$2 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

never put my money in good, plus i did it knowing i was beat everytime. what a moron. there was a raise to $15 and ben called. i make it $50 to go on the button with QQ. raiser calls, then ben raises $200 more. i know i'm beat but cant lay it down. he has kings and i lose. i did take consolation in the fact that we would have gotten it allin on the flop anyway: K7Q. we both hit sets. came back for $100 and blew it all quick. called $10 with my least favorite hand KJ. flop king high all hearts. talley moved in. i knew he probably had the flush already but called anyway to hit my higher flush. didnt hit. i lose again. wasnt reckless tonight, just bad.

December 15, 2006, 10PM: Played 5 hours, 15 minutes, Made $40.00 at Skyline
$2 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

this is the worst win i've ever had. first off, got very lucky when i made a running full house aces over 10s to bet chip's floppped set of Js, winning a big hand. then, in 2 consecutive hands, slow played trips into a bad fold when a flush hit and ended up folding to a lower trips. then doubled up the same woman with top pair AQ against her flopped set. knew i was beat but pushed at her anyway. very late, i let paul pull off a big bluff. with $240 in the pot and QQ, i checked on a board of 4c 7c 10h 9s Jc and folded when paul bet $100 and showed 7-3 diamonds. then i lost a $160 pot when we checked it down. i had AQ. paul had Q9. rob had Q10. a ten hit the river. This is what domination looks like. a night like tonight makes me wonder if i would ever win if i didnt get lucky.

December 14, 2006, 11PM: Played 4 hours, 45 minutes, Made $240.00 at BJs
$2 No-Limit Texas Hold'em

in one of the first hands i played, called $7 with A4 clubs and ended up more than doubling up through talley and bj when i flopped trips vs KK vs trips with a lower kicker. off to a good start. used my bigger stack to get more aggressive against some passive opponents, but then i got caught. made a big raise with 10s and got called by a player i had never played with before. flop was QQ7 and he check called my $45 bet. alarms went off and i knew he had a queen, but did i listen to my gut...of course not, and i put him allin for about $150 more and he called with AQ. i've always said, the day i start listening to my gut is the day i become a good poker player. anyway, not much to speak of after that. won a decent sized pot with quad jacks, lost a big race allin preflop JJ vs AK. decnt win, good week

$80 Buy-In No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament (4th out of 53 Players)

finally cashed in this tourney after 7 tries or so. played well. didnt get frustrated when cards didnt come. just stayed patient and waited for the right situations, which finally presented themselves.

was almost a bad loss. lost several races to short stacks allins. then gambled like an idiot. i straddled from the button, several people limped, and raised $15 more with Q5 diamonds. then one of the limpers, calvin, reraised to $100, which had me covered. i told him that if he did hold either of my cards i would call. he showed me AJ spades, so i foolishly called and lost. Odds. i definitely could have waited for a better situation to put in $100. so i reload for another $100. first hand, make it $15 to go with JJ, get 2 callers and then talley makes it $100 straight, which is exactly what i have, so go for it. he has AK, and my jacks hold up. a while later, i'm sitting on $260, and limp with 5-6 spades. we take the flop 6 handed, 4h7s9s. check to me and i bet $10 into my gutshot straight flush draw. calvin immediately raises to $30, everyone folds and i call. thought about pushing right there, but i wasnt sure if i would get called and i wanted action. turn is 10s. i check, he bets $45. i checkraise to $100 and he puts me allin right away. so now i think about whether or not he could possibly have a higher flush. i dont think he would have played it that way so i call. he has As9c, and the river isnt a spade, and i win a huge pot. Ahead on the flop. Way ahead on the turn.
