stack from catching cards and over valued is hands. Turn. I bet 3500 and he quickly putting me allin. I told him he had AJ with the J of diamonds, and he was shocked that i got his hand exactly right. But i had only 2500 left if i folded, so i called anyway. i was a 4 to 1 dog, but the pot was laying me more than 7 to 1, so a fold would have been wrong anyway. river didnt pair the board and i mkae another quick exit in this tourney.

hit some draws. got it allin on the flop with these 2 hands and won both: Hand 1, Hand 2. Also played a good hand against Ben. I raised with A10 diamonds. Flop was AK3 with 2 hearts. i lead out for $25. He raised to $65 and i called. turn was a black 6. i check call his $30 bet. River is a black 7 and i bet $50 cuz i put him a flush draw. its entirely possible that he made 2 pair, and if he did, i knew he would raise my bet, but he might also call with any pair right there too. he only called and showed me A9 and my kicker played.

$2 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

played great, and i mean great, for 6 hours, but one bad call ruined the whole thing. had built my stack to a little over $600 when i limp with K3 hearts. 6 handed to flop 6h5h4h, second nut flush with openended strt flush. Justin leads out for $25, an overbet. i know he doesnt have a flush and is betting to protect it. i raise to $75. Ben flat calls behind me, which doesnt mean much. If he had an ace in his hand he would have raised preflop. Then Chris flat calls from the button. He might have the ace, or maybe a strt flush draw. Justin folds. Turn is a black 8. i lead out for $125, Ben moves in for $140, then Chris moves allin, and he has exactly $18 less than me. damn. would he make that move with just the ace, or does he already have a flush. How can i lay this down? Its a $1400 pot in a 1-2 game! And before i could fully contemplate the full magnitude of Chris' bet, my mouth says call. Sure enough he flopped the nut flush, but it gets worse. He has the 7 hearts, which means i can only win with the 2 hearts, which doesnt come. damn. Now that i've had time to think about it, i know Chris well enough that i should have realized he wouldnt move in on me without the nuts. He would move with less against someone else, but not me, cuz he knows that i dont go that big without a premium holding. i could have laid it down, but i didnt. damn

played poorly, but had a couple of coolers, including losing with 9s full to quad 4s. last hand made a big move with a pair and a pull against 2 pair. This is what it looked like when the money went in. I didnt hit.
